10 Chapter 9

At the office, Estefani looked around at the empty room everything was packed into boxes, which mostly contained art supplies. Finishing putting her last supplies into a box until someone knocked on her door.

"Hey," said a familiar voice.

Estefani turned around from her art desk to see Violetta just quietly watching just like the first day she met her at the pizza place on her first day of work. Violetta, unlike the first day, loved to talk and was not afraid to tell you how it is. "¿Vienes para decir me adios?" Hey, here to tell me goodbye?

Violetta eyes sadden as she rubbed her right arm, "¿Deberas te vas?" So you're really leaving?"

Estefani nodded as she finished taping the box closed.

"I was hoping that you would stay but I can see you're not going to be changing your mind." Violetta started to put her hands inside her front jean pocket. "Maybe that's why Miss Evans' asked me to tell you to go to her office. She probably still has hope she can convince you to stay."

"She asked you?" Estefani asked confused, "Why? Doesn't she usually asks Gabriel to do things for her?"

"I know right! But I haven't seen him all day." Violetta started to play with a black strand of hair. "I don't think he even came to work today."

Estefani sighed, "Alright, thank you for telling me. I'll just finish up here and see what she wants."

"Alright, hope to visit your place, once you've settled back." she gave Estefani a hug and kissed her cheek as a goodbye.

"What do you think she wants?" said Liam from under the desk.

"I don't know but I'm afraid that it has to do with what happened yesterday" crouching down to grab Liam's leash. "I guess we'll see, now won't we?"

In the elevator, Estefani's palms were sweaty. She could feel the leash getting soaked from her palms. She tried wiping them on her jeans but it made little difference.

"Don't be nervous as long as you don't say anything about yesterday you should be fine," Liam said trying to calm her down.

Once the elevator doors opened Estefani redid her salmon colored tank top bow, took a deep breath and walked to Miss Evans office. Everything on Miss Evans' desk was put away, even the dust had been wiped clean. The first time going to Miss Evans' office she never noticed the windows having curtain unlike the first day being able to see the trees and building all she could see right at that moment was a dim room.

Estefani looked at the back of the chair behind the desk, "I heard you wanted to talk to me."

Miss Evans didn't respond.

Estefani looked at Liam and shrugged.

"Maybe she's asleep," she said to Liam.

"What do you mean maybe? I thought you could tell since you can tell when someone is dead."

Liam laughed, "About that, I lied. I don't know when someone dies it's not in my field. It takes a long time to learn to be able to see when someone dies. I only said it to calm you down."

"What? You lied then how do I know that the person isn't dead?"

"I'm pretty sure someone at work would have told you, news spreads fast."

Estefani sighed in relief, "Then do you think she's asleep?"

"Possibly, one way to find out right?" he said as he motioned his head toward the chair.

Estefani slowly crept closer to the chair as to not wake Miss Evans but no one was there.

"That's odd? Miss Evans' said to come to her office," she said as both of them started coughing.

Estefani wheezed "What's going on?"

Liam laid down having trouble breathing. "I don't...know."

Estefani leaned on the Miss Evans' desk as everything in the room started to spin around her. Falling to the ground next to Liam as she could no longer hold herself up. It kept getting harder like her throat was closing. Tears streamed down as she stretched an arm towards him. Liam slowly started closing his eyes then everything went pitch black.

She woke up with her head throbbing. Estefani tried to move her hand but couldn't her wrists were strapped. She tried to look around but her eyesight was too blurry to make out anything.

Estefani heart started racing.

"Liam, can you hear me? Are you awake?" she said trying to contact Liam through her mind.

"Loud and clear," he responded

"Are you okay?" she said relieved

"Yea, are you?"

"Yea but my vision is blurry." Estefani kept blinking, " I can't see anything. Are you even near me? How long have we been out for?"

"I don't know, my vision is blurry as well."

"So you're finally awake," said a familiar voice.

Estefani looked around and settled her eyes to what looked like a human figure, "Miss Evans?"

"I thought we've gone through this many times just call me Eleanor," said Miss Evans sounding irritated.

"Hey, what's going on?" said Liam

"It's Miss Evans."

"What is she doing here?"

"That's the same thing I was thinking."

Estefani moved her arms in hopes of breaking the straps around her wrist. Her breathing started to get heavy as tears streamed down her face, "Why are you doing this? Why do you want us dead?"

"Well isn't she being ungrateful you saving her life and this is how she is repaying it."

"Dead?" Miss Evans sounded surprised, " No you have it all wrong. You see you were supposed to fall asleep. How was I supposed to know you'd have a terrible reaction to the sleeping gas. I had barely even opened the container when I noticed that you were having trouble breathing."

Estefani squirmed in her seat. "Then why am I strapped? I can't move."

"Safety measures, I don't want you to get scared and accidentally hurt me."

"What are you talking about?" said Estefani.

"I saw what you can do. I have surveillance video to prove it." A sound of excitement could be heard in Miss Evans voice.

Estefani panicked, "Liam she knows!"

"Hold on I'll be there I just need to concentrate on your location."

Estefani squirmed in her seat as she tried to break free, "Saw what?" her body started trembling as tears started trickling down her cheeks, "Miss Evans you're scaring me"

The ground started trembling as metal things started to rattle.

Estefani could hear a thud on the ground, "Liam?"

"I'm here no need to worry."

"You're that guy from last time I remember," said Miss Evans with anxiousness in her voice.

"Be quiet."

The only thing that Estefani could hear was a gust of wind and the sound of choking. "Liam, what's going on?"

"Nothing for you to worry about"

Estefani wrist strapped vanish and as if by magnetic attraction she was pulled towards Liam.

"Close your eyes," said Liam

Estefani did what he said. Liam touched each eyelid and when Estefani opened her eyes she could see.

She looked at Liam, he was wearing a white turtleneck and white jeans even his shoes were white. Estefani looked around to see a laboratory with high tech devices that she hadn't ever seen before. Looking up she gasped, "Liam what are you doing let Miss Evans go you're killing her"

"Isn't that what she was going to do to us" he sighed "Fine I'll let her go."
