Amber Stanford had always been afraid of the dark. As a child growing up in the countryside, she had heard all sorts of stories about the creatures that lurked in the shadows, waiting to pounce on unsuspecting victims. But now, as she moved to the big city of LA, her fear of the dark - or nyctophobia, as it was known - had become almost unbearable.
On her first day of school, Amber felt completely out of place. She was a country girl at heart, used to wide open spaces and the quiet of the countryside. But now she was surrounded by the noise and chaos of the city, with its towering skyscrapers and endless traffic.
To make matters worse, she quickly became the target of the school bully - a troublemaker named Noah Griffin. Noah was the kind of guy who seemed to take pleasure in making other people miserable, and Amber was an easy target. She was a nerd at school, with no sense of fashion or style, and she was also the poorest girl in her class.
Noah made sure to remind her of all these things every chance he got, teasing her relentlessly and making her feel even more isolated than she already was. But despite his unpleasant treatment, Amber refused to let him get the best of her. She had a heart of gold, and she was determined to rise above it all.
As the weeks went by, Amber found herself growing more and more frustrated with Noah's constant bullying. But then something strange started to happen.
