1 PROLOGUE

An ancient deity responsible for the quantities of good and bad fortune in peoples lives. Once every week, he chooses individuals who have easygoing and privileged lives, and transports them to a world where they are quite the opposite. The aim or proof of this is not clear, but I, as a scientist, am duty-bound to record all information referring to this phenomenon. All over the world, every week, an individual, usually well to do and surrounded by luxury, mysteriously disappears. Those who return bring with them strange stories, tales of abject poverty and inferiority to other races, who seem to possess magic powers. I am more than ready to chalk the recounts up to mental breakdowns and hallucinations, but something compels me to stall on my diagnosis. So, in the hope that they will help you decode the enigma, and hopefully not to awe you into agreement with these absurd stories, I present to you my files; codename: Isekai-Unfortunate.
