10 Registration

First entering what was the guild, Haru was again surprised by the huge difference in construction, but he knew he should get used to it.

"Now, first let's get you registered as an adventurer. Up to that point we can cover for you, but as for a familia I'm sorry, but I'm fairly convinced that our goddess doesn't accept level 1 adventurers..."

Although theoretically Haru still lacked a falna, by the time he would receive it his level would have passed to 1. But in Orario, there were not many familias willing to take with them level 1 as the mentality was that wasting resources on adventurers without knowing their exact abilities was a thing only a foolish person would do, at least for the gods with a higher-ranking familia. Although initially Haru didn't follow the speech due to lack of information, Lum didn't hesitate to explain to Haru how the various families were ranked from I to S based on various factors. Of course, he was aware of the most famous familias such as Loki and Hephaestus familia, but in addition to their names and having seen the appearance of the two Goddesses in charge, Haru knew practically nothing about them.

But first, he was sent by Lum to ask at the counter to talk with an advisor and, after a short time, in front of him appeared a woman with a set of black vest and pants, a white collared long sleeve shirt underneath and a grey bow tie.

"You requested an advisor...oh, are you new to the guild? Welcome! My name is Misha Flott. What can I do for you?"

The latter asked what Haru wanted with a polite smile, and to her question said in such a formal way he felt the need to answer just as formally.

"Greetings. My name is Yamaguchi Haru. I would like to register as an adventurer, is that possible?"

Meeting her eyes, Haru paused for a second on the appearance of the woman. She had pink eyes that pointed almost to a reddish, and hair of the same color, with the only difference being that they had a lighter shade, but even counting the small difference in hues, she was really charming, but he didn't pay much attention to this point, he was here to talk about business after all..

The woman was very surprised. The request itself wasn't unusual, but in her career, she had always to deal with people rather rough or who were simply not accustomed to speaking in a formal context, although the boy wore poor quality clothes and his hair was messy, Misha could almost feel that even if in poor condition, judging this boy by the cover wouldn't have been correct.

"...You can register as an adventurer, but it is a very dangerous job, I don't recommend becoming one at all. In the end the choice remains of those who registers though."

Misha could almost see in front of her several figures of adventurers who, underestimating the dungeon, had never returned, but she was different from her friend who cared so much for every single adventurer, Although the no return of promising adventurers grieved her very much, she didn't feel guilty nor brooded about it for too long. It was the choice of the newbie adventurers to underestimate the Dungeon, she could warn them not to descend beyond a certain limit, but in the end, the choice laid in their hands.

"I appreciate the concern, I will prepare myself to the best of my ability before entering the dungeon, losing my life because I underestimated the Dungeon would be truly embarrassing."

He didn't feel particularly confident. Of course, he had a physique now a little trained, and he had a sword much more expensive than what the normal adventurers possessed, but it was all he had. Underestimating something he didn't even know well was so stupid that Haru could only reflect on how people thought they were dealing with monsters if their abilities simply weren't enough to face them.

At his words her eyes a bit lost behind thoughts to which she didn't want to reflect on returned to look at the boy. After all the time she had been there to observe the adventurers, she had never seen eyes so simple, but at the same time so clear. There was no doubt. The boy in front of her already knew not to underestimate the Dungeon for no reason, Misha felt able to put a bit of trust in what will be a new adventurer under her tutelage.

"...I see. In this case there are no problems, you can add your personal information that you are requested here on this sheet, once completed I can issue you a licence. The next step will be to find a familia that suits your needs. Usually all adventurers choose the families of exploration, the problem is that the Loki familia always requires adventurers with level 3 or higher experience, while the others usually require at least level 2. Do you fall into one of these two categories?"

If he was at least level 3, Misha could get in touch with Loki to try and bargain with her, if he was level 2 there would be fewer chances, and if he was level 1, he would have serious problems finding a familia that wants to take him.

"No, I don't even have a falna yet."

His words made Misha sigh. She hoped that maybe he would come from somewhere outside Orario where some God or Goddess had at least given him a falna. It was rare, but for sure some familia would take a level one adventurer with A or S rank parameters, or at least that was what Misha hoped for, but unfortunately, while Haru had no falna, and it was impossible for him to accumulate excilia.

"...I'll see what I can do for you. Just give me one second..."

Normally Misha rejected this type of adventurer, saying that no familia would take them as it was the truth, and above all she didn't want them to do irresponsible things just to get the recognition they needed to get into a familia, but Haru was different, he really looked like an adventurer promising and cordial, and Misha would have liked the presence of someone like him, instead of all the other rude adventurers full of themselves.

By nodding, Haru finished filling in the sheet with information that was required of him such as name, surname, age, and place of origin.

While he had filled the sheet, Misha searched among the documents those relating to the familias that could have welcomed him and, among the many papers, one in particular made her stop.

".. Right! Hephaestus familia is organizing an event for talented blacksmiths. If you can impress Hephaestus-sama, no matter your level, I'm sure she could keep you with her."

Upon hearing the news, Haru had his eyes widening in amazement. Of all the names he would have expected to hear, he didn't really expect that goddess. All he knew about her was her appearance, but the problem was that he had never touched tools to forge before.

But from the way Misha was saying it, Haru realized it was a truly unmissable opportunity. He didn't expect to be able to impress Hephaestus, but it was always better to participate than to remain without a familia at all.

