1 First Time

I closed my eyes and trying to shut out the incessant wailing of the alarms. People clad in orange and florescent yellow vests shouted unintelligible things. Vulgarities flew thick like seagulls around a morsel of food. All around me screams and prayers sounded equally. I did none of these things. This was the end, there was no point in denying it. I knew that everyone must come to an end at some point. I was sure that this was mine. Now since I am here, writing to you, you must know that I did not meet my ghastly end on that fateful day. Thought I still remember hearing the self destruction countdown in the robotic female voice. There would be no mercy for anyone today.

8: I Reflected back on my life, all the joy and sadness that I have ever felt rushed through me like a bullet train.

1: I thought about my beautiful wife and kids. And felt a rush of emotion within me that I have never felt before, more powerful than anything I have ever seen. And as deep as an ocean.

0: Bright lights flashing red and orange each more vivid than the last. How long this second lasted I have only a small grasp. It felt as thought this second was an eternity of pure pain.
