1 Encounter with Destiny

'Is this how it's going to end for me?' I thought to myself while running with all of my strength.

I could only keep running. I was already exhausted and didn't think I had any more strength to keep my shield up. The rest of the soldiers that were with me were already dead.

My stamina was already gone, but the monster's stamina was endless.

The monster that was chasing after me was an earth golem. The size of its body was as big as a mountain. It has the shape of a big ugly humanoid. And it was chasing after me relentlessly.

If it catches me, I'll die without a doubt.

The earth golem's arm suddenly went up and down, the fist went straight at me. I reflexively put up a small shield.

"Uoo!"

The impact threw me away and flew away. It hurts a lot as I was thrown into the wall and it seems like I am going to die.

But, I can't afford to die here. I have to survive.

I used my willpower and got up while enduring the pain.

But, it's not good. My vision was blurry, and it was already difficult for me to maintain my consciousness. 

All I could remember was us being abandoned by the hero party... but I can't blame them they are our number one priority. If the hero party dies here, the world is doomed.

And so, we continued with the mission to retrieve the weapon. When we think it's finally over, a trap is activated which causes the earth golem to be summoned and now I'm the only survivor.

"It's over..."

The earth golem stood in front of me and its fist went down towards me.

I closed my eyes and prepared for my death. 

'I just hope my death won't be in vain.'

But as I was expecting to be smashed, instead a loud sound was heard and the ground shook. I open my eyes and realize that the whole dungeon ground is beginning to crack.

It seems like all of the punches that the earth golem missed as it hit the grounds caused the floor to break. The golem, unable to stop the punch fell to the hole along with the floor.

'Am I saved?' 

The dungeon began to crumble, and a crack was formed under my feet.

I'm being swallowed by the crack. 

'Damn, it's over.' 

And I fall into the darkness.

"Ugh... I'm alive?"

When I opened my eyes, there was nothing but darkness. I don't know how long I was unconscious.

But, somehow, I'm still alive. I don't know how far did I fall but I did survive somehow. I don't have any strength to move, but I need to look at my current condition.

"Ugh!"

I used my hand and crawled on the ground. I can't move my body that well, especially my leg so it's pretty hard for me to move around. 

"Ah!"

Suddenly, I stepped on something that caused a sound to come out. It was dark and so, I couldn't see what is it that clearly.

I felt fear and took a step back. Because I am afraid that somehow the golem survived the fall and was still here.

I tried to calm myself down.

'What was that? I hope it wasn't anything dangerous. Maybe if I take a closer look...'

I took a deep breath and slowly approached the place where I stepped.

"What's this?"

I found a knight helmet, which was glowing faintly which is weird as a helmet shouldn't be doing that. However, I also noticed that the knight helmet was damaged pretty badly.

I tried to take a look at the helmet. As I touched it, the helmet was glowing even brighter and something unbelievable happened.

I was quite shocked as to what was happening.

"What... the... hell..."

My instinct tells me that it's a dangerous thing to do, but my curiosity won't let me back down.

"Let's just see."

I put the helmet on. All of a sudden…

*Ding*

<You have met the criteria.>

"Huh?"

I was quite shocked because of what happened. A blue window appeared right in front of me, which is weird.

'A window in front of me? Am I hallucinating?'

*Ding*

<Registering... >

"What is this?"

*Ding*

<Complete! >

"What?"

"Huh, I'm not even sure what's happening..."

I have no idea what sort of stuff I am hearing right now. But it seems like the voice is coming from the helmet itself. Is this one of the relics that was used by the heroes? 

But I never heard this helm being mentioned at all, like all of the things that the past heroes used were mostly weapons, armor, or magic items that can increase the user's mana and physical capability.

*Ding*

<There's no need to worry, as it's harmless, you may trust me on this one.>

"Wait are you talking to me? Are you the voice from the previous message?"

<Yes, it is indeed me.>

"Who are you?"

"Why?"

*Ding*

<Because I also do not know. What know is that was born alongside the helmet. The helmet made and designed to find someone worthy enough use it. And now you have qualifications thus II been activated.>

A sentient helmet?

"Then... can I take off this helmet now? How did I get the qualifications in the first place? And can you stop making that 'Ding' sound whenever you speak? It's annoying."

*Ding*

<Affirmative. As to how you got the qualifications is still unknown. But, if I have guess it might be because are first person wear this helmet that's all.>

"What about the 'ding' sound?"

*Ding*

<The 'ding' sound was necessary. If you have a problem with the sound, then maybe I could change it for you?>

"Change the sound? Can you do that?"

*Ding*

<Affirmative. The sounds that the system produces are just random noise is selected. There more than a billion types of sound, and it was randomized every time.>

"So, it was a random selection huh? Then, can you change the 'ding' sound every time it talks? And instead produce a random sound. Just so it doesn't sound too annoying."

*Ding*

It's silent for a moment.

'Did it work?'

*Ding*

<I've selected a new random sound. And I've changed it whenever I wanted to speak. How does sound now?>

"A new random sound? Let's hear it."

*Beep*

"You sound more annoying... well let's just forget about that but there's something I wanted to ask."
