The New World

The next time I opened my eyes I was on solid ground. It felt short, all it took was a blink and I finished falling. Contemplating my travel will take me nowhere. I gave up thinking about it. After all, I knew that when I awoke I was on the edge of a cherry blossom forest, lying on the ground in all its grassy goodness. It felt real, soft and even though I was surrounded by blocks, it felt refreshing as if it was a real forest. I chuckled, it is a real forest after all, it was almost funny. I really didn't expect something like this to happen to me.

"Well it happened, I can't just sit here thinking about this crazy situation."

I got up from the ground, I was tall it was weird though as I only had blocks around to compare to. About two blocks tall, maybe a bit bigger… I didn't think much of it.

(A/N: Introducing actual measurements just fcks everything up… since I would imagine a block to be about 30x30x30 cm but in the end I can't make him 60 cm tall lol… so just use your Minecraft imagination since I will be measuring everything in blocks :D)

As I got out of my inner thoughts, I started paying attention to my surroundings. In front of me, a beautiful site graced my eyes. It was a cherry blossom forest. The grass was a beautiful green and behind me, I could hear the running of water. The river looked like a typical Minecraft river, but I could hear it flowing. I ran up to the river and scooped a bit of water from it. It also felt real and since I felt a quite thirsty, I plunged my face inside to drink.

Suddenly out of nowhere, I got a popup saying that my hydration level is back to 100% from 50% and I saw those 10 bubbles forming at the bottom right of my vision. I felt surprised but it was understandable, it is a game world after all. I got out of the water but not before, I noticed some cod slowly swimming in the water.

"This will prove useful."

I muttered "Status" and got a screen that showed my hunger bar together with my saturation level displayed in the typical Minecraft fashion. I tried shifting my eyes around but it remained floating at that one spot. My health and hydration level also showed up as hearts and a bar with a percentage, respectively. I noticed a second tab but I forgot about it as I panicked a bit. I could not see my inventory or anything like that.

"Hopefully" I thought, "maybe that is exactly it."

I quickly said "inventory" in my mind and got the Minecraft inventory coupled with a few more tabs on the top.

"Hah, I knew it."

I looked around at the first tab with a bit of glee. It looked like the original Minecraft inventory. I thought of shifting to the next one and got the baubles equip slots together with a small text where my crafting slots used to be.

It said:

1. Inventory – Opens inventory

2. Status – Shows immediate most important life statistics

3. JEI – Opens Just Enough Items screen together with a dedicated list of built in Mod manuals

4. WEB – Opens Google, where you can find only Minecraft related tutorials and information

5. Map - Opens Map

6. Settings "Key word" – Opens the settings for the "Key Word"

Here are some important key words you might want to know, your lovely goddess ;)

(A/N: I was thinking about JEI or NEI but it does not matter anyway since he will be getting only the crafting recipes and some ore spawn info… I might add something else as I flesh things out… we will see. In addition, the web is there cause our MC ain't a guru and neither am I lol.

also I'm sorry if the list doesn't show that well to you, please tell me that and i will change it so it looks better)

"Well thanks my lovely goddess."

I thought as I was surprised to have JEI. I didn't think about it at first, but honestly this will be of huge help… and so will the WEB… that was basically my Minecraft data base.

I tried some key words and looked over some of the screens… it was pretty much what you will find on your computer but just transformed into an ethereal light blue screen that floated in front of me. While I was browsing the settings I concluded that most of the stuff I could do is related to modifying the looks of the windows and where everything went. There weren't any "game" breaking settings.

Well I shouldn't waste my day… thankfully it looks like one day isn't minutes long hah, but that means that nights are also longer… I shivered at the thought of all the monsters that can kill me in 10 seconds.

I looked up across the river just to see a thick Dark Wood forest. Those always creped me out, at least they are a good source of wood when I get myself a lumber axe. Since this world existed long before I appeared, there are probably already mobs in the forest since no light passes through.

"I will be avoiding it like the plague." I concluded.

"Better get some wood so I can dig a hole in the ground as a shelter."

The sakura forest was much better, since the trees were quite sparse. Moreover, it just had this calming feeling around it. It felt safe.

I walked up to one of the sakura trees, I punched it softly and nothing happened. Therefore, I started increasing the intensity of my punches. At one point, the wood broke a bit so I started fisting it at regular speed and power. It rhythm came very easily to me as if I have been doing it for years. I soon got a part of the tree trunk, which popped out as an item. I picked it up from the ground and it appeared in my hand encased in a bubble and floating on top of my palm. The hot-bar also appeared floating in front of the bubble. I thought of changing the slot and it happened easily. I also thought of getting back to the wood and the slot jumped immediately to the wood.

I went on to take down the entire tree… the leaves disappeared quickly and a new sapling appeared right on the place where the tree used to be.

