3 Evolved Monsters
__Southern Gate___
Arriving at the southern gate, Elise could see hundreds of monsters charging. They were about 4 km away from here.
"The one in the back is strong, even stronger than the one little Roddrick will be facing" she said to herself
"I don't know how long It'll take to finish here but it seems the city lord sent his knights to all gates… that'll make my job a lot easier"
Saying that about 300 knights came from behind her. She could feel they are top notch knights even in this city.
The knight commander, who was once an adventurer, was the commander of the grand magic knights division. And had great feats as both. His name is Brogden Winslow.
Riding on magic war horses, the knights stopped and stood in rows while leaving the middle open for their commander. Coming to a stop not far from Elise, Brogden spoke to her with a respective tone but stern face on his middle aged face.
"Nice to see you again Miss Elise"
"Same here little Win and I see you're a knight commander now. Who would've thought that headstrong teen would turn out to be the man he is now..congratulations" said Elise
"Ahem Win is fine and you're still the same as before even though you're…" started Brogden
"I'm what?" Said Elise with a flare
"Oh um attentive and informative as always" replied Brogden with cold sweat
"I see well enough about that I know even you are aware that today's opponent will be more different than anyone you have ever faced before" said Elise with a serious expression now
"Yes he felt as strong if not stronger than master but I could be wrong as I never saw him went all out before" replied Brogden
"You right about it being as strong as Roddrick but it's not close to how strong Roddrick truly is even though he's been lazy and quiet rusty" she said
"Nothing really has changed I see, well now it seems he had to take action himself" replied Brogden
"Yeah he should be having quite the fun even though he just want to be lazy, he's "secretly" a battle manic" she said with a slight smile
"He.. he, I wish to not remember those times" he said with a slight shiver thinking about the past
"Well now's not the time since they'll be here soon…. What are you going to do knight commander" said Elise with a smile
"Ahem, listen up as you all can tell this will be a battle not just to protect this city but yourselves. So I won't make a speech or anything but remember to always fight within your capabilities, there's no need to do too much. Trust your fellow comrades and have each others back are we clear" he said to his knights as they all looked to one another and nodded
"Yes sir" they said in unison
"Good now grand magic knights get ready it's time for battle" he said
"Yes sir" as they're moral was raised and ready
"Little Win has really grown up how nice" said Elise as she too got ready to intercept the lead monster with Brodgen
"Things should be fine, hopefully nothing else unexpected happens" as he mumble that last part to himself
"Do you think it's at the demi-god rank" asked Brogden
"No but it's close we need to get rid of it before it destroys this whole city" she said to him
"Yes" he said as the both of them started moving as the group of knights did to
'Is these the monsters from back then, has something happened for them to start moving now.. Hopefully he doesn't kill it so we can find something out' she thought
"So there moving now and looking at the other side it seems he wasn't a hero for nothing but that look he has is terrifying" mumble Benrey
"I have to remember to stay as far away from him as possible.. Those types are a headache"
'It'll take him a while so I'll look over this side to make sure things go okay, I'll intervene when need be' he thought
Seeing the hundreds of magic knights and Elise moving towards the monsters he, who was completely concealed in the air, started moving with him as he analyzed their strength on both sides.
"The monsters are a lot in number but not too many high ranking ones… that's not the ones I care about is the one leading them, even though they should be able to beat it"
"Oh here they come.. I already put a barrier around the city just in case… it's undetectable but strong enough to take a few shots from those leading monsters or should I say evolved monsters"
As both sides started to fight, Elise and Brogden went towards it while also killing off the small frys. Once the small frys realized they weren't a match for the two, they stood clear of them and instead focused on the hundreds of knights in their way.
Standing not far from the monster they saw that it was a wolf type monster. Couple major things stood out and it was that it stood on its hind legs even though it wasn't a werewolf. It also had reddish black fur with two black horns to go along with its crimson red eyes.
