Episode 1

Cynthia, was only 18 years old when she ran away from home.

Cynthia hailed from a wealthy family, but still, she felt unloved and unwanted.

Cynthia's step-sister, Amber, treated her horribly and it offends Cynthia to know that her parents weren't going to stop Amber from humiliating her.

It broke her heart to know that her mother especially wasn't going to do anything about it.

One cold Christmas day, Cynthia decided to visit her paternal grandfather who was living not too far away!

"Grandfather is the only one who loves me, it's obvious you and Dad, doesn't care about me, I don't want to spend Christmas here, I'm tired of being humiliated and I dont want your husband to yell at me again, I want to visit grandpa," Cynthia said to her mother who stared at her daughter almost in tears.

It was obvious that it broke her heart to hear her daughter refer to her father in that manner.

"I love you a lot my child, I wish I could tell you how much I love you, I want to explain everything to you right now but my hands are tied," Cynthia's mother thought, all she wanted that moment was to clear up the misunderstanding between her and her daughter.

But the promise she made to her husband, 10 years ago, held her back.

Cynthia's mother cleared her throat and said in a low tone

" Cynthia, you have my permission, go visit your grandpa"

Without saying a word, Cynthia left her mother's presence.

Soon she left the huge compound that she grew up in, and soon she arrived at her grandfather's house, on seeing his favorite granddaughter on Christmas day, the old man welcomed Cynthia in smiles.

"I knew you will come today, my child you are the only one that cares for me, I want you to know that my heart blesses you, you are blessed my child, you don't know how lonely I have been all morning," The old man said in smiles.

Apart from spending Christmas with her grandfather, Cynthia was there to find out from the old man, if she was her parent's daughter, as she had begun to feel like a stranger in her parent's house.

She couldn't understand why her step-sister Amber gets all their parent's love while all she got was penalties and scolding.

It was so disheartening for the Teenager as her parents especially her father always choose Amber over her. Her father would scold and chastise her because of Amber, and it's painful for her especially when she wasn't wrong.

She still couldn't understand why Amber was her stepsister.

So if Amber was her stepsister then her mother might not be her real mother, She had thought

An hour later, Cynthia and her grandfather had lunch together and after their meal, they sat down in the living room watching television. Some moments later,

Cynthia was elated when her grandfather surprised her with a Christmas present, when she opened it, she was thrilled when she saw a brand new smartphone.

She remembered how many times she had begged her parents for a smartphone, instead, her father bought a smartphone for Amber.

Cynthia hugged her grandfather happily as she thanked him

After some time, Cynthia threw in.

"Grandpa, Who is my real mother?"

And the old man replied "your mother of course"

"If she is truly my mother, then who is Amber's real mother?" Cynthia asked curiously.

And the old man replied again

"Amber's mother is long dead, she is your father's first wife, she died while Amber was just 5 years old" Grandfather replied and Cynthia was shocked

"I am 3 years older than Amber, if Amber's mother died while she was 5 years old, then that means I was 8 years old at the time, Grandpa if Amber's mother was my father's first wife, does that mean my mother was a Mistress at the time, I'm I THE DAUGHTER OF A MISTRESS?" Cynthia concluded.

Cynthia's grandfather didn't know much about the issue as his son had always been distant from him. Cynthia's father wasn't that close to his old man.

All the old man could remember was that he forced his son to marry Amber's late mother, at the time all the old man wanted was to cement his relationship with his best friend, who had a beautiful daughter, after much disagreement between the father and son, Cynthia's father agreed to marry Amber's late mother and in no time they bore Amber and five years after, Amber's mother died.

The old man was quiet and lost in thoughts that he had no idea that Cynthia had taken his silence for a "yes".

Grandfather was so lost in his thoughts that he did not know when Cynthia stormed out of the living room with her new smartphone.

When the old man came out of his thoughts, he was shocked to find out that her granddaughter had left without saying goodbye.

From that day, Cynthia's hatred for her parents increased, most especially, she hated her mother, for being A MISTRESS to a man that was already married.

Amber wasn't helping matters as she always looked for an opportunity to get Cynthia into trouble with her father.

One day, Amber was sighted eating her meal, while Cynthia was sitting down quietly, watching television.

A while ago, her mother had instructed her to do the dishes and she was done with that chore as she sat down quietly in the living room, watching television, and then Amber's voice came resounding from the dinner table.

"Hey you" Amber a 15 years old spoiled brat, said pointing to Cynthia.

"Hey you Cynthia, I'm calling you, can't you see that I am done eating, you should come over here and take these dirty dishes to the kitchen and make sure to wash them thoroughly " Amber entered rudely.

"Amber, are you mad? I'm I your mate, I am 18 years old now, I am three years older than you and you still have the gut to order me around, take your dirty dishes to the kitchen, and wash them, you are no longer a child and I can't be cleaning after you all the time" Cynthia entered.

Amber responded rudely as she cursed and insulted Cynthia.