"Cool" I thought as I left the sapling be as I manually picked up the surrounding items. It took me good two or three minutes to take down one tree and pick up its drops. I quickly went to another tree and punched it down as well. It also dropped a few items around me. I tried to suck them up somehow, like in game, as picking them up all the time was a drag and very time consuming. It worked, the items jumped to me as soon as I got close enough and I thought of picking them up.

"Well that is convenient."

I opened my inventory and crafted a crafting table… thankfully, I was not in some of those hardcore packs that made you get flint for everything in the early stages of the game.

Making the crafting table was easy. I popped the bubbles that contained planks into the slots, willing a certain amount of planks in each slot. Playing a bit around with this took up most of my time. When I finished experimenting with the UI, I quickly took the crafting table and it appeared in my hand encased in a bubble.

It wasn't placed in my hot-bar… looked like it was being carried by my "mouse" so to say… lol. I placed it directly in front of me. Looks like I don't need to place things only using my hot-bar either. Then I crafted some sticks in my inventory crafting grid and they appeared in my hand. Experimenting a bit I was able to will them in and out of my hot-bar. I moved them into my inventory and came up to the newly placed crafting table.

Crafting some tools didn't take much time. I went on to cut down some more trees and pick up their loot.

Slowly I noticed the day passing as I collected three stacks of wood a bunch of sticks and some more saplings… with only wooden tools. I didn't care, just the process of actually being in this world was so fun to me. I savored every moment that I could, even if that was causing inefficiency.

When I came back to my starting area, I noticed that the sun had moved quite a bit from the early morning. Looks like a few hours passed. I was surprised at how long it took me to get the wood but I didn't care

Digging a staircase down into the ground would now be a smart decision. Hoping to get some cobblestone and make a makeshift base so I can hide when night comes. I got some cobble and quickly went upstairs to make my new STONE pickaxe. I made upgraded versions of my other two tools and made myself a sword.

I looked at the JEI and saw that I could apparently make a spear. It was not hard… I needed 3 sticks placed at an angle and I got a spear handle… when put a stone on top of it I got a stone spear… apparently it strikes faster through water compared to a sword. Together with a higher pierce percentage which apparently ignored 33% defense from Tier 1 armors. I looked it up and noticed that those were mostly leather, chain-mail and some other types of flimsy armor.

(A/N: chain mail is metal… but it is weak to stabs)

I got to the river and took off my clothes which were equipped in an another tab in my inventory. Clothes replaced the armor slots when I got onto the baubles tab… I hadn't noticed that last time since my attention was dragged away by the goddesses tips. I could also take off my clothes normally but then it looks like they wouldn't be itemized… it really stuck me as weird but it is how it is. I also wondered if anything else behaved that way. I struck the spear into the ground and it remained there… no itemization in sight.

"Looks like when things interact with the world they can't be itemized."

"Good to know."

I checked the river for anything potentially dangerous… you never know if a water elemental might kill you. God… RL Craft is brutal.

I proceeded to hunt down five cod. I thought it was enough and I got out of the river. Thankfully, I dried in a matter of seconds as soon as I got out. I put on my clothes and got back into my underground hole.

As I started widening the "room", in which I was planning to live in for a few days, I noticed that the darkness was actually getting dark… I could not see a thing after a while. It was not like the game where you could still see something even in a cave. I quickly made some furnaces to cook up some charcoal for torches.

"I should have thought of this sooner I'm such a dumbass. The cooking times could potentially be abysmal"

"Wake up Marko, this is not a game!" I slapped my cheeks lightly with both of my hands.

Thankfully, it did not take long for the wood to cook up; about a minute, for every log. I also let the cod cook too since I was a bit hungry. Tired both mentally and physically I sat down under a tree dosing off and waiting for my charcoal and food to be finished. The surrounding forest really felt nice… even though when I looked across the river I could see a nice flat but short planes biome, about 30 blocks in distance and after it a scary looking thick Dark forest. However, the snowy mountains in its background looked majestic.

I didn't want to think about the scary looking place in the distance anymore. I got up and decided to explore my nice little sanctuary. I prepared some of my wood to cook and turn into charcoal, took some of the cod and left. Thankfully, the map that was built into my Minecraft system, as I decided to call it, was very detailed so I was safe from getting lost.

After following the river that was surrounding my little sakura forest I had pretty much mapped out the outer perimeter of the forest.

I kept walking until the river stopped following a circle and actually started moving towards the Dark Forest. It went on north where it separated the dark forest on one part and a planes biome on the other. I had just stepped into the planes biome moments ago, leaving the cherry blossom forest. It stretched far and at the horizon, I could only see more of those majestic snowy mountains. It looked like they surrounded this entire place. Not that I complained, as it is a potential barrier to any people. I would rather live alone for a while until I am situated enough. I don't know the level of progress of this worlds people after all.

