Othisis Temple Dig Site

2 months have passed since Jonah left Clara and Doli city behind him. During this time, Jonah has been trying to involve himself in random dangerous things. He got tired of waiting for the Hunter exam registration in 4 months, he would take things as they come, and he would take the exam whenever fate decided it was conveniently time to.

Life took a dull turn because Jonah hadn't found many interesting things. He was so bored, he eventually started throwing himself into stupid and dangerous situations just for the hit of adrenaline. For example, he threw himself into a burning building to save a child's trapped dog, he sprinted into a truck's path on a highway to save a wild faun, and he even joined the local detectives at the police department. He involved himself in their cases even solving some of them directly, which got him chased out.

But none of this felt adventurous to Jonah, he didn't feel the thrill of adventure. He was feeling a bit depressed after not finding anything interesting for so long. Having a normal routine life, was just not something he enjoyed. He could handle waking up with a coffee every morning, but that was about as much of normal that Jonah.

Jonah leaned back in the chair on the deck of the VSS Liberation ship. He felt the wind on his face. On the horizon, he could see an approaching island, which was actually his destination. The island had the huge port city of Baley, which was said to be surrounded by sites set up by archeologists studying the remains of a suspected ancient human civilization. Jonah came here attracted by the rumors.

"Jonah, I can see that you are here as usual," A neatly dressed man said, glancing at the island in the distance.

"Of course, Captain" Jonah nodded.

"We should arrive in about 2 hours. Go get yourself ready, kid," the captain responded, then turned and left.

...

1 hour and 59 mins later.

Jonah started the engine on his motorcycle and drove away from the port leisurely. He stopped for breakfast at a diner and asked for directions to the local archeological sites from the locals there. It was about midday, but the time the city of Baley faded behind him, with only a long empty dirt road spreading into the distance in front of him.

Jonah continued on, stopping occasionally to eat the snacks he stored from the diner. Eventually, he saw a black dot on the side of the road in the distance. As he drew closer, he knew what it was, it was a jeep with two men on the side of the road.

"Is there anything I can help you with?" Jonah asked as he came to a stop next to the jeep.

The two men were middle-aged, with slight wrinkles on their faces and uneven beards. One of them had a ginger red beard, round circular glasses, and a long nose. While the other was slightly shorter in stature with a brown beard and a balding spot at the center of the top of his head. He was sweating profusely and his skin clearly reflected a red sunburn on the open areas of his bald head.

"Well, thank you, young man," the balding man said, breathing hard while waving at him.

Jonah parked his motorcycle and took a look at the inner workings of their jeep through the car's hood. Jonah had spent many hours with his mother, fixing up cars, motorcycles, and other kinds of vehicles at his family's garage. As long as it ran on gas, he could figure out the vehicle.

"Do you know what happened?" the balding man asked Jonah while he checked the compression valves, the car battery, and other crucial components.

"Could it be the battery?" the red-bearded man asked.

"Nope, definitely not. I just checked it." Jonah shook his head and checked the car's oil.

"Ah, I found the problem. Did you fill this up recently?" Jonah asked.

"Well, not us personally. But everything should have been taken care of by Morgan." the balding man said, a bit unsure.

"Well, you probably have an oil leak. You are better off getting a lift to any place nearby. To get some patches for it." Jonah said, closing the hood of the jeep.

"By the way, let me introduce myself. My name is Jonah Joestar. I'm a traveler." Jonah smiled at the two men and stuck out his hand to introduce himself.

"Nice to meet you, young lad. I'm Kinly Crossman." the red-haired man answered.

"And I'm Otto Noel," the balding man said, smiling.

"Our camp is just 20 miles ahead. Do you mind giving one of us a ride on your bike Jonah? We forgot to bring a phone." Otto asked, scratching his beard in embarrassment.

"Haha, it's no problem at all!" Jonah laughed.

"Then Otto, I'll go ahead with the lad, you wait just a moment, we will be back within an hour," Kinly said.

Without much further discussion, Jonah got back on his bike along with Kinly. They rode quickly until the campsite came into view. Two soldiers with rifles pointed their weapons at them at the entrance.

"Stop! Identify yourself." one of the soldiers yelled.

"That's it, lad, let me do the talking here. Morgan's security is a bit jumpy about strangers" Kinly patted Jonah's shoulder and got off the bike.

"Hello! We had an accident about 20 miles back. Could you let us through, we need a patch for the oil tank of our jeep." Kinly explained quickly.

The soldiers recognized Kinly, as they lowered their weapons. They came together and said a few things quietly.

"Professor Kinly, Morgan has been wondering what happened to you both. He was going to send a search party if you didn't show up in an hour." the soldier explained back.

"Yeah yeah, it's not our fault! The jeep had an oil leak! That's the responsibility of the site manager" Kinly defended himself.

"... couldn't you have contacted camp when the jeep stalled?" the other soldier asked.

"That- right well we just couldn't do that!" Kinly said, his face red in embarrassment. He didn't want to admit that Otto and he had forgotten their phones before they left.

The soldiers looked at each other and then back at Kinly.

"And who is that on the motorcycle? Don't you remember Morgan's rule about non-participants?" the soldier pointed at Jonah rudely.

Right, when they were about the continue questioning Kinly, their radios buzzed and a deep voice came through the radio.

"The entrance has been confirmed. All camp, be ready in an hour for exploration. " the radio buzzed.

"And Moris, did you spot the professor's vehicle yet?" the voice over the radio asked one of the soldiers next to Kinly.

"Morgan, Kinly is here. He and professor Otto's jeep had an oil leak and stalled about 20 miles from camp. " the soldier, Moris, reported.

The radio was silent for a few seconds before Morgan responded.

"Go bring them back. "

"Sir, Kinly brought back a non-participant. What are your instructions?" Moris asked Morgan over the radio.

"Let me take a look after the professors are back. For now, don't let him out of your sight." Morgan ordered.

"There you have it" Kinly nodded to himself.

"You should come with us." Moris motioned for Jonah to follow them back to another jeep.

Jonah left his bike and hopped into the jeep alongside, Moris, and Kinly. They traveled back to Otto and the jeep, filling it with oil and applying a simple patch on the leak, allowing the jeep to start. Otto followed them back to the camp safely. During this time, Jonah was enjoying chatting with Kinly about his 'adventures', which mostly involved beautiful young women. Kinly was glad that Jonah wasn't bothered by the situation earlier. Any normal teenager would be scared after having rifles pointed at him and being threatened, but Jonah remained relaxed and seemed to have forgotten about it. Moris, was annoyed by Jonah's attitude. He occasionally interjected in the group's conversation with sarcastic jabs about Jonah's age and other petty things.

The campsite team fully arrived and gathered at the central building near the dig site. Everyone had excited expressions on their faces as they talked about the discovery this morning in light tones. Jonah was there as well talking with Otto and Kinly.

Finally, the talk quieted down as an intimidating man with a black baret on his head caught everyone's attention. He quietly scanned the room, with his attention stopping on Jonah for a few seconds, then continued and announced.

"The entrance to the mythical Othisis temple was found."