"I see. I think I'll try to participate. Is there anything else you can offer me though? I'm not really sure I have the qualities that Hephaestus is looking for."

Not wanting to believe he could be admitted to the Hephaestus familia, Haru kindly asked Misha to check in more detail, and she, nodding to understand the reason for his insecurities, continued to read through the documents until she noticed that there was also a temporary request of which she had forgotten.

"In case you aren't admitted to the Hephaestus familia, your only alternative would be to try in the Takemikazuchi familia, compared to the Hephaestus familia though, it is composed of only 6 members and in addition it seems that only members who came from the far east are allowed to be in, they do not accept full-time adventurers. The request would require you to enter for a varying period of time from a couple of months or even more and in exchange for the status update, a fee that would serve Takemikazuchi to support his shrine would be needed to be paid, It's a deal that practically no one wants, but if there's really no other way..."

Haru had a doubtful face. He didn't know who this Takemikazuchi was, but he was sure that paying a percentage of his earnings for a falna wouldn't be a bad start. The important thing was to have a falna in the first place, after all. Once he had climbed to level 2 or 3, Haru could choose to leave the Takemikazuchi familia and go to a more conspicuous familia like the Loki Familia, there was no need to hurry, or at least that was what he thought.

"But returning to the event of the Hephaestus familia, it will be held in a couple of days at the tower of Babel, precisely on the 7th floor."

By nodding, Haru was at least aware of this information, the Tower of Babel was simply the tower whose peak wasn't visible to the naked eye, and it is located precisely in the centre of the city, dividing it into various areas.

Accepting both of Misha's proposals, he was about to thank her for the service before going back to inform Lum he had accomplished what he had come here for and, having already paid for it, he thought he would go away to find a place to sleep for the night, but Misha stopped him.

"Oh wait. I wanted to tell you about one last thing. There are lessons that the Guild has been offering adventurers so that they can learn everything there is to know about the Dungeon before proceeding further, they don't last more than an hour every two, three days. Since you seem perfect for that, what do you think of participating?"

Usually adventurers would reject this type of thing if not a few individuals, which is why Misha avoided even mentioning it to the rude adventurers, but Haru was friendly, and on top of that he seemed really interested in finding out more before facing the dangers of the Dungeon.

Misha believed that the real risk wasn't in the monsters themselves, but the small amount of information about the Dungeon that caused numerous deaths. In essence, it was the ignorance of the people who, knowing the Dungeon is not too well known, even ignored the information that the guild was willing to release for everyone for their safety, Misha believed that these people didn't really know what they were dealing with.

Haru didn't even think about it. Without hesitation he agreed to take part in these lessons that he would definitely need in the future. Of course he could have taken the books and studied them on his own, but he preferred by far that there was someone competent to explain things that the books usually can't make one understand perfectly, reason of the existence of teachers in his former world.

His acceptance of the request made her smile for what was the second time.

"Only I won't be the one to teach you, but a few colleagues of mine that you'll get to know. The next class will be tomorrow, and then from there every two days there will be another one; Since I signed your contract as an adventurer, I'll be your advisor from now on."

Misha spoke the first and last sentence almost wanting to tease Haru. The thing she liked most was to tease her closest friend, but there were cases where she chose to do the same with the adventurers, and Haru, a boy from what she could read on the sheet two years younger than she was, she couldn't help but tease him a bit.

"..I understand, it will be a pleasure to continue working together..."

Having never had the experience of working with this type of 'consultant' Haru had no idea what he should call her, and since it was more common than it might seem, she sighed having realized that her teasing hadn't worked at all.

'...He doesn't seem embarrassed at all. I could try something more extreme, but it is neither appropriate to the place where we are nor would make much sense, better to leave it alone.'

Although she tended to act in a somewhat less professional way, Misha remained a worker, she couldn't certainly act in a way not appropriate during work, so she decided to postpone her desire to tease him for another day with a sigh.

"..You can call me by first name, The only thing is to pay attention to the honorifics. Since we are about the same age, you may not want to use them, but you wouldn't be seen favourably."

To use the name that had been given at birth without any kind of honorific, for the adventurers present in the Guild meant to court the advisors shamelessly, but since no one wanted to see the cute and charming Guild workers taken away from them, the adventurers tended to hold each other off, and obviously Misha was aware of this.

"...I understand. I'll call you Misha-san. As you pointed out, we seem to have a very similar age, so feel free to call me as you prefer in the same way, I don't know how adventurers would react though if you called my first name without honorifics."

Misha was surprised that Haru had thrown the ball back so naturally that she couldn't hold a giggle.

"...Do your best from now on, Haru-kun. I'll guide you to the best of my abilities."

Emphasizing the honorific she had chosen for him, Misha made her third smile and this time Haru responded with a small one of his own, before heading to Lum and her group.

Staring at his back as Haru had a small conversation with a party, she saw him heading outside alone, and to this she could only hope that Haru would again enter through that same door. Misha usually found talking to adventurers rather tiring, but the conversation with Haru had been interesting, so much so that time had flown by, and in her long career, it was the first time such a case had appeared before her.

'...I truly wish you the best, Haru-kun'

Thinking about this for a few seconds, Misha returned to work with hopes of talking to Haru again building up in her mind.
