Controlling the android through the drone, FIX walked out of the factory and proceeded towards the meeting spot as it was intended.
A famous market place frequented by the common people where the ruler of Samara had created a protected zone for common people who don't wish to partake in violence in other parts of russia.
But it didn't mean it was bereaved of crimes.
In reality, it still flourished, but like before, it was hidden from the eyes of common people. And whenever those commoners stumbled across this darkness, their lives never remained the same.
So, even though the city of Samara was considered safer in comparison to other city states, the reality can't be more different.
The safety mentioned by the tour guides was always relative to other parts of the Russian federation. Not the world.
It was why, even though FIX was aware that the danger might not be high, preparing ahead of any accidents was always better.
And just like that, after a few checkpoints that failed to notice the metal body hidden under the silicon fake skin, she reached the cafe where she was meant to meet Starhusky.
StarHusky: I would be on the 3rd table from the door. -.-
Recalling those words, she looked toward the silent man sitting on the table with his laptop out.
A laptop that seemed old and broken, barely functioning. Which really looked contrasting to the owner, who was in a prim and proper black suit with tie and a kind smile.
And through her years of experience on her job, she understood one thing.
'This can't be StarHusky.' The smile was fake, the emotions were fake and even the way he sat lacked any personality.
It felt more like looking at a statue than a human. A statue that was ready to kill from the looks of it.
Which was in stark contrast to the bubbly personality of StarHusky.
Say what you want about a furry, but through her long life, she was well aware that people in Furry Culture can't ever be so emotionless, so fake.
They are people true to their nature and what they like. Which for the person that sat on the table, seemed impossible to mimic.
So considering all of this. This might just be a trap.
'Luvi truly treats me like a landmine detector.'
She also understood what Luvi has been using her for. But she didn't point it out. The gift he gave her along with the methods he is releasing en masse was good enough payment.
This much was worth the effort and FIX also didn't like to owe anyone.
So in a body that looked like a middle aged war veteran, she walked to the table and sat next to what she presumed to be StarHusky.
"FIX?" And through his surprised question, she became aware that it doesn't matter if the person in front of her is Starhusky or not, at least this person was aware of her current name. Which made him someone aware of her as well as the group's existence.
"Yes, and you would be StarHusky?' FIx said in a gruff manly voice, which was a surprise for Lev, as he also didn't expect FIX to look like this.
Lev was someone only aware that FIX was a technomancer, but as for what kind or what her feats were, he was ignorant about it all.
Hell, he didn't know anyone, nor did any other member of the group knew anything, beside FIX and Luvi. And this was done because the group was in infancy and Luvi nor others trusted each other.
At least, Luvi didn't.
Hence, using the talents of FIX and her resources, he was learning about who to trust and who is worthy of his trust.
And from what Luvi understood, although a bit suspicious, FIX can be trusted for now. Considering FIX hasn't done anything against him with all the resources and powers FIX possesses.
Hence, the case with security over the site he intends to create to sell the practice methods was safe and he can trust FIX with it for now.
Though the same can't be said about the creator of the website who hasn't shown much enthusiasm towards learning that he can become an awakened being. Which was highly suspicious.
So even with all the talent and promise StarHusky showed, the lack of greed inside him caused Luvi to not trust him. Which was the completely opposite case of Aoto, who was not trusted by Luvi due to his apparent greed and desire to be acknowledged.
In a way, Luvi found StarHusky similar to himself and he was not talking about the furry part.
And Luvi knows, because he has checked out some NSFW furry artwork to see if they do anything to him. And to his relief, they don't do anything to him besides disgusting him.
Oh, it would seem I went on a different tangent. Let's get back on the main focus.
"I didn't expect you to be so old and so adept at Russian." Lev seemed surprised by the fluent Russian that FIX spoke. "Neither did I expect you to look like this… a Russian." The habits that Lev has cultivated through his work started to show, putting FIX on defense.
It almost seemed he was accusing her of not being FIX, but a puppet.
Which was right in some ways.
"Neither did I expect you to appear so… normal."
"Yes… I understand why you would think that." Lev could only put on another fake smile, knowing full well what FIX meant.
But he was not here for this, such simple talks. The important matter still needs to be discussed. "I would understand that you might be suspicious of my identity. But I am Starhusky… StarHusky Bubblywings. This is the name I usually used online." Lev comes clean, knowing full well that without one side backing down, the conversation won't continue.
"And I am FIX… Just FIX, the very man you talked to on the internet."
FIX said those words, when her eyes moved toward the old laptop, asking. "Is this the only thing you own?... no phone and such?"
"Yes… you got it right. That was why I brought it to the cafe."
"Then tell me StarHusky. What do you do for a living?"
"..."
"I kill people."
With those words, the aura of the whole cafe changed and FIX through her sensors detected high energy signatures suddenly becoming active in her vicinity.
"So a trap it is."
At her words, the customers as well as the employees took out their guns and aimed at FIX, looking for any suspicious movements.
And FIX knew that a single mistake might be the end of her life. Or the end of her precious android which didn't even live for more than a week.
It was why she took a look at StarHusky again. "What happened to StarHusky?"
"I might be many things, but I don't lie." Taking out a gun of his own and aiming at FIX's forehead, he said in an emotionalness voice. "I am sorry for this. But for now, please follow me."
******
Luvi was in his room when he received a sudden update from FIX.
It would seem that the man who claimed himself to be FIX was bringing FIX's android to his boss. Which proved multiple things.
For one, either the real StarHusky was dead or he betrayed them.
Second, the secret of the group was out. So hiding the identity of members really worked.
Third, whoever set this trap up, they have learned the existence of the awakening serum and might be eyeing for his formulae.
Fourth and last, these people are totally stupid and really think that the body they apprehended is a real one. And even if they don't, they are unaware that the body they are bringing to their boss is outfitted with a bomb.
DreamMachine: Confirm the true identity of StarHusky and if he is dead, we can't do much about it besides taking revenge by blowing them up.
To Luvi, typing this was nothing.
He was not doing the killing, nor did he feel bad for gangsters. In truth, he even looked forward to their death.
Which FIX didn't like that much. To her, Luvi just seemed like someone who lacks understanding of life. He treats it too lightly because he doesn't have to partake in it.
But she can't expect much from a child. So like she had done before, she intends to do this job her own way.
Because, even though Luvi might be smart, but he is still too young and lacks certain experience that would complete his journey to adulthood and till then, she intends to do her best to not leave anything for this child to regret, when he grows up and looks back on his past.
"If StarHusky is dead, I would need to find someone else to fill in his position I guess."
On the other hand, oblivious of FIX's worry over him, Luvi had started to look for new potential candidates to fill in StarHusky's position.
But he was disappointed to learn that none of his other minions were capable on that front. Meaning, for the present, he had to put all the work on FIX's shoulder.
'I should increase FIX's share in profits at this point.'
