8 Good ol' high school (4)

Unlike other students, Ziyan did not choose to continue browsing the remainder of the stalls available. She was determined to obtain that position of student librarian at the National University. And the best way to help herself achieve this goal was to ensure there will be no path of retreat. She will not give herself any other options for the compulsory school co-curricular club activities.

Therefore, Ziyan's next destination was the school auditorium for the orientation speech scheduled to start in twenty minutes.

--------------------------------------------------------------

"As a result, I wish you new students all the best for your future studies at our seventh high! Strive for the best and always try your hardest, for only then will you have no regrets and be able to achieve great things in life. This is your principal, and I will now give the stage back to Vice-Principal Qiu." Bowing slightly, Principal Luo returned to his seat at the side of the stage.

Waiting for the round of applause to conclude, Vice-Principal Qiu straightened her jacket and began the concluding speeches. "Thank you Principal Luo for you inspiring and informative speech. Now this orientation assembly has come to an end. Second and third years, you may exit in an orderly fashion back to your classroom to begin your classes. First years, please wait for your year supervisor to give future instructions."

With that, the school's executive staff proceeded to walk off the side of the stage, while the remainder of the students shuffled out.

[Ugh, finally it's over. No matter what age or how old you are, orientation and speeches are the worst. One and a half hours is far too long. And not to mention, I have to sit through this for another two years. Hah.....]

As Ziyan was in the midst of her complaints, a middle-aged lady in a white suit dress set walked over. 'Clack, clack, clack' went her heels.

"I welcome all of you new students. And I know that you will hate the monologue I am supposed to give, and probably will not listen anyways. So to save my time and our time, everyone will receive a guideline and information booklet about the various facilities available. I am your supervisor for the next three years, Mrs Xu."

Her introduction surprised many of the students, as it was not everyday that teachers were this straightforward with introductions.

"As for class allocations, you should have been all informed in an email sent out last week. Students in class 1-A, please follow your homeroom teacher Mr Lin to your classroom."

Hearing her class called out first, Ziyan quickly picked up her bag and booklets to her classroom with her new classmates.

Walking along near the back of the group, Ziyan noticed that various students had already started to form groups and established who their friends would be.

[It's the same no matter where you go. Easy-going and 'popular-ish' will automatically group together and be near the centre of any group. The quiet ones will be together, girls with girls, boys with boys, etc.]

Chuckling to herself, Ziyan did not notice a presence nearing her.

Jumping up from the sudden tap on the shoulder, Ziyan turned around to she a small girl about 156cm in height. She wore her hair in two low pigtails, accentuating her child-like and cute appearance. Her entire being shouted cute, little, bunny-like.

"Hi there! I'm Zhang Lili, you can call me Lili!" She beamed.

Cocking her head to the side, Ziyan smiled back. "Hello Lili, I'm Qing Ziyan. You can call me Ziyan."

"Waaaa, what a pretty name. Purple flame. I really like the colour purple as well!"

"Haha, thank you Lili." Noticing the slightly dash in her steps, Ziyan slowed her pace down for Lili to catch up.

"Thank you Ziyan! So, how are you feeling about the first day of high school? I'm feeling very excited and nervous. >_< Everything is so different, but yet the same from middle school."

[Seems I won't be able to avoid a conversation, but I guess I could also make some friends. For the past 11 years, I've been focused too much on studying that I didn't really get to relax. Phalanx will be finished soon, so I guess I can take a break.]

"I'm feeling alright. I mean, this is just like the first day of middle school. As long as you read and listen to all instructions, you'll be able to smoothly finish and pass the day without any hitchhikes."

Eyes wide open in amazement, Lili exclaimed, "Ziyan, you speak so maturely. You don't seem like a high school student at all~! I want to learn and become some mature like you!"

[Haha, that's because I've already experienced this already. Although it has been some time, but high school is nothing new to me. As for mature, I'm really that mature-]

"Oh right! Aren't we lucky though, Wang Mingyu is in our class."

"Wang Mingyu?"
