5 Chapter 5: Beating Up People, Places, and Things
[Ed] 'York! Activate mirror force!'
[York] Activating Trap Card "Mirror Force". Mirror force active for 60 seconds.
As Bernard's attack approaches my face, a shimmering barrier surrounds me and blocks his attack...which then rebounds and the hilt smashes right into his nose.
[Ed] "That's gotta hurt"
The spectators gasp as they realize Ed wasn't the one to take the first hit.
[Bernard] "OK! Don't get too proud of yourself kid. A spell like that probably has a time limit. All I have to do is wait it out and you're toast."
Bernard looks slightly pissed now. He gets into stance and waits.
I start running at him with my right arm to the side to bluff preparing a spell.
[Ed] "There's one problem with your plan Bernard."
Then, I body slam him with as much momentum as I can muster.
Bernard got sent flying straight into a wall. Unfortunately, that wall was a part of the guild hall, and now there was a hole in it.
[Ed] "Ummm, sorry. I don't have any money to fix that."
The people watching stare at me dumbstruck. After a few seconds of silence, everyone starts laughing.
[???] "Haha! This new kid is something!"
[???] "Maybe we should've placed bets on this!"
[???] "Yeah, but would you really have bet on Edward?"
[Julie] "Good job Ed! I wasn't expecting you to beat him so easily. With that, your guild registration is now complete! Good luck on your first mission kid!"
[Ed] "Thank you. I'll see you later then."
[Ed]'I guess I should go kill some demonic chickens now. York, how long does it take to regenerate one energy point, and how long does a summon last?'
[York] According to my calculations, it takes approximately one hour to recover one energy point. Each summon will last for half an hour, and can be re-summoned with with more points. Also, you should avoid using spells and traps for a while since it leaves you vulnerable for at least an hour.
[Ed] 'You've got a point York. It'll take me about an hour for me to get to the site, so I can summon Kuriboh when I get there.'
I go up to the receptionists on the second floor and sign up for the Demonic chicken killing mission.
As an E ranking mission, it's repeatable and I only need to kill 10 chickens to complete it. All I need to do is bring back their gallbladders, which are used in medicine, and I get paid 10 medium copper coins.
As I stroll towards the fields where the chickens roam, I ask York for more information about the world.
[Ed] 'York, explain the currency system here'

[York] According to the data collected from the shops, 2 Medium copper coins can get you a meal, while 6 medium copper coins allows you to stay at a small inn.
After understanding the currency used here, I arrived at the Chicken fields, and was greeted by thousands of chickens.
[Ed] 'There are so many chickens here. I guess this job will be easier than I thought.'
[York] Don't speak so soon Ed.
[Ed] 'How hard could killing a chicken be?'
When I started sneaking up on a Demonic chicken, I got my answer. It loudly crowed and alerted every chicken in the field. They quickly stampeded as far away from me as possible, leaving me in the dust.
[Ed] 'YORK! *pant pant* WHY IS KILLING THEM SO DIFFICULT?!'

[York] Summoning.
A Large brown whirlpool appeared out of thin air. A red and blue bird with black wings majestically flew out of it with a barrel roll.

And that majestic bird flew off to begin a slaughter.
