Disaster

Planet Earth faced true calamity. Continents moved around and completely reshaped Earth's configurations. Worst of all, animals all around the world began mutating. These mutations brought superhuman traits to the animals and gave them enough power to ravage human cities. Waves and waves of beasts attacked every city on earth, eventually destroying most of them, since people lacked the power to defend themselves.

However, the same energy that gave animals strength and reshaped the world, was also flowing inside of humans. The few cities that were able to defend themselves against the waves of animals, succeeded only because of the select few families that were able to understand and use this new energy fast enough. The many cities that were not fortunate enough to have one of these gifted families, fell to the continuous waves. The cities fell, but some groups of people still survived and created small primitive villages in what was labeled as the "restricted zones".

The villages in the "restricted zones" raided and pillaged other villages for food, and regressed to far more simpler times. These small villages were able to fight against the weakest beasts, but against any other they would not survive. As far as they were concerned, the entire world was destroyed by the beasts. These people, "the villagers", never knew about the cities that survived and never discovered why everything happened, they could only be preoccupied on surviving.

One of these villages in the "restricted zone", the Ragon family's village was a very peculiar one. For some reason, beasts wouldn't dare to attack that place. Although all the other villages in the area would have to consistently fight the beasts, the Ragon family didn't, and only bothered fighting when they were looking for food or to train their bodies.

Finn, a very curious sixteen year-old boy, is the only son of the leader of the Ragon Family. Although the Ragon's were held in great mystery by the neighboring villages, in truth, the majority of the family members were weak and clueless as to why they were never attacked by the animals. The Ragon Village, was made up of Finn's cousins, uncles, aunts, parents, as well as other children who were taken in after their villages were destroyed. Everyone accounted for, they weren't more than 20 people. Finn, being incredibly curious, had a couple of theories as to why the animals never attacked his village. When he was around 6 years old, Finn stood tall and proud, sticking his chest out and taunting the animals who dared attacking him. He was convinced the animals trembled at his sight...but later he figured otherwise, as he was brutally defeated in battle when he tripped over a tree's root while walking home.

More seriously, when Finn became older, he suspected it was because of his dad that beasts wouldn't attack. But he had no solid evidence, so he left the thought stored in the back of his mind.

{Present Day}

"Hmm...", Finn thought to himself as he got up from his bed. "What should I do today? It's so boring around here. Guess I'll just head out and meet up with my friends"

Finn put on some sandals and prepared to leave his small, primitive looking wooden house. Although his house wasn't extravagant, none of them were, in his Village or in any of the other ones. As he was about to exit the door, his mother called out to him. "Finn, are you headed out?".

"I think I'll head over to Goran's house since I've nothing to do. I think Aldren and Mia will be there too", answered Finn. "Fine, but remember to go visit your father. He wasn't feeling too well, so he's staying at the Village hall."

In the past couple of years, Finn's father, Regis, was constantly in a worsening condition. This worried Finn, obviously, but he knew it wasn't anything immediate. "Yeah, okay. I'll head over there later", he answered as he left the house.

After a short walk, Finn arrived at Goran's house. He knocked on the door and waited for an answer. But after a couple of minutes no one came to the door, so Finn gave up on waiting and barged into the house since he had a pretty good idea of what Goran would be doing. When he got to Goran's room and opened the door, he saw Goran panting in sweat, completely drenched, while throwing punch after punch with his back straight and his legs flexed. Finn could only think, "as expected of this guy, always training."

Goran, one of Finn's closest friends, was 16-years old and his cousin. Goran was very strong. He wore a fitted top without sleeves, showing his big arms. Goran was constantly exercising and trying to get stronger.

As Finn entered Goran's small room he called out, "Yo, what's up?". Goran turned around, stopped exercising, and returned the greeting. Both of them talked for a while waiting for the rest of their friends to arrive. The first one to walk through the wooden door was Mia Mireia, a girl with long red hair that wore black pants and wore a gray top that didn't cover her slim belly. After Mia, Aldren walked in with his classic bucket hat. Both Mia and Aldren were taken in to live in Ragon Village after their villages were destroyed by attacking beasts, when they were six years-old. They've both lived in Ragon Village ever since. And after living for ten years in Ragon Village, they were both considered family, as well as Finn's closest friends.

As everyone sat down in Goran's room, they just laughed and talked about anything. Since there wasn't much to do in a village surrounded by wild beasts, they found themselves doing this often. After their conversation came to an end, Finn asked something.

"Guys, do you think we'll ever leave the village? Is this it for us or will we ever live a more interesting life?". After a long silence, Goran spoke up, "I'm not sure. But a part of me hopes there will be more to our lives. I want to discover strength and power, and I'm afraid I can't do that in this village."

"yeah, there has to be more", thought Finn.
