4 The proposition

"W-what the hell?" Was all Kaylin could respond with as he walked out of the bathroom , shaking his head as he rubbed the back of his neck. Sighing as he grabbed Jest by the arm and led him to the kitchen, pulling out a spare chair and motioning to have as he grabbed one of his favorite drinks. Offering one to Jest and be declined, returning back to the table and sitting in the chair in front of the so-called divine being.

"You are taking this rather well, that or you are in denial." Jest said in smugness.

"Bite me. What are you, the divine being of smart-assery? By the way, how the hell am I supposed to believe you are a divine being anyway. There was no choir of your arrival or flash of light. Nor am I cowering in fear to avoid your divine wrath."

"Well, most that would undertake the test you with stood would have failed." Jest said matter-of-factly.

"Most? Doesn't sound so hard then Jest. You sure I am qualified?" Kaylin stated curtly.

"Well, you being the first to pass over the millennia I've been around took away me being able to say all have failed." Jest chuckled at the statement. "As for how you can be so frank with me without any backlash, I would have to say it is because of your resolve and determination. I mean, you told yourself though it was me to frick off. That was awesome!" Jest exclaimed.

Chuckling, "Thanks, but I need that resolve and determination to tell the people who are living the cushiony life to frick off while I tear everything they built down. They live at the top like divine beings, so it is like bringing one down. Or, well, that is how it feels to me. So, to the business at hand Jest. Why are you here?"

"I was just testing to see if you could make it in this trash of a world. Though it wont last much longer at this rate. So, I have a proposition for you. How would you like a second chance to change the world to a better place for all as your birthday present from me?" Asked Jest quizzically, with a hint of what could seem to be a devious or a somber tone.

"I bet it isn't that easy, there is a catch, especially with your tone. If you are going to test my resolve if it meant having to take the mantle of 'evil', I will. However, just because I have that mantle does not mean I wont have ethics nor morals. On the contrary, I would hope to hold my self to a higher standard and have those around me, help me stay that way as well." Kaylin openly stated as he finished his drink, making a face that it was empty while throwing it across the apartment into the trash can nonchalantly. As he did that, Kaylin noticed that Jest leaned his head forward and it looked like his eyes started to twinkle more in surprise and in admiration as this was said and done.

"That is part of it. The other is, you need to start fresh, in a world that can still be molded and saved. The Earth you live on is dying, humankind is kaput here. The other part of the deal is-" Jest steepled his fingers as his tone went more ominous, "You start on another world."