"Cynthia you are useless! You are wicked, just like your mother, you are a curse to this family, you a useless DAUGHTER OF A useless MISTRESS, you an illegitimate daughter of this family, you might be older but I'm the only legitimate daughter of this family, all father owns will one-day become mine, wait and see" Amber said arrogantly while Cynthia was Speechless, as she stared at her troublesome stepsister shockingly.

Cynthia didn't say a word to Amber, she just ignored her and focused on the TV.

But Amber suddenly had an idea, she always loved it when their father would scold or rebuke Cynthia

Amber quickly ran into their father's bedroom to report Cynthia.

Mr. Stephen, their father was working on his laptop when Amber walked into his bedroom in tears.

Mr. Stephen always hated to see Amber in tears, her mother was long gone and He had vowed to be there for his motherless daughter.

No wonder, he pampered Amber and neglected Cynthia because he had thought, "Cynthia has her mother, while Amber has only me"

So he unconsciously pampered and spoilt Amber while he also unconsciously neglected and wronged Cynthia.

"My princess, what happened to you?" Mr. Stephen asked.

"It's Cynthia, she hit me, she slapped me and she hit my head on the wall" Amber lied.

At the mention of Cynthia, Mr. Stephen growled "Cynthia!"

He reached for his belt and headed straight to the living room.

On getting to the living room, Mr. Stephen pounced on Cynthia with the belt in his right hand, he never bothered to hear Cynthia's side of the story, the senseless man concluded that Cynthia was wrong.

When he was done hitting Cynthia with the belt, he warned Cynthia sternly

" you should stop bothering Amber, you are 3 years older than her, still you behave like a child"

When Mr. Stephen left the sitting room, Amber gave out a mocking sound and she was in smiles, it was obvious she enjoyed the show. She was delighted as she glared at Cynthia mockingly.

"That serves you right," Amber said mockingly.

And Cynthia replied, "Don't be happy because you succeeded in destroying someone's life with lies, a time will come for you to cry".

Cynthia's mother who had been watching the two girls from a distance, shook her head in pity, at the same time, she was marveled at the wise words that escaped her young daughter's mouth, The confused woman observed the whole drama from a distance, she saw how Amber mocked her daughter.

"Why would Stephen treat our daughter unfairly, no it's not right, Cynthia is also her daughter, I have never differentiated between Cynthia and Amber, I considered them both my children, he has spoilt Amber so much, that she has become so troublesome, I know why I'm keeping quiet" Cynthia's mother, Mrs. Felicia thought sadly.

She decided to speak to her husband about it and make him change his behavior towards Cynthia, their daughter.

Directly she headed straight to her husband's bedroom to have a word with him. Once she got into her husband's bedroom,

She tabled her displeasure and reminded her husband of how he held Cynthia in his arms on the day she was born.

"I won't forget how you held a little Cynthia in your arms and you promised to protect her with your life and you blessed her in smiles, Cynthia is still that baby you once promised to love and protect" Mrs. Felicia reminded her husband in a low tone

but her husband's response was disappointing.

"Cynthia is no longer a child, and don't forget Amber is also my child, Cynthia is the older one, she has to be responsible and well behaved, I don't know why she keeps bothering poor Amber, what has the motherless child done to Cynthia, warn her, I would deal with her, if she keeps bothering Amber, do you expect me to ignore her when she misbehaves, she deserves the beating she got" Mr. Stephen replied straightforwardly.

He avoided having eye contact with his wife as he knew well enough that his wife was angry with him, Instead of listening to his wife's complaint, he blamed Cynthia!

And that boiled Cynthia's mother.

"I don't like the way you are always siding Amber if my daughter ever feels rejected again, I will have no choice but to set things right, enough is enough," Mrs. Felicia said with a straight face.

And then walked away.

She went straight to her daughter's bedroom and was surprised to meet her absence, instead, she saw a note that was written by her daughter, Cynthia had left a note on her dresser. The note reads

"I feel like I'm not needed here, I'm leaving, don't bother to look for me because you will never find me, I'm going far away"

Cynthia's mother almost lost her breath but when she comported herself, she stormed her husband's bedroom with the note on her left hand

"You see, my daughter had left the house all because of you, I warned you, now see, I don't know that you are a selfish man, I have been patient but not anymore if anything happens to my daughter, I will burn down this house" Mrs. Felicia growled and at the same time she cried

Mr. Stephen was so shocked but he tried his best to console his wife.

"Don't be scared, nothing will happen to our daughter, she must have moved to my father's house, you know how close they are, I'm going there right now to bring our daughter home"

And Cynthia's mother believe her husband cared.

Mr. Stephen reached for his car key and zoomed off to his father's house.

It has been two years since he visited his father, they share no bond but the only person who constantly visited him was Cynthia, her granddaughter.

Mr. Stephen was positive that he would find her first daughter at his father's house.

On getting there, his father was shocked to see him.

With a frowned face he asked

"Stephen, why are you here? Did you suddenly remember that you have a father?"

"I'm not a child that will always need his father, after all, I always make sure you have food and money, or do you think you are still a wealthy man" Mr. Stephen responded without showing any emotions.

