17 Car accident

After the last class, Elena stayed back to spend some time in the library.

Elena entered the quiet library, with a gloomy face, probably remembering the girl who is bullied in the canteen and not to forget Christine. She walked to the last row avoiding others stare.

She sat down in a chair at a corner staring absently out of the window.

Someone walked to Elena's table and took a chair opposite to her. Elena was in her own world and she didn't notice the person sitting in front of her.

"Hel...Hello" the girl greeted her nervously with a slight smile.

Elena startled hearing the girls voice and turned towards her. Her shocked expression changed into a

wide smile, looking at the girl in front of her.

"Hey, are you alright?" Elena asked the girl greeting warmly.

The girl tensed up a bit when she heard Elena but soon she recovered and smiled back at her.

"I am alright. Thank you for earlier. That means a lot to me."

Elena felt it was a sensitive topic to talk, so she diverted the topic.

"By the way, I am Elena and you can always come to me if you need anything," Elena said extending her hand with an angelic smile.

Something painful flashed before the girl's eyes looking at Elena's sweetness but she ignored and replied to Elena.

"I am Daisy," she said accepting the handshake with a nervous smile.

"Okay Daisy, nice meeting you. I need to leave now. See you around and take care" Elena said standing from her seat ready to leave.

Daisy looked nervous as if struggling to ask something.

"Is there something you want to ask ?" Elena asked sensing the girl's uneasiness.

The girls face lit up when she heard Elena!

"Can you please drop me by the Star Cafe? My dad will pick up me from the Cafe," Daisy asked looking nervous.

Elena smiled at Daisy, "No problem, the cafe is on my way home."

The duo walked to the parking lot and Elena hopped into the driver seat. Soon the car took off to the Star Cafe.

Elena didn't want to disturb Daisy, so she stayed quiet and enjoyed the music playing on the F.M.

Their peaceful journey came to a halt, at the bridge and the place was filled with quite a commotion. Now they are stuck in a traffic!

Elena glanced outside the window and turned towards Daisy.

"I guess we need to wait for few minutes, till the traffic clears. You should probably inform your dad that you would be late." Elena suggested massaging her temples.

Daisy looked tensed up, and she glanced outside. After a few moments, she made a call.

Elena rested her head on the steering, so didn't notice Daisy's uneasiness. Daisy's hands were trembling and she dropped her mobile in the process.

THUD!!

Elena lifted her head and looked at the girl.

"I am sorry! My dad isn't lifting my calls," Daisy said with a weak smile composing herself.

"He might have stuck in some work and he will probably contact you when he reaches the cafe," Elena assured the girl with a warm smile.

Just then Elena's eyes caught Daisy's wallpaper of her mobile!

"He is my dad," Daisy said following Elena's stare with a nervous smile.

It was the picture of Daisy and her dad having dinner.

"You both are looking great," Elena complimented them with a bright smile.

Its about 10 mins and the traffic didn't clear yet!

Elena glanced out and spoke to the person who has parked his vehicle beside her car.

"Do you know why we are still stuck in traffic ?"

The Guy looked surprised and cleared his throat blushing hard.

Oh, man!

"I heard someone met with an accident and his condition is critical. They are waiting for the ambulance," the guy said stroking his neck nervously glancing at Elena.

Soon after hearing the guy, Elena turned towards Daisy.

"I am going to check on the person and I will be back soon," Elena said anxiously opening her door.

"Wait! let me accompany you!" Daisy said hurriedly looking at Elena.

Elena nodded and hurried to the accident victim, with Daisy tagging along. Pushing past the crowd, they reached the front row.

There was quite a commotion!

"what is the condition of the person?" Elena asked one of the persons who is standing by the victim's car.

"He is in the critical condition and I hope it would be good if we could get to inform the person's family," the man said with pensive slowness and shrugged.

It's a car accident and the person is still in the car!

Elena walked to the car and her steps halted at door. When she looked at the person, the color drained from her face and she turned pale. Her legs trembled unable to hold it anymore.

"Thi...This...can't be true!" She mumbled still staring at the person in trance.