I had decided to circle the sakura forest so I proceeded to move east, along the border between the sakura forest and the planes biome. I didn't see anything of worth until I stumbled upon some animals… I ignored them and kept walking east until I again saw the dark wood forest in the distance. The river was again separating the forest and the planes.

"It seems as if the whole place is symmetrical and the sakura forest is incased by the river." I thought aloud. I kept walking along the border until I noticed on the map that I was going full circle.

"Looks like my theory was correct." Only the north part was open to the planes with them stretching all the way to the mountains, while the rest is symmetrical.

Looks like the whole forest is one big circle, it was a bit too coincidental for it to be a perfect circle. I decided to investigate the center tomorrow since today I mapped out the edges of the forest.

I made a full circle that I could now see on the map and I was slowly returning to the base. Thinking about all the things, I have seen as I was on my way back. Slowly my thoughts wandered to the system. I opened it and started looking thought what else it had in stall for me.

Looking at my window as I walked I went to the status screen. When clicked on the food section it showed the nutrition screen. I paid attention to my nutritional percentages. Looks like I have to actually balance between Dairy, Fruit, Grain, Protein and Vegetables. It isn't that complicated. Nutrition always annoyed me as a mod but it looks like the percentages do not go down that fast as they used to in the game. I had also noticed Pam's Harvistcraft in the JEI so I was quite happy at the thought of being able to make all kinds of food.

Thinking of food, I munched on some cod… I was surprised how tasty it was. There were also no bones or anything in it, just meat, so I was pretty satisfied.

On my journey back, I saw quite a bit of animals like pigs, cows, chickens, even sheep. I decided not to kill any of them for food since it was smarter to pursue long-term gains and the fish in the river was plentiful. The sheep looked tempting but as if someone wanted to humor me there were only 3 sheep and one was pink and the other two white… so I didn't even have a definite bed if I kill all of them. I left them alone and sped up my return home while looking around.

By the time I got back the smelting was already done, I made some torches and lit up my little hole. I also placed them outside in a pattern to light up my surroundings… you never know if mobs spawn like they do in game so it's better to be cautious. I don't even know if they will actually be intelligent. I took some sand too so I can make a bit of glass. I made a small wooden house 4x3 big so it encompasses my staircase down. I put the glass that was made into the frame of the house.

"It will be useful to scout my surroundings after a wake up. Hopefully the monsters won't have too much intelligence"

Then I lit up the insides of the makeshift wooden house and blocked off my hole with dirt as it started getting dark. I got inside and rested on the pink wooden plank floor that I had made. The color kinda annoyed me but this is the only wood I have on me right now… can't complain. My day was not as productive as I wanted it to be but it was fun. I got some starting materials and food, I have a place to sleep in and I scouted the area.

I sat on the floor next to the crafting table I had placed inside before I left on my scouting mission. The hole smelled of fresh dirt, it felt nice, somehow. The nature of things that are now around me always surprised me. At first I hadn't noticed the smells that are around me but now that I relaxed a bit to think about it, it felt nice. Suddenly I felt a chill as the temperature around me dropped. It only now reached my slow brain but my hidey-hole was after all underground and it was cold.

I looked through JEI for a bit and found an item - stone heater. I built the heater. It was just a furnace surrounded by eight blocks of stone in the crafting table. It wasn't hard and since I had a lot of wood I could easily smelt anything that I needed. However, the stone needed a bit longer to smelt than what it took for the charcoal or the food.

When I built it I was surprised at how as soon as I put some charcoal in, it got the temperature up to a very comfortable level. Its UI displayed that one piece of charcoal gave me 1h worth of heat. I placed 9 more and closed the screen. It was weird to think that the furnace or the torches didn't emit any heat… but it looks like I have to stop thinking of this world as normal. Well this is my new normal after all. I checked the torches and they sure emitted some heat… but It was barely noticeable. I chucked as I remembered crucibles using torches to smelt cobble into lava. Well after all it is a game world… it will probably work if I try it.

I cozied up as much as I could in my corner that I made out of wooden planks and slowly fell asleep, exited at the future prospects of my life and this new exiting world.

A/N: I haven't re-read this again after completing it... I will do it tomorrow since I just want to publish something. Do not expect chapters for a few weeks now until I finish all my exams.

Until then! :)

Well this was a fun to write, 3200 words. I wrote it in a Word document so I think there shoud not be any mistakes. Do tell if you spot some.

It is 2x longer than the two previous chapters. I tried making it as good as possible. With giving you a somewhat of an info dump but without trying to overwhelm you with information about how the world worked. After all I'm describing his own point of view.
