Ancient Rune Magic

The next day, Lilia woke up with a body covered by a thick blanket. She looks like a cocoon if it wasn't for her human face.

Although here was safe and sound, she didn't even lack foods, the thing that made her uncomfortable is the cold air that even with a thick blanket couldn't warm her fragile body.

"Maybe I should have started a fire last night, but it'd attracted some monsters nearby"

Not until fifteen minutes later that Lilia finally get out of the blanket.

She starts to make simple water magic to wash her face and mouth before breakfast. Even though she is an F-rank mage, making simple magic like create small volume water is considered an easy task.

"Hehe, I don't even need to fetch a water"

Upon experimenting with magic last night, she concluded; with her current capabilities, she could only afford to create simple magic like a small Fireball, Water Arrow, etc.

Although these were weak magic, it enough for her to protect herself from weak monsters as long as she didn't meet strong monsters such as Luminous Lion, she should be fine.

Lilia took out the bread from her cosmos ring and ate it. It feels dry and tasteless but what can she expect? she is in the forest after all, not in the restaurant.

The atmosphere was so quiet except for the sound of water droplets from stalactites.

The rhythmic of the sound of drops as if racing with the sound of Lilia's chew.

Initially she didn't bother with this kind of atmosphere, but eventually, she finds it a bit strange. Why there are absolutely no creatures in this cave, even insects seem to be disinclined to enter this cave.

Is there anything in this cave that makes creatures reluctant to enter? This is a safe place but what makes it safe?

"Hum, This is worth investigating" She nodded as she enters investigator mode.

Lilia is fearless but that doesn't mean she has to be careless. Although she was curious to find out the truth, however, if she fell the slightest danger, she will not hesitate to forget about this matter even if there's treasure here.

After all, life is more valuable than treasure.

She entered the depths of the cave and found this cave was originally wide and deep. Ahead was the sound of water dripping into the water.

Lilia creates a small Fireball to light the way, even so, there's no way she can tell how deep it was.

Not until almost 1km away from her original spot, she discovers a padlocked iron grate, it looked old and rusty. She also saw the restriction rune on it.

Lilia has a bit of accomplishment at Rune Magic, so, at first glance, she can recognize it. She want to see it closer but when she step up she heard a crispy voice from beneath her feet.

She looked down and paused a second before she reacts abruptly, "Bone!"

She tries to calm down a bit but once again she reacts even more fierce than before, "Corpse!"

The bone she stepped on turned out to be the hand part of a corpse that was leaning against the outside of the grate.

It seemed that the corpse had been there for very a long time that parts of it had separated from the initial place. The robe that it used also worn out and only left one piece.

From the look of it, this grate is a prison and this corpse is originally a guard of this prison.

"Since the prison guard already died, doesn't that mean the prisoner also died of old age?"

Unfortunately, inside of the prison was too dark and her vision alone can't penetrate the darkness in it. However, she didn't sense any danger from it, she was confident in her six sense.

Since she feels nothing, it seems like her guess was right after all even the prison guard also already became a pile of bones.

Lilia took a look closer over the bars of the prison.

"Look, even the Rune Magic become saggy like this"

Although she doesn't know what kind of Rune Magic is this, the thing she knew this Rune Magic is very powerful. The rune's letters used are complicated, there are even some parts of letters that Lilia doesn't recognize.

"This is an Ancient Rune!"

According to the previous host's memory, in this mainland, there are some people use rune as their main magic.

In her guild also there's a person who uses rune as his main magic, he is an A-Rank mage.

He could depend on his Rune Magic to climbed up became A-rank mage from F-rank mage. He is very powerful, very few people could defeat him in a match because the moment he entered the battlefield he could restrict his opponent according to his condition which made his opponent quite helpless.

Lilia also has an understanding of Tune Magic, thanks to her quests which mostly related to Rune Magic.

This Ancient Rune can help her to improves her rune knowledge. The good thing is she knows the basic rune, so, it might be easier to learn this Ancient Rune.

However, looks like she underestimated an Ancient Rune very much, not only it hard to comprehend but also mostly letters are broken and hardly recognized.

Even so, that doesn't make her give up just like that if it easy to learn it's wasn't being Ancient Rune one.

Time passed by very quickly, Lilia attempt to rewrite the rune several times, the result not entirely futile as she made some progress on it.

Pity, there are some letters are broken otherwise she will memorize it completely.

BOOM

The restriction rune finally broke as Lilia manages to rewrite it off.

"Fufu..." The smug expression can be seen all over her face, obviously, she was quite proud of her comprehensiveness. She was a top student, after all, memorizing and solving are her specialty.

Suddenly she jolts as she remembers something important, "Crap, I almost forget about the quest!"

Lilia stood up abruptly and brush the dust off of her robe briefly before she ran off with the speed of lightning.

The peak of noon almost arrives, she has no time to check out the treasure inside the prison after she writes off the restriction rune.

She can check it after she completes the quest as she can't waste any longer over something uncertain.

However, little did she know, the prison unexpectedly opens itself slowly and who knows what comes out of it.
