1 Chapter 1 Introducing The Tiny College House Main Resident...

"Hey, Joey, get down here!" Elizabeth yelled. I jumped off my bed, book in hand, and walked through the living room where Omi and Alaina watched TV get to the kitchen. I looked up, but El wasn't there. Then I see the basement door and think, of course, she's down there.

I walked down the staircase. "Hey, El, whatcha need?" I said, hanging off the railing.

"Could you help me with the laundry? I'm going to be late for my shift," she asked.

"Sure thing." I jumped off the staircase, and my momentum carried me to her feet.

I helped her switch the laundry and carry the clean stuff upstairs.

"Have a good shift!" I yelled as she ran out the door and down the street.

I walked to the living room and curled up on a chair next to Omi.

"Hey, are y'all going to the party later?" I asked them.

"No, I have to study for a test," Omi said.

"And I have a shift later at Sugarcube," Alaina added.

"This is why I went to college early. I've already got a degree and internship, plus a paying job." I told them for the thousandth time.

"We know you tell us all the time!" Alaina dragged out.

We sat there for a few minutes and then they got up and started cleaning.

"Y'all are so responsible." I teased.

"You wanna talk about responsible? Look at El. She insists on doing everything that needs to be done and doesn't need to be done." Omi commented.

"Hey Alaina, I just thought of this, but when does your shift at SugarCube Coffeehouse start?" Omi asked while they furiously cleaned the living room.

"5:30. Why?"

"I need a ride there to meet my study group."

"Ok. I'll take ya."

We sat there for a while since none of us had anything to do, having all our homework done and no shifts to work.

"Oh shoot, we've gotta go!" Omi exclaimed, looking at her watch.

They jumped out of their chairs and grabbed their bags.

"Bye, Joey! See ya later!" Alaina said as she grabbed her keys and ran out the door.

I rolled my eyes and walked up to my room.

*riiing*

I checked my phone, and my Instagram had sent me a notification. There were posts from a college party I had been invited to but decided to skip.

I sat on my bed, staring at the lights and photos, and thought, do I really wanna finish college without attending a party?

I texted Colleen, a friend of mine, and asked her if I should go. She said totally and that she expects me there. I rolled out of my bed and walked to the bathroom.

I stepped out of the bathroom, makeup, and dress on, all I needed was my shoes. Ugh, shoes. Omi is the shoekeeper, and she is TERRIBLE at her job.

After spending seventeen hours looking for shoes, I texted Colleen to get a ride to her friend's party. Colleen was so happy that I was going.

After we arrived, the party seemed to amp up. There were games and punch and drinks.

It was a rush. I played all of the games and drank all of the non-alcoholic drinks and a few alcohol shots. It went by so fast.

After several hours, most everyone was hungover and out of the mood. I was on the couch with my friend, who was sleeping, when I suddenly felt dizzy. I looked at the drink in my hand, which had no alcohol in it, and fell over.
