Thas'dorah

Leaving her daughters to prepare themselves and her youngest was naturally helped by the maids, Lireesa returned to her office room and locked the door. Based on her memory, she searched for a secret lock mechanism on the shelf behind the desk she used to work on. To the left lay a window to allow sunlight to sieve a little facilitating her paperwork, or provide a simple lighting effect for her to read books. A serene study room just prepared for the Lord of the mansion, or in this case the lady of the Great Noble house. Who would have thought a secret was hidden under the obvious, oblivious to outsiders.

After Lireesa tweaked some small statues placed as decorations on the shelf and pulled down one of the books placed on it like a lever. She heard the mechanism start and backed off from the shelf. She even sensed vibrations across the floor albeit very gently only to be noticed by someone inside the room. Creaks and groans echoed from metallic structures scraping against each other. Then the mechanism paused and chains clanged from inside. Suddenly, the shelf separated revealing a thick wooden door as hard as a metal imprinted in ancient runes inside alongside some golden ornaments carved on. A symbol of bows and arrows shone in glister in the center with Windrunner's insignia on four corners of the door. Lireesa had no idea whether this door was really wooden or metal because it appeared damn sturdy, and she knocked on it to determine the materials. The answer was wooden, but a type of wood unavailable in previous life which was harder than steel yet lasted longer and never rusted.

She placed her hands on the center bulging decoration and felt a portion of her mana absorbed by the door. She didn't panic as she had realized from the memories it was some kind of identity recognition technology. Good guy, the elves even had fingerprint devices. In Lireesa's view, it was more advance than conventional fingerprint because it also read mental fluctuation, as expected of a long-lived species. Their development in warfare stagnated because of the majority's disinterest, but the luxurious innovations never ceded to the wheel of time. Soon, along with a strident click the powerful air around the door was blown off including the dust as if to announce its ancient existence. Lireesa pulled the handle or what it appeared to be—decoration in the center—but the door hardly moved. She applied more strength and the door slowly opened outward. It was heavy contrary to what people expected of a wooden door.

The pathway inside was dark like an abyss preparing to swallow anything that entered. Lireesa's expression remained steady and approached inside. Some lights from the window allowed Lireesa to see through the darkness but after walking several meters, the whole scene turned into night and could hardly be perceived by the naked eye. It was dried and dusty, displaying the rare visitors. Lireesa twirled her index finger and created a fireball the size of a fingernail glowing and dispelling the entire blackness. It was dried and dusty, displaying the rare visitors Perhaps her heat generated the circulation and the air began flowing albeit very slowly.

Her vision noticed a spiraling staircase descending not far from her position. It wasn't very wide but maintained a comfortable space enough for a single person to have a degree of movement. As she followed the stairs, her left finger stirred up the wall to feel the majestic structure. Ancient yet indestructible. She knocked with the back of her knuckles and the sound indicated a firm solid wall. Her treads moved and the back of her heels reverberated in the silent hall. Her steady clangs sounded reassuring when Lireesa ventured inside the secret realm alone.

As one of the eight Great Noble houses in Quel'Thalas, how could the family not build a secret realm to hide and protect essential materials from ancestry collections to scriptures related to the family's bloodline. Lireesa knew for a fact that this secret compartment had existed underground before her mother was born. She had no idea how exactly long this secret realm had been here; perhaps it wasn't wrong to assume since the first Windrunner line. Naturally, she entered the secret realm for serious business, not to sightsee the ancient monument. Lireesa didn't care about her family's history and all her mind was on picking her own weapon bow.

To contend against the Legend according to Sena's guess, despite a very slim possibility which she couldn't ignore, Lireesa desired to exert her maximum combat power. Even without acquiring additional stats from the weapon, she still had a certainty of killing the legendary powerhouse in spite of being quasi-legend herself. Her confidence flew when she discovered herself that her arcane magic also reached the same realm as her ranger profession. Not to mention her mana seemed to be more condensed into higher quality and the accumulation stored inside was abundant, ampler to spend her spells luxuriously.

Soon, she noticed her descent was over as she exited the staircase. From the small space to a huge ample room. Lireesa paused and glanced around the chamber, where numerous scrolls of scriptures stood and well-made yet old bows used by many Windrunners lay on the ground. There were some golds scattered around; if one didn't know she was inside Windrunner's manor, she would have thought, she mistakenly uncovered the hidden treasures. Lireesa also saw many other precious materials, if shown outside would attract greed. Yet her attention wasn't on them. The only piece in the middle of the room enthralled her eyes; its reflection from Lireesa's fire enshrined the entire room. Lireesa's sight was on the large round but short stone pillar where its flat top functioned as a table to stow the incredible bow on.

There laid an infamous bow, the heirloom of the Windrunner family—Thas'dorah—Valor of the forest. As her name stood, the bow appearance didn't shame the semi-artifact-level equipment. It exuded an ancient temperament as if a sage from a millennium stood before Lireesa. She also felt the hidden power emanating from deep inside the bow. The arcane aura which surrounded the bow was massive. Lireesa was sure there was no momentum when she first sighted the semi-artifact, but as soon as Lireesa's eyes stayed on Thas'dorah, there was an arcane flood. She understood anyone seeing this bow would be captivated by its emitted glow. Lireesa was now worried whether her initial hiding plan before showing up to confront the troll's Legend was over. How was she supposed to conceal herself if the bow announced its presence? Her premonition was quickly overturned after she held it later.