Ignoring what his son had said, the old man repeated.

"Why are you here, if you are here to lament like a girl on how I ruined your life, then get out of my house, you disrespectful brat" Cynthia's grandfather entered in a straight face.

"Is... My daughter here... I mean Cynthia... He ran away from home and I know she is here, call her out right now, I will deal with her mercilessly" Mr. Stephen finally revealed.

"Cynthia ran away?! Oh my God, what have you done to my granddaughter, where could she be?" The old man wailed.

he quickly picked up his cellphone and dialed Cynthia's phone number, Mr. Stephen was shocked when he noticed that his father was calling her missing daughter on the phone.

"Cynthia has a phone? Who bought her a phone?" Mr. Stephen asked but the old man ignored his son as he waited patiently for her granddaughter to pick up his call.

Finally, Cynthia answered her grandfather's call.

"Hello, where are you, my child?" Grandpa asked in a worried tone

"I'm home" Cynthia lied

"No you are not home my child, your father is here asking about you" Grandpa added

And then it was dawn on Cynthia that she had to say the truth.

"I'm sorry grandpa, I truly left the house, my parents don't love me, I don't know why. I have tried my best to endure and that maybe one day they will learn to love me, but today, your son.... beat the hell out of me with his belt. All because of Amber and even worst my mother did nothing to save me from my father. Grandpa, no one loves me in that house...that's why I left, please forgive me, I promise I will make you proud, I will always adhere to your advice, I won't mess up myself, I will work hard to succeed" Cynthia said at the other end of the phone, the call was on loudspeaker so Mr. Stephen heard everything her daughter had said.

Before grandpa would say a word, Cynthia hung up.

Grandpa tried to call her granddaughter back to persuade her to return to him but Cynthia had switched off her phone after she hung up.

Grandpa suddenly became worried for her grandchild, and he turned to his son

"what have you done?" Grandpa said almost in tears while Mr. Stephen ignored him and walked away speechlessly.

He knew his wife would be devastated if she finds out that her daughter had left the house only because of him, so he came up with a story.

"I'm just coming back from my father's house, you won't believe your daughter ran away with a boy, I knew she was useless and irresponsible, all I was doing was to discipline her but see what happened, even my father confirmed It, my father saw the face of the boy he ran away with, and he had described the boy's look to the police" Mr. Stephen Lied and Mrs. Felicia had no choice but to believe her husband.

After all, Cynthia was also his daughter.

Mrs. Felicia broke down in tears as Mr. Stephen consoled her. He felt bad for lying against his daughter but he knew his wife would reveal their secret to Amber and that will break Amber's heart.

Cynthia's mother was so disappointed in her daughter that she instantly disowned her in her mind and she vowed not to look for her or worry about her.

On the other hand, Cynthia found herself in a strange but busy city called Port Harcourt. It took her almost 10 hours to get to Port Harcourt from Lagos.

She arrived at a Catholic church that someone had directed her to.

On arriving at the church she saw a Reverend sister to whom she explained her ordeal and how she knew no one in the city.

The Reverend Sister took her to the Reverend Father who rebuked her from running away from home but then he took pity on her and then he said

"Well I have seen the birth certificate you showed me, you are not a minor, you can stay at the Reverend sister's quarters, but you have to behave yourself, I don't want to hear any bad report about you," The reverend Father said and Cynthia nodded in acceptance.

"I don't know where my father is, he is not a child, he could go anywhere he likes" Mr. Steve replied.

"I can't believe I married a heartless son and a wicked father like you, what has your father, done to you, tell me," Mrs. Felicia asked.

"You know what he did, he forced me into Marriage with Sonia, when I was already married to you" Mr. Steve responded.

"But you never told him that we were married, grandpa told me you never disclosed that we were married, I made the biggest mistake of my life, when I gave you the go-ahead to marry Sonia, I agreed because I didn't want your father to disown you, but what did you do, you didn't only keep me and my child a secret but you fell in love with Sonia and you even impregnated her, that was a woman that you claimed you never wanted to marry, I was a fool for believing you, if not for your Father that I ran to after Sonia's death, I And Cynthia would still be a secret... It broke her heart to hear a man he sacrificed everything for comparing her to a dead Sonia, one thing was obvious, Mrs. Felicia has come to realize that her husband doesn't love her, maybe he did at a point but not anymore.

She wished she didn't place her husband above her daughter.

"The only good thing I have in my life, I have sacrificed for him but what did he do for me, Steve brought only pain to my life and I let him ruin my life like this, Cynthia please forgive me, I need you, my child," Mrs. Felicia thought in tears as she walked into her bedroom and locked the door. She fell to the floor in tears, as she cried regretfully.

Soon, Cynthia started dating, Even though she has not fully recovered from the emotional pain, her parent's rejection impacted her.

Her parent's rejection had damaged her mood and her self-esteem.

No wonder she agreed to date someone like William. A 30 years old guy that appears to be controlling and manipulative.

