8 Chapter Seven

-Akira POV-

I sipped on the energy drink I had bought before getting on the train, ignoring the banter between Suguru and Satoru.

"Seriously? A grade two? It's like they don't respect our time, send someone else."

Satoru grumbled, leaning his head back and pouting. Geto just sighed, it would seem that his Gojo meter was reaching its limits. I just sipped my energy drink again.

"Where are we going anyway?"

I frowned, we got the debriefing, did he not listen? Of course, he did not listen, this is Gojo, the manchild.

"We are going to Chiba, there were reports about a curse that was estimated to be a second grade in an abandoned graveyard, we are to investigate it and deal with it accordingly."

Being the benevolent person I am, I informed him, but I wasn't nearly kind enough not to hit him over the head.

"Ow!"

Crossing one leg over the other, I waited for us to arrive.

"What's so special about it anyway? Seems like a waste of time."

Shoko just hummed from next to me, not really adding anything to the conversation, so Geto took the liberty to continue relaying the information we got during the debriefing.

"The curse appeared suddenly, it was most likely a weak curse at first and had time to mature, the estimation is grade two, but it might be grade one, so that is why we were sent. Any more questions?"

Gojo just huffed and crossed his arms like a child. I looked at him for a moment and then decided to ignore him. The mission should be a quick one, I could get some sleep on the way back.

So, with Gojo's whining in the background, we finally reached Chiba.

"So, you going to absorb this one too, Geto?"

I asked absently to converse, but that failed when Geto just nodded in affirmation.

Man, today continued to suck. The four of us made our way quietly to our destination, stopping on the way so Gojo could grab a drink from a vending machine.

My lips thinned when we neared the cemetery, feeling the negativity radiating from the place.

"Guys, would you believe me if I said that a person is in there?"

My head snapped to Gojo, who had his Six eyes activated. Despite what he said, he seemed unconcerned about the situation. My body tensed and I ran forward, absently noting that Suguru told Gojo to set up a curtain when we arrived.

The cemetery came into view and I rushed inside, cursed energy flowing through my body and increasing the drain on the Tattoo on my back.

Geto, Gojo, and Shoko caught up to me a moment later, as I took the chance to look around in an effort to locate either the curse or the civilian.

I noticed a figure, deeper into the cemetery, seemingly looking around, probably looking for a certain grave, but he was at the wrong place at the wrong time.

I felt the curtain begin to fall over us and was grateful that Gojo didn't just ignore the instructions given to him.

I picked up my speed, spotting a blur rushing to the civilian from the sides.

"Get Back!"

I wouldn't make it in time, and I doubted that he could react to the sudden attack since they could not see it in the first place.

This person would die just because we took our time getting here.

To my surprise, they bent their body back slightly, avoiding an attack that was aimed at their neck, and a second later water appeared out of thin air, forming a spinning cone and slamming into the curse that looked like a newly decomposed corpse, exorcising it effortlessly.

I paused as the person looked back, his confused, icy blue eyes meeting my own.

We stared at each other for a moment, confusion flooding both of us, before a sound from the right, the same direction the curse had come from before.

I frowned when more decomposed corpses materialized from the ground like they were climbing out of the earth, but it mainly looked like they were being summoned.

Before they could try anything though, a volley of squid-like curses barraged their brittle bodies, making them collapse.

"Akira! Is he hurt?"

Get ran up to me, and looked over at the guy that just exorcised a curse casually a second ago.

"Who are you people?"

The question came from the only outsider between us and I took the chance to look him over. Wearing a simple blue hoodie and black jeans, he would look like any other person on the street with that black hair.

But judging from what he did, he was anything but normal, he was either from Kyoto jujutsu school or a curse user.

"Yo! We're from Tokyo Jujutsu High, mind if I ask where you are from?"

He opened his mouth to answer but his head snapped to the side so fast that I thought I heard a few pops.

But what got his attention was rather concerning.

The surroundings were changing, reminding me of a domain, and it looked like it too.

"This thing couldn't do that before, the energy was just spreading to the outside-"

The random dude looked over at us accusingly.

"What did you do when you came here?"

What was his deal, we only set up a... curtain.

The curse was using the curtain as a makeshift barrier for its domain, most likely unintentionally. Meaning, this was partially our fault.

"What are you angry at us for? We just set up a curtain so that the normies could not see what we were doing!"

Gojo, the dumbass, complained about how the stranger was treating us and I gave into the urge to facepalm.

The sound of a resounding slap was followed by an explosion of a large amount of Cursed energy from right behind the stranger.

Great, just great.