Nonetheless, Lireesa ambled toward her goal, the beautiful masterpiece, the most precious in the secret realm. Based on her memories, she was sure when she welded this bow, any Legend was a bug in front of her. Of course, she didn't include the peak and advance stage of Legend in her calculation. Advance might bring an excitement and heartwarming session, but in front of the peak, she must fight with seriousness to avoid getting stomped. Without having a grasp of law segments from Azeroth, it was already exceptionally good for Lireesa to combat Legend back and forth.

The picture from her memory couldn't compare with reality. Thas'dorah in her mind was just an enchanted weapon and the true item argued otherwise. If she had no idea her weapon was a bow, she thought it was a melee weapon somewhat similar to the moon glaive used by heroes like Illidan. The recurve bow curvature differed from a conventional one and appeared to Lireesa as if it was a primordial beast alive. Decorated with green and golden ornaments, her bow matched the 'Valor of the forest'. The entire structure looked like a big three-headed golden phoenix flying swiftly with its main head in the inner semicircle spreading its two sharp wings on the outside semicircle. The inner part served as a handle while its main head acted as a hand guard to protect against any attacks on the welder's hand.

Two other heads met at the center of the main head from the outside along their wings. Anyone who watched this artifact would at first only lament the beauty unaware of the technological thoughts behind the design. Two circles design was ingenious in Lireesa's opinion because the handle in the inner part was further placed behind the bow itself, allowing the welder to stretch the bowstring further at a farther distance than the traditional bow. This increased the arrow's kinetic energy and the potential energy of the bowstring. It wasn't without reason the arrows released by this bow contained passive stats plus the enchantment imprinted created this monstrous weapon of arts.

Lireesa's hand slowly picked the two phoenix heads and raised the semi-artifact and she closed her eyes sensing the will of the bow itself, chanting its myth and desires. Similar to a living creature, it even spread its kindness to the descendent of Windrunners. She smothered the limb, caressing gently with her hand while whispering the elven chant of Windrunner. It told a tale, narrating the struggle of her ancestors and the generations that followed. After she finished singing, she welded the mythical bow on her left hand as if to prepare for combat and surprisingly blue arcane sparkles flowed around from the two's bow necks or edges. Some called it string nock or recurves. Whatever. Lireesa noticed the two blue ends connected to form a bowstring composed of arcane energy, which transformed into a black realistic bowstring no different from convention one's. Not only Lireesa just now saw the materialization of arcane energy, but also the screaming aura which worried Lireesa immediately disappear as if the bow became ordinary. The hidden destructive power deep inside was unfathomable, and made Lireesa gratified.

When her hand held the bow in such a nonchalant way, the bowstring disappeared. She now affirmed the bowstring appearance depended on solely her mood. Her mouth curled after she'd picked up Thas'dorah and she saw that beside the pillar laid an exquisite ornamental quiver just like a match made for her bow. She carried it on her back and returned the way to her office, without drooling at the money in the chamber. These were marks of her family's histories and mustn't be blasphemed.

Striding back, she talked to herself or to the semi-artifact, "It's a waste for you to stay in the museum. Come with me to leave our mark in the epitome of history. We'll crush any enemy who dares to threaten us. I promise, although I have no idea at the moment, I'll upgrade you to a true artifact level even gods will be jealous of."

She exited the secret chamber and hid the entrance after moving some mechanisms. Rumbles ensued afterward and lasted a minute. Now it was no different from a normal office without the slightest bit of strangeness. No one except her knew how to enter the family's secret realm.

Perhaps, her memory about this bow was wrong or her predecessors never discovered the true potential of the weapon. After she wielded it in a combat state, she was stunned by the message transferred from the bow boasting about its abilities and unknown traits. Of course, the equipment never bragged but it seemed to her that way. A healing spell was even available for the wielder to utilize should she injure herself during battles. This was just one of them. Lireesa now had a strong belief the upgrades or further enchantments would be able to bring up more even though she realized promotion meant more consummation of resources. Nevertheless, as a transmigrator, she wasn't convinced this task was impossible, at least for her provided that her knowledge about Azeroth wasn't a lot but she still possessed knowledge of the location of many hidden treasures. She really looked toward the future together with this semi-artifact.

"Milady Thas'dorah, now we shall exterminate all the trolls which may endanger my family, just like you were born for this purpose. We shall dance together our first battle in this world from this day onward." Lireesa said holding the bow face-to-face. Her face brightened with confidence as if everything was within her grasp. Strength was paramount in the entirety. "Our enemies await in the future. Even if you aren't alive, you lived more than many generations. As elder, please guide me to victory, Lady Thas'dorah."

Thas'dorah: "…"

The bow illuminated and trembled in response. Didn't know whether in agreement with Lireesa or in protest toward her name and gender.

Lireesa didn't want to hold and keep a male beside her, so regarding Thas'dorah as a woman was the best for her.

Terrible writing today.

I don't know whether the posture affected the back and shoulder muscles.

It always aches.

I hope today's chapter didn't fail you.

Description is freaking hard.