The first thing William did immediately they started dating was to convince her to leave the church.

"Why are you still living in the church when you are a star, you can get an apartment somewhere you are not a child, you are 22 years old, and trust me you can be by yourself," William said manipulatively and Cynthia agreed.

Cynthia was naive, she thought if she was transparent to Williams that their relationship won't have troubles and it could lead to a long-lasting relationship like marriage.

Cynthia had no idea that Williams was a gold digger that was only interested in her fame and money.

Not too long, Cynthia moved out of the church to the new apartment that she got somewhere in town.

The priest thought Cynthia knew exactly what she was doing, so he didn't object. He prayed for her and advised her to make peace with her family.

Cynthia nodded but deep down, she wasn't going to forgive a family that rejected her.

"I have Williams now, and I hope we will be together forever," she thought.

The main reason Williams convinced Cynthia of getting her apartment was so he could seduce her.

Cynthia was the type that believed in sex after marriage but soon Williams began to pester her for sex, she felt uncomfortable and helpless but when she remembered her promise to her grandfather, she stand firm in her decision.

"No this is not right, we are not married yet, we can't do this " Cynthia would say but still Williams persisted but Cynthia would push him away.

This continued for months but one day Williams threatened to end their relationship if she continues to push him away.

"I love you but I see you don't love me too, so let's end this" Williams said in his usual manipulative manner.

"I promised my grandfather that I won't mess up myself, please don't end this relationship, Williams believes me, I love you, I could do anything for you," Cynthia said in tears.

"I don't want to lose you, you are the best thing in my life, I don't have anyone but you, please don't leave me" Cynthia added

On seeing the tears on Cynthia's eyes, Williams smiled within.

"Then you will have to prove your love for me," He said

"How?" Cynthia implored

"I don't know, think!" Williams said, he knew Cynthia was naive, and she could anything to prove her love.

Cynthia silently walked to her wardrobe and soon she returned with a signed cheque of 5 million naira with Williams's name fully and boldly written on it

"I have 20 million in my bank account and I want you to have 5Million," she said.

And Williams smiled Within and he collected the Cheque.

"The cash is even better than the sex, it would be boring sex with a virgin like her," he thought and hugged Cynthia like he cared.

"I love you so much," He said and Cynthia smiled.

"Willy, don't you ever think of leaving me, or else I will die, I told you how my parents treated me, the only family I have is you... And grandpa" Cynthia unconsciously said as her thoughts went to grandpa and she decided to give grandpa a call later.

From that day forward Cynthia would foolishly give out her money to Williams all in the name of Love.

She gave grandpa a call that same day and she felt bad to know that grandpa was at the home for the elderly.

She told grandpa how she had become a Movie star and grandpa was excited.

"I knew you will make me proud my child," Grandpa said with smiles

A few days later Cynthia visited grandpa at the home of the elderly, the sickly old man bounced back to life, immediately he saw his granddaughter. The will to live life suddenly enveloped him.

After that day, Cynthia moved grandpa to Port Harcourt and they stayed together at her apartment.

With Grandpa around, Williams felt uncomfortable whenever he visited Cynthia, it felt as if Grandpa detest him the moment he meet him and he warned his granddaughter about him but Cynthia who was in love didn't take what grandpa said to heart.

They both meet in a restaurant most of the time because Williams claimed he was squatting with his cousin, Cynthia had no idea that Williams lived together with his girlfriend, Edith.

It was so heartbreaking when Cynthia decided to buy him a new house even though she stays in a rented apartment, just before Cynthia brought Grandpa to Live with her in Port Harcourt, she had bought a classic car that worth over 10 million for him while she still boards cabs whenever she went for a movie shoot, her love for Williams was selfless but for how long will she continue to love the person who had no good intentions for her

" we will live together in that house one day, it's for our future," she told herself naively.

For 6 months all the money she earned was saved for that plan.

And when the money was enough to purchase, a house, she gladly called her estate agent that she needed a fine house situated in a fine place.

She told the agent her budget and in a few weeks, she found a fine house that she loved and she paid immediately for it

When she presented the house gift to her lover, Williams was so excited, it was like a dream come true for him.

He had received so much money from Cynthia that he had become a millionaire in a short while.

"I will finally marry My love, Edith" Williams thought in smiles as he took a tour around his new house with Cynthia.

Suddenly, Williams went on his left knees and he held Cynthia's hands.

"Cynthia, I love you so much... you are such a darling. I want to spend the rest of my life with you, Thia, my Love will you marry me?"

Williams said dramatically, and Cynthia "Yes" at once.

But when she noticed that Williams's hands were empty, she wondered why he proposed with no engagement ring

"My love, I know you will be wondering why I propose without a ring... I assure you that I want to marry you, Tomorrow I am going to buy a beautiful diamond engagement ring, I swear," Williams said, and Cynthia smiled.

That same day, Williams invited Cynthia to dinner at a classic restaurant.

In his own words "let's celebrate our engagement, my love I am inviting you to dinner"

And Cynthia hugged him excitedly.

