As the Executor soldiers were surrounding them, Markus once again shot a blackish gray mist from behind the pillar, obscuring everyone's vision.

Elaine predicted this and swung her sword, controlling its string like blade to encircle both Markus and the pillar he was hiding behind from all sides and dissect him but this time she also manipulated some strings to dug into the ground and impale Markus from bellow. A perfect, instant trap.

The mist instantly dispelled and what laid bellow it was revealed, one of the pillars of the temple was divided into multiple neatly sliced pieces and those pieces in turn got shish-kebabed by invisible spikes.
