8 Chapter 7: What's the old man's name?

It was none other than the old man himself.

My eyes set upon the old man as I stared at him to figure why he was here. And I don’t care about him as long as he doesn’t bring up the conversation because talking to a person who you know is a murderer needs a lot of courage. Considering me , I am not good at lying or controlling my emotions.

The old man went past me approaching the manager’s office when I stopped him telling the current situation the manger was in. The old man smirked and started laughing so loud earning a few judgemental stares from the customers. As I assisted the customers, the old man whose name I am still not aware of waited patiently wanting me to finish up. I tried to elongate the conversation with the customers but my efforts remained futile as I got cut off by their suspicious stare.

The old man started to approach me on seeing the last customer go. I left for the door. But before I could turn the knob , the manager showed questioning me.

“Where are you going? You still have to close few things. Clean the tables , align the chairs , show me the weekly report. I will take care of the rest.”

There is nothing left aside from that so what is the "rest". Seemingly, We had tested the old man’s patience because he interrupted,” Well, Mr Fraser if she is free I need to talk to her.”

The manger’s name is Mr Fraser? I don’t know anyone’s name neither that old man’s name. I'm really oblivious and this going to get me to no good.

The manager hearing his name from the old man looked so scared as If had seen death. Does everyone know he is a murderer?

Apparently I had spaced out because now I was being dragged towards the corner table and when i turned around my eyes caught Mr Fraser making strawberry milkshake. Is this the extent of his fear?

The old man glared at me probably another at the fact I was spacing out. The old man seethed through his crooked teeth , “It seems like you are in your world today. Not the best time to have this conversation but I don’t have much time left.”

“Mr old man. It’s not at all convincing. I mean you don’t have much time and unlike you I’m free.” I replied with a smug face ,sure of my long life. He wouldn’t kill when he needs my help. And I really don’t have close friends do I?

The old man didn’t like my straightforward answer and retorted back, “ I have a document that I think you will love to see and change your answer considering your curiousity level.”

Handing over the document to me, he smirked confident I would agree. And he was over confident to be so sure. In the document I saw a photo of my mother and father tied up. They both looked really young. My mom had this beautiful natural face with her porcelain skin but what ruined it were the tears gushing down her cheek. Her eyes were swollen and beneath them were dark circles. Her hair were dishevelled as she held them tightly. Blood dripped from her face and a deep scar accentuated the whole scenario. Her lips bled but the thing that broke my heart was that her eyes were welded up with tears and they rained like a never ending storm. My father on the other side had a weird aura being reflected of him as if he wanted it. He sat there comfortably even though he was tied. An evil glint shone in his eyes.

I gave the old man a confused look.

“Your parents are not what they had seemed are they? Don't you want an answer?” He calmly stated.

“i still have to turn down your offer. Neither am I capable of doing such a thing and neither do I want to be held the title of being a murderer.” I said as getting ready to leave.

“Don’t you want to know what happened to your parents?” he asked

“I’ll find it out myself.” I retorted taking the file with me.

The old man tried to stop me but I rushed out closing the door on his face.

..........

Reaching home, I saw Fei reading the journal. She seemed intrigued and asked me to read this specific verse;

Aaron is really good at investigating but I cant let him unveil my true identity. I think it’s time to bring the old man Abner into this mess.

..

I stared at Fei who probably had the same suspicion.

Is this the old man’s name or are they both different people. There can always be a possibility.

I just have an urge to find the truth about my parents and lift the blanket of lies to unveil the true identity of this case. But I don't want to be tangled and waste my time any more.

Death can approach anytime.

Little did I know these both would be interconnected and take me on a journey with far more twist and turns than I had expected.
