1 prologue

I was either horribly bullied or pitied throughout highschool, bullied for highschool reasons pitied for my mothers passing. My father was always either over drinking or over working sometimes both. It was hard to say the least, in a world full of demons, werewolves, vampires, ghosts and ghouls, fairies, witches and warlocks, half-breed, and yes even humans some with either psychic or physical abilities others just human. A world where we all got along peacefully, schools of all kinds existed some designed for other races, some for humans but no matter who they catered to it was still just highschool.

The highschool I attended was a public school in a very small town, with a diverse student base from human to fairy. They say the friendships you make in highschool, could last a lifetime in other cases lifetime's. My group of friends varied the only human being myself no abilities no magic in my blood just human, they are an odd bunch to say the least I still loved them dearly. They protected me....and teased me mercilessly. All in all a great bunch to be around, luckily for me there was this one friend who stood by me come hell or high water. Ceres we was my best friends younger brothers friend, he kept the true bullies away the ones who teased me because I was one of a handful of humans going to our school.

Ceres...well I claimed him as my little.....I mean younger brother last time I called him little brother I saw stars as he smacked me upside the head. They say dont compare apples to oranges but the exchange rate in our school cafeteria was to tempting, in exchange for the extra apple I would grab Ceres would trade me his oranges. Once I was able to legally drive that was it, between working my butt off and the money I would get from my mothers passing well we spent a lot of time just driving around in that beat up Chevy. Ceres would show up randomly sometimes and take my keys, he hated they way I drove that poor truck.

Graduation came and with it an urgency I have never known. Ceres still stuck by my side, no matter what he was there. He and were close, close enough where by the time I graduated his mother and I were on a first name basis. Ceres did keep one thing from me though, his older brother Calix who was a year older than Ceres and a year younger than myself. Calix went to a different highschool, one that I never knew the name of. My first summer free of highschool we met, and let me tell you it was love at first sight.

A year passed by quickly, and there I sat with Ceres and his family watching as Calix received his diploma. That night he officially asked me to be his girlfriend, I said yes of course who wouldn't hes charismatic, handsome, and a lovable goofball. We were together two years now, and it happened.

Ceres' family never told me how it happened, they say it had something to do with Calix's father. The brothers never talked much about their father, so never pushed. We buried the love of my life, he was to young to be taken like this. I was stuck now in a constant loop of despair, his class ring hanging on a chain around my neck.
