CRENSHAW UNIVERSITY (1)

-They may be dead, but they live on, in your memory.

Hazel couldn't stop the gasps that went past her lips, as she took in the sight of the magnificent buildings, no, castles standing tall. She had been too nervous to appreciate the serene environment of the University, till she got to where the freshmen were to report to on arrival to the University, only she was two weeks late.

Having lost both her parents in an unfortunate accident, she had moved in with the only relative she had, Aunty Mae, her father's younger sister. She had been very supportive but Hazel had decided not to be a burden to anyone, not even to her Aunt.

Although, she had been nothing but nice, she had her family and responsibilities. And so, an acceptance letter from the University had been a perfect opportunity to leave her Aunt's house, not that she complained, but still.

Though, these past few months had been like hell without her parents, it was still nothing compared to the first few months, she had felt like her whole world came crashing down right before her eyes. She knew there was more than meets the eye, about the death of her parents, but what could she do about it? She was only but a nineteen year old, who had just lost the only things that had ever mattered to her. Her parents.

They had been both her parents and best friend. The rapport she had with them was like no other, they were her tutors, her best friends, her confidants, her role models and her whole world. She adored them just as much as they adored her.

But they were snatched away from her by the jaws of inescapable death, snatched away from her in a twinkle of an eye, the exact same day she celebrated her nineteen birthday.

Her life had been bleak after their death, she had just wanted to stay away from the outer world, away from everyone. But her Aunt and her family had been there for her, they had been with her every step of the way. Though nothing like what she shared with her parents, they were still very supportive. She had felt like a burden to everyone around her, to her parents even. She was different from other persons she knew, it made her feel odd, out of place, weird and different...... in a bad way.

Born with purple eyes, a speech disorder, black hair with a mixture of purple and been subjected to glasses her whole life, made her feel out of place, but not with her parents. They treated her like she was the most beautiful thing in the world.

But it didn't help that she was different from other people, different from even her parents. Her mother was a brunette with blue eyes, her father had black hair with dark brown eyes, which created a sharp contrast between her and her parents.

She had always wanted to know why she was different, but they'd always tell her that she was special and that 'special people are different'.

She didn't miss the judging eyes of people whenever they stared at her, as if telling her that she didn't belong with them. Hazel had grown up having no friends, her difference from others made her keep to herself most of the time as she could not communicate with others without stuttering, one of the things she felt embarrassed about.

But her parents were the only ones she did not feel embarrassed to talk to. After losing them both, she decided that keeping to herself was the best thing to do to save herself from the embarrassment. Losing the only people she could freely talk to without feeling out of place was the worse thing that had ever happened to her.

They were just..... Gone.

Never to be seen or heard again.

But they lived.......they lived in her heart.
