1 Awakening

"Hey you! You're finally awake!" said a deep and concerned voice.

Hearing these words I snapped my eyes open startled and quickly noticing I am on the back of a cart with two other people, not including the fact that it was being driven by a guard in strangely a full white armor consisting of white platelegs, solid leather boots, worn leather gloves, a sheathed sword on his hip, and a white chainbody. His shield on his back sporting a blue background with a blue sun, the guard looked back briefly before nodding in my direction. We were on a gravel road surrounded by evergreen trees. As I was looking around confused the gentleman across from me drew my attention again after seeing my expression.

"You know you gave us quite the startle when all of a sudden we noticed a body lying on the side of a strange altar with no traveling gear, traveling bag, no armaments, nor any provisions! In fact its likely that if we didn't pick you up that you have been eaten by wolves or even worse, and likely starved or died due the cold!" spoke the burly black haired bearded man.

Now both lost in conversation and confused on who I was speaking to, what is going on, and where I am; in fact WHO AM I!?? My mind starting to panic before feeling an abrupt soothing feeling wash over my mind, calming my nerves and settling my rising worry of where EXACTLY I am.

*Think, I need to think, what can I remember?* as I asked myself mentally for what was left in my brain.

While I couldn't remember things like my name, or what City I lived in, I was able to remember my experiences and my love for gaming and reading books. I also realized how lonely of a life I had lived, albeit short as I recall I was only 23, but still: I felt out of place for not being able to remember much more that things I had read, anime/movies I had watched, or games I had played.

Even then however: I knew I didn't have perfect memory as I couldn't recall information of all the things I have ever read. (unlike OTHER fanfiction protagonists would be able to do)

I opened my mouth to respond before being promptly cut off before I could voice a sound.

"Man was I surprised when I checked you, you were freezing! I thought you were a corpse till I heard you groan from when we went to move you onto the cart!" said the stranger.

Blinking my eyes a few times, I looked down to realize that I was both wrapped in several blankets: as well as bound hand and foot with rope.

As I started panicking the stranger spoke once more. "Ah, no need to get worried, we are not highwaymen nor bandits, I am Beren Varze, I am a blacksmith and forger of the great city of Falador. You are bound as my guards were adamant in making sure you were not a threat and that you were safe to risk interacting with first."

When I heard the word Falador, I froze shocked before muttering to myself "Did i really get sent here? I... I am in Gielnor?!"

Now focusing on me, the gentlemen to his right who was dressed the same as the guard driving the cart, narrowed his eyes before going back to scanning the road behind us, likely watching for an ambush.

The man who had introduced himself as Beren looked at me strangely before asking "So tell me my friend! Who art you, what were you doing near Ice mountain, and where do you hail from?"

Shaking my head I looked up at the gentleman in front of me. My mind spinning, yet hurrying to think of a new name as I couldn't remember my old one

"Hello, um Beren? Um I am Aesorian, I cant seem to remember where I am from, though I have the suspicion that it is very far from wherever we are currently... you said Ice mountain correct? where are we headed? I uh can't really recall much more than that... Oh!! except that I was a student in college! and please call me Aesor!"

Looking at me strangely, Beren spoke "Aesorian? What a Strange name... hmmm... and memory loss? thats a difficult problem to have.. very few people can treat that kind of problem, all of them being wizards of all things!" saying such he temporarily had a scowl on his face, seemingly having a grudge against wizards.

"Well anyways, it is quite interesting to know that you were a student in college! Tis quite strange, as you are not dressed as a noble. And while i say this in jest I think i understand quite well the need to be well read, especially as ye seem quite thin and there is nary a blemish on your skin!" saying his piece, Beren chuckles. "but it seems as you do not recall your full memory that has come to bite your behind!".

Beiefly clenching my jaw, I nod my head before asking where we are headed.

Amidst his laughter, Beren calmed before informing me that we were two days out from Falador, yet apparently I had been riding with them for three days already.

Blinking my eyes shocked, Beren handed me what appeared to be a roasted turkey leg and placed a large flagon of what appeared to be ale next to me.

"Here, make sure to eat up, but dont rush it, we dont have the provisions to risk you throwing up food, even if we are close to the city."

Realizing the depth of my growing hunger, I slowly but methodically began consuming the food he had given me, roatating between the meat and ale. After finishing the meat, he gave me some sharp yellow cheddar cheese and what appeared to be half a loaf of bread to finish with the flagon being refilled from a tiny keg I hadn't noticed.

Taking greater scrutiny to my surroundings I realized that the cart was packed with either crates filled with what I assumed to be ore, several tiny kegs of what I was guessing to be alcohol, as well as several bundles of hay and a bag or two of graines for the horse, there was single crate with the provisions he had earlier mentioned along with a bundle of camping supplies.

"Well either way, you are probably exhausted, take a rest, I will wake you and answer your questions after we reach out camp site for tonight" Beren advised me. Taking his advice (as I was tired) I closed my eyes, bundling myself further against the chilly wind.