It was time for their date and they both arrived at the classic and cozy restaurant separately. After a while, they sat down to a delicious meal after the meal, Williams lied that he forgot his credit card at home and he urged Cynthia to pay the bill and she gave out her Credit Card to the Waitress, to clear their bills.

But that night something happened that changed everything.

"My love, you should go home, I have an important errand to run" Williams suddenly said and Cynthia was shocked.

"It's 10 pm, it's difficult to get a cab to my house, please drop me off" Cynthia pleaded but she was shocked when Williams bluntly refused.

"That's your problem, I have brought you out to celebrate our engagement and if I didn't you will be alone with your crampy grandpa," Williams said and Cynthia couldn't believe her ears.

Cynthia walked away quietly, she was almost at the bus stop when she realized that she forgot to collect her Credit Card from the waitress.

She then walked back to the Restaurant and then she walked into the scene where Williams was on his knees with a diamond ring on his right hand, he was proposing to no other but his girlfriend, Edith.

Cynthia was heartbroken, She couldn't believe her eyes.

Edith had said "Yes" and some people at the restaurant cheered and congratulated Williams and Edith. While Cynthia stared at them with tears in her eyes.

"I can't believe that Williams has been using me for my money, I thought he love me, oh I was such a fool, I spent all my money on him," Cynthia thought as she sighted the same waitress that she gave her Credit Card too, she walked closer and demanded her card and the Waitress dipped her hands into her Apron and gave her the Card.

" I'm sorry," the waitress said and Cynthia nodded and walked away.

On her way home, Cynthia vowed to make Williams pay.

"It's would have been okay if he had dumped me or rejected me after all my parents did but for taking my hard-earned money, I will never let it sly, I will get all my money even double" Cynthia vowed.

Cynthia regretted all the things she did for Williams, she wished she knew better.

That same day, Cynthia trekked all her way home as it was difficult for her to get a cab at that time, and there at the entrance of her street, she meet a little boy crying.

Cynthia looked around to see if someone was with the boy but it was obvious that he was alone.

She stopped and walked a little closer to the little boy.

"Why are you crying?" And the little boy was quiet, Cynthia brought out her phone from her bag and she turned on her phone's flashlight to see the boy's face properly.

And then she saw that boy was looking so healthy and well dressed too.

He was wearing a nice neat outfit and he was a chubby boy.

"Where are your parents? why are you here?" Cynthia asked softly

"My mummy went to heaven and my Daddy refused to take me to heaven, so I left the house to find my mom but I don't know I can't find my way to heaven or my house" The chubby boy revealed.

Cynthia didn't understand much but at least she knew the boy lost his way.

"Is there a place called heaven in Port Harcourt?" Cynthia asked herself

But when she realized what the boy meant, she felt like crying.

"Your mom is dead right?" Cynthia asked and the boy nodded and said "my mom is in heaven now, please can you take me to Heaven" The little boy asked and Hugged him in tears.

She told him that it was difficult to locate Heaven.

"Only God can take one to heaven, Heaven is not port Harcourt" Cynthia explained and the boy nodded.

Cynthia was confused, it was unsafe to bring a child she knew nothing about home but she wasn't going to leave him there either.

She wouldn't be able to forgive herself if anything bad happens to the little boy.

She quickly made a decision, but first, she would get to know the little boy better.

She introduced herself to the little boy and the boy did the same.

"My name is Eric Junior, I am 4 years old, I live in no 9 Eric Moore Street, Old GRA Port Harcourt" The boy revealed as he unconsciously revealed his house address

Cynthia smiled as she made Eric repeat himself over and over again.

She recorded the boy while he repeated himself, so she won't forget what the boy said

Old GRA was a bit far from where Cynthia lived and it was already midnight.

Aside from being heartbroken she was exhausted and sleepy.

"Grandpa will be worried if I stay longer outside and it's not safe for me to be out by this time, what if the boy said a wrong address, then it would be nothing," Cynthia thought

And there she decided to take Little Eric home and the first thing the next day, they will set out for the Old GRA.

Cynthia offered to take the boy home and he accepted without hesitation.

"I was so scared and cold out here" The Little boy revealed as he hugged Cynthia.

That day an unusual bond was created between Cynthia and the Chubby boy.

It felt like they knew each other before now as they held hands and headed straight to Cynthia's Apartment.

The next day, Cynthia prepared a delicious breakfast for everyone and Eric ate to his content.

"You are a good cook" Eric praised Cynthia and she replied in smiles "and you are a good foodie" and they both smiled including grandpa.

So after Breakfast, the chubby boy Eric and Cynthia departed for Old GRA.

On getting to the address, the little boy smiled.

"Aunty Cynthia, this is my house, how did you know," Eric asked in smiles.

"Because you told me" Cynthia responded

"I did?" The boy asked as he knocked on the gate.

In no time, the gate Keeper came and opened the gate and he stared at the young lady and the little boy at the gate but one more stare at Eric his face lightened up in smiles. The gatekeeper seemed surprised when he saw Eric.

