10 Jinxed It

Brianan woke us up early the next morning as she had promised… Josh was still a little groggy but he insisted that he was fine for travel. We had moved two miles at least when Dykota sat down and wheezed,

"I need a break."

"I'll go scout ahead." offered Will, running off before anyone could object. We all sat down on logs or stones or something of that sort. Josh was well enough to start a small fire (it was kinda cold). The Wraith hadn't been much help lately except as a guide.

"I think we've lost the Fire Walker for a while," I said calmly. Little did I know that I had just Jinxed us…

We had started moving again, hoping that either we would run into Will or that Will would run into us. We talked for a very long time, until, finally, we found Will. He was sitting under a tall aspen tree, his legs dangling off the large rock he was sitting on. We all joined him, finally able to catch our breath. Nothing interesting happened for the rest of the day or that night, which we spent under the large rock. When we woke up Will decided that it was a good idea to go a few miles back to see how much distance we had between us and the Fire Walker.

Will came back not too long after he had left with the worst news I had heard in a while…

"I saw him!" he screamed, running into camp.

"Saw who?" asked Brianan, standing up from her spot on the rock across from me. Wyatt just breathed for a second then said,

"The Fire Walker, he's at least sixteen miles from here, but we all know how fast he is…"

All of us stood up at the same time

"We have to go, now!" yelled Josh.

"No s#!%ing!" I screamed back.

"We are not far from the academy." The wraith whispered beside me, "tell the Will boy these directions and he can get help."

He then began whispering directions to me.

"Will!" I shouted to get his attention.

"Yeah?" he was there in a second

"OK, look, we aren't that far from Jinx. The wraith said to run dew west, that way," I said pointing towards the setting sun, "And when u see a big castle-like building, run up to it and say ' we need Leo' and when you see a tall boy with dark brown hair, show him where to go to get back here. If anyone asks, just explain what's happening. Ok?"

"Think I can do that," he said nervously but put a determined face on.

"Ok, we'll be following you in the same direction," I said, turning around and grabbing the only thing I still had with me. A large book bag.

"Grab anything you see that could be useful!" Maple was shouting. Will was already gone.

"Let's go let's go!" Josh said, standing on a rock that was above us. We all scrambled up the hill, leaving the shadow and exposing ourselves to the sun. Will was already off to find Jinx Academy.
