Death City: The last meeting

Time began to flow sluggishly in this city of the undead. I didn't think I'd miss the undead and the thrill they gave me. I killed them all. Okay, not all of them yet. The task now looks like this:

There's only one f*cking assh*le left to kill. Oh, I can't express just how much I hate him. Him, and all those that I had to look for. My hunt turned from the "exterminate" mode to the "search" mode six days ago. At that time, I had left a little over a hundred undead to kill. During this time, I found every undead, but the last one... it is the third day here that I run around the city in search for him, I can't find the b*tch. I have already looked into every apartment, checked every ruin, and many places that I don't want to name. The undead is nowhere to be seen, and it's really annoying!

There is a positive thing as well – in my search I managed to collect everything in the dungeon that could be collected and sold to the system.

I've been here for three weeks, and now I gained certain understanding of this place. For example, this dungeon is a closed space, and in fact, if you go straight in one direction, after ten kilometres of walk, you will find yourself at the same point where you started. Moreover, if you try hard enough, you can find evidence for the fact that this is not a full-fledged city, but a piece cut out of it.

But it's just some interesting facts.

It is also interesting that I once almost killed myself attacking the Big-Boss. I confused it with an ordinary undead and rushed at it from a distance. As it turned out, the knife I'd stuck in its head was missing. If at the last moment I hadn't remembered my previous experience with it and looked at its name and level, I would have been either a corpse or a disabled man.

Honestly speaking, I should be finishing the dungeon raid. At least try to kill the Big-Boss. But there is a non-zero probability that the dungeon will simply disappear after the raid, or I will have maximum twenty-four hours to complete the quest. In short, I will complete the quest! Because the alternative is death.

"I'm sick of it." - For the umpteenth time, I wailed to myself. It doesn't seem to be the first time I've spent this much in the dungeons, but it's the first time I've ever been so bored. – "Provide me with the internet, or something. I could have watched some pussies playing with each other. My mood would have improved." — I'm talking about the real cats, not what an outsider might think of. I'm a real cat person, not a pervert.

I turned to one of the many corners of the city and took three steps back. I immediately flew out of there like a bullet. A second passed. The second one. Nothing happens. Very cautiously, I peered into the alley.

Indeed, it stands there. I took a closer look at the name, and...

[Undead. Level 5]

I rubbed my eyes. One more time. It is there.

"Oh, come on." - I whimpered. – "I've been all over the place at least twice, I thought, it was in one the rooms or under the ruins after the Legions ' rampage. And he was walking around the city all this time?!" - My resentment turned to anger.

Practically, it could be killed with a quick blow to the head. But I needed to take the stress off.

My voice had already caught its attention, and its strode toward me with its arms outstretched.

I grab the hand, swing it a little, and throw it over me. It won't be able to get up – it's been checked, the undead are too stupid to think of helping themselves to stand up with their hands. I sit on top of it, my legs are blocking its arms.

Hit. The second one. The third.

That was the end of it. I wasn't going to be hysterical, but for every single day I looked for it, I needed to hit it at least once. It's like the tendency to hit a door or wall in a fit of anger. I wouldn't do that either if it was somewhere hard to find.

The knife went into its eye and it stayed there.

[Level up.

All standard stats +5.

Free Points +10.]

[Your "intelligence" stat has reached a value of 100 units. Natural growth is stopped.]

[As a reward for increasing your intelligence to the maximum natural score, you are given the skill: Accelerated Perception X10.

Accelerated perception - allows you to speed up the flow of time in your mind, so that the flow of time in the world around is perceived slower.]

I didn't even know that this last undead would raise my level. The experience I got from ordinary undead was so small that I stopped looking at the status long ago when I killed the last Legion. However, how it all coincided.

I am glad that I was given the skill, but it still needs to be tested in practice. And it's really frustrating that the stats stop rising after hitting one hundred units. Not spending my free points to become stronger – I would really like that. But life is a pain, especially mine. So, we have what we have, and we accept it.

Okay, now I realize that my whining is completely inappropriate. So, I got more than I could have ever dreamed of.

The only thing you need to note for yourself is not to invest your free points in parameters that have not reached a hundred units.

I practiced a little with the new skill, which, as it turned out, is activated at my thought. It accelerates consciousness which is a very convenient skill for combat, and it makes ordinary life incredibly difficult. When everything is moving at a deceleration of ten times – it's ... it's like watching a movie at a speed of "0.1". No normal person can stand it.

A few minutes later I was doing…push-ups. What? I haven't finished the daily quest yet, and the day should soon be coming to an end. And it won't hurt to warm up before the last fight. Not that I'm planning on engaging a D-rank boss, but it's possible to relax a bit.

It's been three weeks since I got here. In terms of strength, I think I am already a D ranker, because almost all of my increased stats have already taken an effect.

On the one hand, this is a little disappointing, because the stats of seventy or more give you the hope for great strength, but what can you do – the difference between the ranks is too large. For example, I can easily lift a car or even throw it to the third floor. This is what my physical power allows me to do now. But any C ranker can do even more.

I'm not complaining though. I can't complain about being weak. Among adventurers, the rank and strength are determined at the moment of awakening, and I am not aware of any cases where someone has raised the rank further up. So, I should be happy, despite the conditions to obtain this power.

"It's time you know the honour. I'm sure some people are waiting for me at home" - I said, stretching my shoulders as I headed toward the Servant of Death.

The plan to kill the Big-Boss was surprisingly simple. But this is no less spectacular. And the fact that the main undead of this place is always walking on the same trajectory will greatly simplify my task.

To begin with, I put a dozen barrels of gunpowder compressing it as much as possible. I would not like to spend so much on one opponent, but we must act for sure. Right next to the barrels, I put Molotov Cocktails to make sure to cause a massive explosion in all the barrels at the same time.

After setting up the explosives, I waited with a sniper rifle in my hand. Of course, I was far away enough so that I don't und up the same way as I did last time. Not that I was an expert on explosions of this magnitude, so I chose a distance of five hundred meters. With my current skills, I should hit the correct spot with one hundred percent accuracy.

A minute passed. The second. Fifth. The tenth. The Big Boss still didn't show up. IT should have already, though.

It took me a while to notice that something was wrong. Or maybe I didn't have the time to do so. But at the last moment, something in me howled. Just out of the blue, I sensed danger from behind. I don't know if that saved me or if the intention to begin with wasn't to kill me, but I don't remember even twitching at that moment, let alone covering my vital organs.

My left hand fell to the ground before I even realized what had happened.