"Small Oga, where did you go? We look everywhere for you, your father couldn't sleep last night" The Gate Keeper said in simple English.

The Gatekeeper dragged Eric inside and Cynthia couldn't help but walk in with them

The Gatekeeper called out for his boss who happened to be Eric's father.

And the man ran Out of the building, immediately to see why his gatekeeper was screaming.

On seeing his son, the man ran to his son.

The father and son hugged each other so tightly.

Cynthia was lost in her thought as she watched the father and son locked in each other's tight embrace.

She was thinking that maybe if she was born a boy, her father might have loved her like Eric's father loves his son.

But Eric's father's voice brought her back into reality.

"Who is she?" The man repeated but this time he directed his question to his gatekeeper.

Before Cynthia or the gateKeeper would say a word, Little Eric responded "Daddy, she is my new friend, she saved me, she cooked a nice meal for me and she brought me back home, her grandfather is also nice"

And Eric's Father stared at Cynthia speechlessly, even though Cynthia was an actress, not everyone knew her, especially someone like Eric's father, who was not only a businessman but a politician, he was wealthy, well connected but he never had time for entertainment.

When his wife died, he became more grumpy and colder, and he channeled his pain and sorrow into building an empire for his only son Eric.

He was Eric Senior, while his son was Eric junior. Eric Moore Senior was the most influential person in Port Harcourt and the country in general

Eric junior was his only child, and he doesn't mess with him, Eric Junior was not only his heir but the only son of the Moore empire, he loves his son so much. Eric Junior had been missing for less than 24 hours but his father had died a thousand death, he was afraid, he had prayed for his son's safety all night.

He had called the commissioner of police, the Inspector general of the Police force, and even some Army generals to help find his son.

Last night, all his related staffs were in trepidation as they couldn't explain how Eric junior had left the house without any of them knowing.

All of them had an expression that says disaster had fallen on them.

This happened because the CEO's Son of Eric Moore Corporation was missing. Eric Junior had 4 bodyguards, 4 nannies, 4 cooks, and the other 4 caregivers for whatever their young master would need.

All these Employees trembled when little Eric was declared missing. The Bodyguards, the gatekeeper, in, fact all the related staffs were ashamed and guilty, as they hope against hope that Eric junior will be found soon, and at the same time, they feared for the worst.

They felt bad to know that Little Eric went missing right under their watch.

Their boss paid them handsomely and they were entitled to so many mouth-watering bonuses and allowances, they had one job and that was to protect and give care to Little Eric, and they felt ashamed that they failed.

Even though the boss didn't yell at them, they trembled at the coldness in his voice, when he asked them how it happen.

That day, Eric Senior sat on the sofa, his face was chilly as well, not a single shred of extra feelings was showing on his body, but still, it was a frightening sight for every employee present, but no one knew that within him, he was boiling, his precious son has gone missing.

No one dared to utter a single word, in his presence, they talked only when he threw in a question. At the same time, their faces were teary as they feared for the little boy's safety, his father had so many enemies because of what he represents.

No wonder when the little boy showed up the next day, the gatekeeper seemed excited, when he screamed out in excitement, Eric senior and all other employees, stormed outside the building.

An unexplainable joy was seen on their faces when the Father and Son hugged each other.

The employee stared at the duo, in pure relief.

"Little Eric, where did you run off to?" One of Eric's nannies had asked as they all joined their hands together to give thanks to God.

After Little Eric introduced Cynthia to his father, his father squatted down in front of him and asked

"what happened? How did you leave the house without anyone, seeing you? And how did you meet her" he then pointed at Cynthia

And then little Eric explained, he told his father everything, and how Cynthia Found him last night and took him home.

And then Eric stared at Cynthia with gratitude written all over his eyes even though he still appeared cold.

Eric senior stared at Cynthia for a while, she is beautiful, he thought. Cynthia wore a fitted tailored green gown, outlining her nice figure and his indifferent expression was like that of a

Queen. He was mesmerized but still, he comported himself.

"Thank you for saving my son" he finally said, as he spoke, he abruptly lifted his eyes and fixed his gaze on her.

His cold gaze seemed to pierce right through her, giving her the creeps.

Even though his gaze made her uncomfortable, Cynthia managed to say, so nervously

"No need to thank me, sir, Your son saved himself, if not that he likes to talk, I wouldn't have known where to bring him to, he is a smart child, you did a good job raising him and now I know why he is so cute because he has a cute father...

"I'm cute... Huh," Eric senior thought to himself and scoffed.

And then he said coldly "do you mean my son saved himself, but you brought him home"

When Cynthia couldn't respond, little Eric left his father's side and walked closer to Cynthia, who touched the little boy's shoulder, as she continued to stare at the little boy's father, whose presence was intimidating for her, she then remembered she recorded Little Eric when he found him last night.

When she played the recording, Eric Senior didn't respond. He just nodded, he stood like an ice statue, if not because the father and son looked alike, Cynthia would never believe that a man as cold as him would bore a son as sweet as Little Eric.

