3 Growing up (2)

"Happy birthday little Yan! You're finally ten."

"Thank you grandpa Hu!" Ziyan cried out. "Thank you for the cake and wishing me happy birthday."

Chuckling, grandpa Hu replied: "Aiyo little Yan. What are you saying, this is something grandpa should do. It's your birthday. Of course grandpa will wish you happy birthday. Now quickly eat the cake and get ready for school. You wouldn't want to keep the young miss waiting."

"Yessir!" Eating the cake, Ziyan quickly got dressed and prepared for school. "This cake is very good. But what's that?"

"Haha, yes it is. I asked the chef to make me a small cake for you and this lunch box. Eat is at school, but careful not to let the young miss know of this."

Jumping over, Ziyan gave grandpa Hu a big hug and said goodbye. "I love you gramps. See you in the afternoon!"

Walking around, Ziyan went to the back meadow towards the small pond near the north-eastern gate.

Reaching the pond, she was about to sit down to eat her lunch when she heard the sound of rustling leaves. Whipping her head around, she saw a young boy about fifteen-sixteen years old standing by a bush.

He was the most beautiful person she had ever seen. Straight and defined nose, dark straight eyebrows, sharp jawline and startling black eyes. Unfortunately, his mouth hung in a slight frown, turning his beautiful face many tones colder.

[Wow, what a hunk. Even though he's in the midst of puberty, nothing looks out of place and no acne either. Blessed by the gods. But a such a character, should be avoided. Who knows how many girls and troublesome situations follow him.]

Nodding her head in greeting, Ziyan quickly turned to leave.

At this moment, a clear but boyish voice rang out. "Wait."

Hearing the call, Ziyan groaned internally; 'Ugh, why must this ice prince call me out. I hope this ends quickly.' Turning around, Ziyan smiled. "Yes? Can I help you?"

Hearing her question, the boy momentarily faltered. He did not know why he called her out either. Maybe it was that pair of almond shaped eyes. Clear and devoid of impurities, yet contained traces of mischievousness.

Straightening his blazer, he nodded his head towards the box in Ziyan's grasp: "No need to mind me. You can have your lunch here."

"No no no, it's okay. I was just walking around. I can find another place to eat and won't disturb you any longer."

Hearing he refusal, the boy became somewhat irritated and at a loss towards the unexpected result. This caused him to fall into a slight daze.
