1 Awakening pt.1

Diana stood up shaking her head as the ringing in her ears didn't stop, she looked at the crash site with her eyes wide open as she hadn't expected this big of an explosion. Both Ares and Howard were nowhere to be seen. Diana knew this wasn't just it as she watched the sky seeing the plane Steve was on blown to smithereens just moments after, sending a huge enough shockwave that could be felt even on the ground.

Diana narrowed her eyes, it wasn't clear as to what she was feeling at the moment but one thing was for sure, she had enough of Ares. Her anger could be seen by anyone who took one glimpse at her exquisite face. The beautiful friendly Diana looked cold and even James and Victor fighting on the side could feel the hair on their body standing up.

Diana looked around at the destruction, the people who she regarded as friends fighting for their life. Some even willing to sacrifice themselves for the deed to help humankind. Their motives didn't matter at the moment as the only thing important right now was to kill Ares.

*Boom*

The debris exploded away as Ares stood up with no hesitation from the sea of fire. His body on fire, he stood up straight as the metal debris around him gathered on his body melting away as it formed an armor covering his entire body, from head to toe. Digging through the helmet he melted away the metal opening-up the front.

Diana was ready to fight but she hesitated, noticing what Ares had in his hand. Ares carried with him the decapitated head of Howard held by his hair. Ares let go of the lifeless head as it rolled on the ground and staring right into Diana, he crushed Howard's head with a stomp as the head exploded shooting of blood and brain matter all over the place. And just that was the final trigger, Diana launched at Ares throwing hailstorm of attacks, left and right.

The more she raged, the stronger she fought. That was Diana's strength, in a battle making her angry was useless as she would just keep on coming stronger and stronger every time. With every punch, her body accelerated further and with every kick, she got angrier and angrier. As if a volcano, everything she held in busted out in an instant. The confusion, the destruction, the senseless killing all of the things she held inside just transferred into hate.

"Let's see what kind of god you really are," Ares said pushing her off as the debris around formed into a sword as he struck at her but Diana who was in a complete rage mode didn't even flinch blocking it with her gauntlet as the sword fell into pieces.

Without hesitation, she jumped onto Ares throwing heavy punches until Ares kicked her off of him. Ares quickly used the surrounding debris to hold Diana as she struggled to break free.

"Yes, let the hate flow within you, Diana." Ares grinned, "Realize what you are and help me destroy them."

James and Victor were all thrown to the point of exhaustion as they fought and fought. The enemy tore them into pieces but without focusing on regeneration they had to keep on fighting. Artemis was much better than the two of them but with the enemy, in a group alongside fighting off bullets, it was hard to keep focus.

"DUCK!!"

Artemis who wasn't sure what was going on looked behind when suddenly James and Victor pushed her on the ground. Bullets, countless bullets rained on the men, shooting them all down. The only thing fascinating than the A7V tank shooting bullets was the time it took for the soldier to fall down.

James and the others crawled their way out and when it was clear. Chief who was on top of the tank, dropped down as he prepared the cannon. His focus was mainly Ares and with him just far away from Diana who was still struggling to break free from Ares hold, he launched the canon. But to his surprise, Ares stopped the canon with just a wave of his hand as he stared back at the tank with hate.

"Pathetic!" He said as he threw the cannon back towards them as it nearly hit the tank back but nothing happened. Similar to how he stopped the cannon it stood still midway as Sameer and Chief escaped the tank. Before Ares could figure out what was wrong, Diana broke free under the distraction as she hit Ares with an uppercut followed by a kick throwing him far away. Diana was about to launch towards him for the kill when a sudden voice rang inside her head, a force letting her finally distinguish away from the hate within her.

Deep inside she finally understood what Howard meant and even what Ares wanted her to understand. She understood what her mother meant when she told her that these people didn't deserve her. Humans really were miserable, a being made to destroy, a being that was meant to fight, they were indeed such creatures that would even find a way to ruin peace just for their need for attention.

But they had something more in them. A will to do good, a will to better themselves, a will to understand this complex world, and unlike the Amazons, they had more of a purpose than to just fight.

Billions of them with similar qualities, everyone driven by something but all of them similarly different in every aspect. Humans weren't perfect by any means but they made earth what it was, they deserved to live, to be protected because everyone had good in them. A will to fight against the evil, a will to sacrifice themselves when needed, and an ability to love. Just this made them worth it.

With her reasons back, Diana finally understood the words Howard whispered to her before. "You are the God killer, Diana!"

"What's wrong giving up so soon?" Ares stood up as he launched debris at her but without even dodging she blocked away the things thrown at her with just the force produced from her gauntlets. "Guess, you've had enough but oh dear Diana, the anger you fed me was worth it."