It was as if they had been carved out of the same mold. It was obvious that they were biological father and son.

"Does he even Know-how or when to smile?" Cynthia thought to herself

And then, the man suddenly began to introduce himself to the young lady that saved his son and brought him back home to him '

"my name is Eric Moore senior and you already met my son Eric Moore junior"

At the mention of the name "Eric Moore" Cynthia suddenly went into a daze, "Eric Moore, he is Eric Moore?, the owner of the Eric Moore Corporation" Cynthia thought to herself.

Eric Moore, the god of wealth, as termed by the people of Port Harcourt, he was like the uncrowned emperor of the people of Port Harcourt.

Cynthia wouldn't have imagined that the little boy she saved last night would turn out to be Eric Moore's legendary son. Eric senior could see the surprised expression on Cynthia's face.

I thought she already knew who I was, I had guessed that she saved my son, only for the reward.

After a long while, Eric Senior finally believed that Cynthia now knows about little Eric's identity and how much he was worth, so for bringing his son home, safe and sound, she would be expecting a reward, which was fair enough

"state your request" Eric senior entered coolly.

"My request, what request?" Cynthia asked, she did not understand the word that appeared from nowhere.

"I know you are here to be rewarded, stop pretending, everyone wants money," Eric thought to himself and then he spoke out to Cynthia

" I want to thank you for saving my son, state your request, you deserve to be rewarded..10 million, 20 million or 100 million or even more"

Soon the PA arrived with a bottle of water and Eric served Cynthia a cup of water.

She drank the water and the cough stopped.

She hurriedly replied

"you are joking right because I dont understand all this"

" You saved my son, my heir, my beloved son, I dont know what will have happened if you didn't find him last night, he might be kidnapped or something or even worst killed, yes I know it was wrong for me to offer you money, but that's was the only thing that came to mind, I want to repay you with my body, be my wife, Marry me... Before Cynthia would Finish her sentence, Little Eric appeared with one of his nannies, the cute boy had changed into nicer house wear, he looked fresh, like he just had a bath.

Cynthia bides him goodbye and then she was set to leave.

Cynthia quickly left, before Eric Moore will change his mind, watching the girl go, Eric Senior had a deep expression, as if he was defeated for the first time.

When Cynthia left, Eric Senior couldn't understand why he asked Cynthia to marry him, it wasn't only because his son wanted that, it was much more than that.

"But I never meet her before, why those it feel like I could trust her, I asked her to marry me even though she was a total stranger, but I must admit she is a good girl, no one has ever rejected me or my money, many girls threw themselves at me, but she rejected millions today, I don't know if I should call her a fool but one thing is clear, she has a soft spot for my son," Eric Senior thought to himself.

That night all the father and son did was talk about Cynthia.

They wondered how they would meet Cynthia again but Little Eric later admitted that he knew her home address.

The next day, The chief Nanny requested to have a word with Eric Moore senior.

The middle-aged woman had politely told his PA, that she wanted to see their boss and have a word with him.

"We are about to leave for an important meeting but I will tell him that you are here" The PA replies as he walked in to inform Eric Senior about the Nanny.

Without hesitation, he said "Let her in, maybe she has something to say about my son, my son is way more important than any meeting"

And the PA nodded as he went to call in the Nanny.

In no time, The woman walked in, and she greeted her boss politely. After a while, the woman entered

"Sir, I know you will wonder why I want to have a word with you"

"Yes... It's everything okay, Is my son giving you troubles or what?" Eric Senior asked with a straight face.

"No... No... Not at all... Eric... Is a... Good boy" The woman stammered.

"Then what is it? Please say what you have to say, I have an important meeting in less than an hour" Eric senior entered with a dark expression.

The middle-aged woman was afraid but still, she summoned courage and said

"Sir, do you fancy that girl... I mean Cynthia. It's been 2 years since you lost madam and you haven't brought any girl home, talk much about proposing to her openly, I must admit Cynthia is a good girl...Yesterday... I noticed that her face was familiar, and just now when I was watching a movie on television, I saw her and I can tell what she does for a living... sir she is an actress"

Ignoring the woman's question, Eric senior thought with an angry-looking face

The woman was nervous as she wondered if she had overstepped her boundary by coming in there to talk about Cynthia.

"Is that what brought you here? You came in here to tell me about that?" Eric Senior asked

"Yes sir" The woman replied calmly, she was choked with fear.

She didn't understand why she asked if the boss fancied Cynthia, she was so frightened

"My Curiosity will kill me today," she thought in sweet fear.

Without uttering a word further, Eric senior dismissed her.

Even though he was pleased with the woman, his expression said otherwise.

The day before, Cynthia didn't get the role at the audition, and she was so devastated, she had spent all the money she had on acquiring the house for his ex, Williams, and too bad, she bought the house in his name. Cynthia was late on her bills and she needed that role to be able to make money but she was disappointed when the casting director choose another actress.

" yes you can act naturally but this movie requires an actress that is fit, there's a lot of fighting and running scenes, and you don't fit in this movie, I'm sorry," The Director said calmly.

