1 One

   "Jasmine will you marry me?"

    There I was looking at the man who had hurt me over and over, It been four years, things had changed. What he thinking?, what am I thinking sitting here. Most of all why am I happy about this?. Let me tell you a quick story about me.

      Three years ago

    I fell in love like every high school girl would but before that I thought life was hard I was already engaged to peter he was a banker still living with his parents nothing seemed to go well with him and it frustrated me. My parents didn't know about my engagement I was dumb enough to tell him "Yes" I know. He was so busy with work that he barely would text me or call me neither did we see I was nineteen and I felt I needed romance not just marriage.

      One day in school I heard there was a transfer student he name was Tyler the day he had started school I was at the library. Every girl in my class had gossiped about how handsome and manly he was and I didn't care more. After I got to see him I bet he was really attractive.

      The Christmas holiday had come, there is a tradition in my house where we travel for vacations to celebrate the season, we had to sing Christmas carol from Christmas eve to 12am on Christmas morning.

     While on my vacation peter never texted me or asked if I had arrived safety it was frustrating. Six days before Christmas I got a notification on Facebook letting me know that day was Tyler's birthday I didn't know when I had accepted his friend request either. I grabbed my phone and sent him wishes but it didn't stop there.

     "Jassie come and make breakfast for your sister!" My dad yells I pick up my phone and leave.

     Five days before Christmas Tyler had asked me for my number, I was so excited but then I was engaged to peter remembering this didn't bring any remorse instead I was filled with joy first off Tyler was a guy every girl in school had wanted, getting him didn't sound bad to me.

     With all those thought my ringtone stared me. "Hello"

      "Mina" I can picture Julia smiling endlessly at the other side of the call.

     "Julia?" I say disappointed, this isn't the call I'm waiting for.

     "Oh Mina I've missed you when are you coming back?" she asks with excitement

     "Well I'm not sure, dad is having a good time also Mia is too"

     "Anyways you remember Tyler? the transfer.. Hearing her call his name goosebumps feel my body I wasn't expecting her to talk about him. "Jasmine are you there??" she asks

    "Uhm Julia I gat to go check up on Mia" I dish her.

      Days passed me and Tyler gat to know a little about each other.

           Three days before Christmas something suddenly happened have I just agreed to be this young man's girlfriend? While engaged to peter well he wasn't interested it just been two month and his already acting like I'm his wife he married ten years I will settle this with him.

        My father wasn't all rich but he was able to fend for me and my sister. He gave us the best he could and I admired him. I also found out that Tyler mother was a single mother and she had to cater for her two sons herself, just like my dad had to do when he was a single parent.

      After the holidays we got back from our vacation peter never called me so I decided to put an end to the so called relationship.

       We met at a café downtown We sat facing each other I couldn't even look him in the eyes so instead I drank my espresso when I felt uncomfortable.

     "Mina baby" peter said with anger in me I replied

      "Peter let's call this off" picked up my cup and sucked through the straws.

      "What do you mean Jasmine?"

     "I'm no longer interested Peter"

     "What? Jas are you in another relationship?" he asks me

      Guilt feel me up but it not my fault "You didn't call me" I said not knowing.

      "I wasn't feeling well, Why didn't you call me?"

       "I did you and didn't pick up been sick doesn't mean you won't call me did you get paralyzed?" I ask him feeling confident now.

      "I know I fucked up but I'm sorry let's fix this" he tries coming close to me.

       "No Pete"

     "You found someone else" he looks at me with a sad eyes eager to still know "I thought you promised me Jasmine?"

       "I guess I lied, I'm sorry peter" I pick up my bag and leave. Peter grabs my hand and draws me back.

     "That can't be the only reason!" He yells.

      "Yes it not! I feel nothing about this relationship! nothing at all no affection, no love, no care and most of all no you!!" I say.

      "We can... no I mean I can..

      "No peter it over you can't neither can I"  I say gently letting go of my hands from his and walk out. I feel sorry towards him but the truth is I never loved him I felt pressured to say yes buh now I don't feel tied to a twenty four old anymore

       After school had resumed the fear of facing my new boyfriend Tyler didn't allow me to return to school. The second day I had to go and that day I was scared to bump into him so I kept my distance I couldn't stand his face looking at mine as his girlfriend.

     Unfortunately, I didn't succeed on my way back home

      "Jasmine?" he calls my name once again his voice sends chills to my blood and my whole body is filled with excitement why?..