Another thing is that its wolf-like face showed a smirk that looked beyond disturbing even with its hand-like claws. They could also feel the dark mana leaking from it.
"So nice of both of you to personally come greet me" spoked the monster in a deep male voice
This shocked Brogden but not Elise as she fought and killed evolved monsters before. She was just shocked that there are still monsters that know how to evolve.
"Now, now, no need for the shock faces especially you we both know you have already known about us for centuries now" as he said to that last part to Elise
"What, so she knows about them too then doesn't that mean he does too. No wonder I felt his aura change from a battle junkie to a hardcore maniac. They're something he can let loose on as much as he wants without care.. he's on my list of who not to hang around" said Benrey as he could see and hear everything but they can't as he's concealed that even his smell, mana, sound won't be detected
"It looks like her mood changed as well, it's more violent now does she hold a major grudge against them or something"
It spoke again since no one responded to it
"Nothing to say I see, not even why we only showed ourselves now or why this city?" he spoke
"We'll find out even without you telling us but who said we didn't know about your kind making moves?" She said with a cold voice
"Oh so you do know how to talk and you're right but words could be deceiving" he said smirking
"What do you mean by that" asked Brogden as he had already got over his initial shock
"You'll find out if you survive today" after speaking that he rushed towards the two and swung his claw down on them at quick speed
As the both of them dodged his attack and pulled out a long sword and two short swords. Brogden, who has the long sword rushed as the monster before he decided to strike again and swung his sword fuses with mana in a downward slash.
He missed as the monster slipped past his sword then took it's hand and was about to thrust his claw through Brogden's chest but stopped mid strike because of Elise.
He felt a wind infused with the fire element coming towards him so he stopped and dodge out the way in order for the attack to miss him. He smirked looking at the two as Brogden had his eyes open wide as almost having his heart ripped out.
"Don't think of this as your typical monster or eyes next time could really be your life so focused and don't hold back his speed is even better than I thought" said Elise to Brogden who composed himself and got ready for the next round
"Hehe good, this is good before I kill you both I let you know the name of the one who will kill you" said the monster
"Name, what does he mean ?" Asked Brogden
"As what he said, his type are what we called evolved monsters that once they reached a certain level will gain a name and could speak the common world's language fluently" said Elise as she thought he must be high in the monster ranking to have a name
"Yes you're correct but some of us got our name way before reaching that level but enough about that I tell you my name now… it's Detrak, the monster demon of speed and now that you know it you both may die in…" before he could finished both Elise and Brogden made a joint attack as they attack from both sides of Detrak before he finished
Seeing as they were about to land a hit with their swords, what happened next almost caught them by surprise. Detrak, as they thought was sure to be hit, appeared behind them as he left an afterimage of himself.
He swung both claws this time infused them with dark magic which on impact could corrupt someone who has no resistance to it. But seeing as they used their swords to block his attack they also felt how strong he was.
'He's no pushover, he's almost as strong as a SS rank adventurer though' thought both of them
"We need to deal with his speed first if we can at least slow him down or catch him off guard then we could deals great deal of damage to him " said Elise to Brogden
"I know but how his speed is crazy even I'm having a hard time keeping up, if not for master's training back then I would have already died by now", he replied back
"I might have an idea for us to cope with his speed" she said
"Oh what are you two discussing over there... Have you finished?" said Detrak showing that creepy smirk of his
"Nothing" she said as she gave Brogden a look after coming up with a plan
He nodded back with seriousness as he readied his sword
"Those two are about to do something interesting but reckless at the same time maybe they could pull it off… but if not.... hmmm... sh*t are you kidding me.. this can't be happening what terrible luck they have" said a concealed Benrey as he looked on at the three's battle that was about to have an unexpected turn of events
'Looks like I might have to intervene after all, that idiot is still in that mode… well it's fine I can make a move at anytime without being found out any way if things go south' he thought
Looking at the new arrival he decided to wait and see for now
"Why are you here?....Matiera" said Detrak