The main reason why Cynthia was rejected was that she refused to agree to the director's demand, which is that she would have to sleep with the director.

The other actress that was selected fulfilled the director's demand, no wonder she was selected.

The next day as Cynthia remembered her conversations with the Director, a week before the Audition, the useless man shamelessly director had asked her to sleep with him for the role.

And Cynthia turned him down, She had no idea that the man would reject her because of that.

She had thought that when the man sees her acting capabilities that he would have no choice but to give her the role, but the reverse was the case

That same day, Cynthia got a phone call from the CEO of the entertainment company that managed her acting skills, she greeted the woman so politely, she quickly told the woman how she lost a role yesterday at the audition, and the woman assured her that the role that she lost would be given back to her.

Cynthia couldn't believe her ears.

When the call ended, Cynthia who was so excited, gave her grandfather the good news she got and the old man smiled happily.

It was already 2:20 pm that day, and Cynthia decided to leave so she could arrive early.

In no time, Cynthia was already on her way for her appointment.

But that day, the traffic was very bad, it was a rainy Friday and a big truck had fallen abruptly on the road, causing a huge obstruction.

So when Cynthia arrived, She was already late. It was 5:30 pm, Her excitement had long disappeared as she wondered if she would be rejected again this time because she was so late.

She cried within as she walked into the building, she wondered why she was ill luck.

"Why will a fallen truck obstruct the road today of all day, if I am rejected again, I will just end this miserable life of mine," she thought

Seeing Cynthia walking into the building, the woman who called earlier walked closer to meet her.

"Let's go inside and discuss properly, we have been waiting for you" The woman added and Cynthia was Surprised

"Did she just refer to me as " ma'am", and who are these people who are waiting for me?" She thought.

Cynthia and the woman walked into a group of people in the Conference room

They were all well dressed, it was obvious that they were important people. They were the major shareholders of the entertainment company Lucky Star Entertainment.

"You all already know our own Miss Cynthia, she was signed in to this entertainment company a few years ago as an actress, please welcome her, she is the person that we have been waiting for as she is the company's newest and biggest shareholder," The woman said and everyone present clapped and cheered for Cynthia.

The meeting was held to welcome and introduce Cynthia to the other company's shareholders, they were also referred to as the company's higher-ups. They were in charge of decision making in the company

Cynthia who was surprised turned to Natalie for an explanation.

But Natalie whispered to her

"I will explain better later"

Cynthia was the highest shareholder meaning whatever she wants goes, her wish would always be accepted and obeyed. She is so powerful now that she could replace the CEO if she so wished. No wonder Natalie was acting all nice, so she could retain her position.

To be the highest shareholder of a company like Lucky Star entertainment, one would have invested more than 10 billion naira and Cynthia couldn't understand what was happening.

Lucky Star entertainment was a company that managed, Singers, models and actors and they are the best entertainment company around the country and the continent at large.

After the meeting, Natalie handed over all the important documents to Cynthia for her to understand the situation.

"Here, someone bought these shares with your name and your address" The woman explained.

As Cynthia glanced through the papers, she wasn't surprised, when she saw a name, it was this person that bought these shares for her and made her the highest shareholder in the company.

"Eric Moore?" Cynthia said angrily

Without saying more words, she dismissed herself and left the building with the papers.

She boarded a cab to the New GRA and she stopped at the front of The Moore's residence.

One knock at the gate, The gatekeeper came to the gate.

On seeing Cynthia, the gatekeeper could easily recognize her, it was almost 7 pm and Eric Moore was just approaching his gate when he sighted Cynthia.

From afar, Eric senior could tell that the gatekeeper has told Cynthia about his absence and she turned around to leave.

On seeing this he quickly told his driver to honk the car, his gatekeeper quickly ran to the gate to open it while Cynthia's attention went to the classic car,

Eric senior had to roll down the car's window and his handsome face was revealed.

He wasn't alone, by his side was his son, Little Eric.

The little boy giggled when he saw Cynthia, and she smiled back.

Without giving Cynthia a chance to say a word

"But your name is boldly written on this papers, I told you that I don't want anything from you but you still went ahead to buy shares for me that are worth over 10billion naira," Cynthia said with a straight face

"Just read the paper again, it's not my money, it's my son's money, right my boy," Eric senior said and little Eric nodded and smiled.

Cynthia stared at the papers again with the street light that shined bright like daytime and she saw, "Eric Moore Junior"

Earlier, she had read through the documents hastily that she didn't notice, it wasn't Eric Senior but Eric Junior that paid for the shares.

"What's the difference, your son can't buy these shares, he is only a minor," Cynthia said

"Yes I know but it's not my money, it's my son's money, he had inherited his late mother's wealth, and I don't need that money, I have more than enough, so i told him about your troubles and he agreed to help you, yes I am in charged of my son's assets but I performed this transaction on behalf of my son " Eric Senior explained

"But I don't need this favor either, it's too much, I know you will want something in return," Cynthia said at once.
