1 The Lies you learned

"Breaking News" I lied to you. I have superpowers, is what I want to say. The class would laugh at me. The teacher doesn't really care enough to help one student. The good teachers are never the ones you have. School is hell, is what I love to say. Those who step on others are praised, those who are smart are bullied, and the strongest are always on top. I am smart, therefore bullied, stepped on and laughed at. I have no powers so I'm not stronger than others and there is nobody to step on when your alone at the bottom, not that I would step on people.

As I get home I am greeted with a sudden impact on my right cheek, followed by the warm tingle afterwards. My guardians or my "parents", adopted me after my 18 year old sister filed a child protective services complaint that my parents weren't treating me well. Despite it being a lie, I was still separated from them and put into foster care. The system has a good way of taking people away from good family and giving you up to maniacs. It's been three years since then. Ive been through 6 houses but they all have me up because I have no powers. The ones I have now care Even less, they use me as a training dummy for their other adopted son, who coincidentally has the power super strength. They hope he becomes a super hero who will save the world. I am just a punching bag to my family.

Reality. Is. Harsh.

Sometimes I wish the world had no superpowers, maybe we wouldn't have injustice, maybe we would all be on the same floor, we could live together, happier without the lens of worth based on our abilities. If only a world like that existed. Then I would live there, with my father and mother. Before my life was flipped. I could have the life I've always dreamed of. No longer needing heroes to save us everyday, we could all be a united world.

No wars. No pain. A nice life.

Maybe I would open a convenience store. The ability to sell cheap items for a living thrilled me, there are so many people that would come in, maybe I could find friends. Maybe I wouldn't be lonely anymore.

As the doorbell rings, I wake up.

School is over, I slept through the entire class because I couldn't get any sleep last night, or any night. Because I work as a mercenary for the government. So I never sleep.

I can manipulate mater in any way I want. I can change its element, destroy it, anything I can imagine I can do. I break all laws that the world is built on. Physics is useless for me. Its limited to a range of 5 meters in each direction. If I created a bullet and shot it, as soon as it leaves my radius I can no longer modify it, it still will exist. This is a great asset for the government, so this allows me to be their tool. I can even remember the first time they offered me the opportunity. "This is a once in a lifetime opportunity young man, why this would allow you to finally get the glory you deserve", the agent was very persistent. I don't actually care about being popular or having money. I want happiness. But would being a hero give me that.
