12 Upon the doorstep

"Ugh" Groaned an adventurer, "It took us a days ride to get to the nearest biggest city to contact the Adventurers Guild after going to that creepy derelict ruin. Waiting almost 3 months to get enough adventurers to clear the place, and another days ride to come back out here! Boooosss, did we seriously have to come out here again? Why couldn't we leave it be?!"

A gruffy, burly man clad in armor on a horse snorted, "Easy, we don't know what lesser race summoned those damned Draugr, they could be planning to conquer some of the nearest human towns and march on the Human Kingdoms. That cannot be allowed. We will crush who ever is behind this, and march on whatever race they are from to teach them and the other lesser races a lesson." The man said hotly with disdain, he hated any race aside from humans, they all seemed less civilized, and unclean to him, he would despise divine beings as well if it wasn't for the boons that could be received. What sickened him though was that the divine beings gave the boons to all races, not just humans. 'I will raze everything to the ground at these ruins, I don not care what important history they have. Then I will march on from there to what ever detestable race raised these monsters, and raze their civilization to the ground. Let the Divine of Justice damn all their souls in my name.'

"Sir!" Another adventurer rode up on his horse to the Senior Adventurer, "It is only half day and we are at the ruins, you can see them now. However, the scouts say that there is only one entrance in, and there are multiple Draugr on the battlements as if keeping watch. One of the scouts thought they were seen. However that can not be the case, because the Draugr did not come out to attack him, but the other Draugr went down from the battlements as well."

The Senior Adventurer looked upon the ruins, it looked like an old city that had been long forgotten. It looked as if the whole city was carved and replace where a mountain once stood. With multiple tiers that looked like plateaus. The Historians managed to discern that each of the four levels had a specific function for the city to be self sufficient, which only made it that much bigger.

If he remembered properly, the first level was the tallest wall, and was considered to be where trees were grown for lumber and a quarry was on the other side where the mountain was mined from the inside and the stone was pulled up and carved. The next layer was fields and crops which was what helped feed the people and supply shops with goods. The third tier was where the mercantile shops and businesses were. Finally there was the Lords Throne, where a beautiful garden was supposedly kept as well for the Lord's leisure. If it wasn't so decrepit and unable to be restored to its glory again, many would fight for it. Then, the Senior Adventurer had a thought, which was never in any texts. Where did the people live? The most daunting thing though was how you got in, there were three ramps, two that were parallel with the wall going to each side from the center that were steps, and on coming straight out that was wider than three wagons at the bottom and narrowed to the width of one person on each side and a wagon in the middle. At the top of this ramp was the only way in with that narrow gate that stopped at what seemed to be the mercantile level. It was perfectly defendable with little fuss, if the Draugr were posed for an attact that was where it would hurt the most. 'Thankfully, they are just dumb things like zombies.' Thought the Gruffy man.

At perfect midday, the massive group of adventures were at the bottom of the ramp. The Senior Adventurer who was leading the group took the lead with his horse. As the first hoof from the horse fell upon stone, a deep ringing could be heard.

It was the tolling of the bell, in the heart of Necropolis.
