1 Prologue

"Kick his ass!"

"Kill that piece of trash"

Late at night the sounds of immature voices could be heard from inside one of the Broken Sky Kingdom's many libraries.

Three youths had ganged up against one.

The youth was outnumbered and without any cultivation he was at a clear disadvantage.

"You damn snitch!" One of the youth's yelled out as he delivered a slap and sent the lone youth flying.

This whole event was occurring because earlier that day these three youth's had tried to steal multiple books and scrolls from the library but it was reported by the lone youth who happened to work at the library. Which resulted in the youth's getting their monthly essence crystals reduced from five crystals a month to one.

The lone youth's name was August Blossom. He was not originally from the Kingdom but was found outside the kingdom in the forest by the librarian who owned this library. He was found alone and had no known relatives. August had no cultivation and was leagues behind other kids in his age group as some of them had already entered the Soul Shattering realm.

"Kill him. If we don't then he'll just snitch again." One of those said. This youth was fat and didn't resemble a cultivator at all. His name was Lucas Snow. His family had a pretty good standing in the Kingdom seeing as though his father was one of the generals under the King.

August only knew the name of this youth because he often came to this library to borrow books and scrolls. The other two were complete strangers to him.

"You're right'." The youth that had delivered the slap replied as a murderous glint appeared in his eyes.

He drew his sword and proceeded towards August who laid sprawled on the floor, his hands tightly clutching the side of his face that had been slapped.

"Hurry up before people come!" The third youth warned. The longer they stayed here the greater the possibility of them getting caught.

The youth with the sword raised it high above August and quickly brought it down.

August's eyes had became tranquil. He was not afraid to die. He had no family, no friends, no purpose. He had never even cultivated. Not because he didn't want to but because he was born with a weak body constitution that can't even handle the Physical Reconstruction realm. So instead he spent his days reading books and scrolls by himself. He would occasionally converse with the librarian but more often than not, his days were spent alone.

"Probably no one will even notice I'm gone." he sighed as he closed his eyes.

*Puchi* The sword went straight through his chest, just missing his heart.

Even though the sword a stabbed through him, August didn't even make the slightest sound.

"Come on, let's go!" Lucas Snow called out

"What if he's not dead yet?" One of the youth's said.

"He's dead, I'm sure and if he's not, then he'll bleed out and die anyway." The youth that had stabbed August said as put his sword away and began running toward the exit with Lucas.

The third youth soon followed suit and they all fled the scene, leaving August laying there in his own pool of blood.

August laid there, still as a statue. From a distance it would seem as though he was already dead but when inspected closer you could notice a faint breath escaping his lips.

The sound of steps could be heard coming toward August. They grew louder and louder until eventually they stopped right next to him.

August struggled to force his eyes open and even with his greatest effort he could only open them slightly.

Even though he could only slightly open his eyes, he was still shocked by who he saw. It was the Librarian.

"August do you think the Heavens are fair?" The Librarian asked as he looked at the dying August.

"No" August once again mustered up all his remaining strength just to say one word. After answering he began to cough up blood as though speaking had worsened his injury.

"Neither do I." The Librarian shook his head.

"Unfortunately only Gods have the power to directly contend against heavens…"

Acknowledging what the Librarian said, August nodded his head before closing his eyes for what he thought would be the last time.

"Break through the curse and shatter the sky August."

This was the last thing August heard before he slipped into a deep sleep. Unsure if he would ever wake up again.
