The Unique Spells

Sofya looked at Cain with incredulity who didn't return the gesture. His sights never left the creature right in front of him. Her eyes lost their color as she slumped to the ground, joining her best friend in the afterlife.

Meanwhile Cain didn't dally as he went full power from the onset. His height increased as the markings appeared on his body once more. His eyes turned black as he activated his iron bloodline. Using his [Nano-Void Projection], his whole body became encased in a black wispy layer adding another toughness to it.

His height now was three meters as he floated in the air using [Void Manipulation]. It all happened in the blink of an eye as the energy he emitted became frightening. The beast growled at him but exercised caution. It didn't take one step forward.

'It's gauging my strength. Most likely, it's thinking of backing off,' he judged. 'It's probably confident of its speed, judging from how fast it killed the man.' Using his [Ultrascan] and [Supercomputing], even the slightest movements failed to escape his eyes as he analysed the creature.

But Cain wasn't planning on letting it off as he stretched his arm, making a quick circular gesture and spread his fingers. A black spell circle comprising many layers with golden runic symbols all over manifested in front of his palm. Each layer rotated differently as his darkness element powered it.

[Void Ceremony]

His unique spell was cast. It kept sucking his energy as the surrounding space changed. The flow of gravity became different as it increased by more than ten fold. The void became much more condensed as it became thicker. Any movement within this space was harshly reduced with Cain being the sole exception.

Cain's thought process in designing the spell was simple: 'aid and deprive'. It would aid his already strong void manipulating powers while depriving others of such luxury. Although it sounded simple, it was far from it as it became visible when the beast buckled under the pressure.

Capitalizing on his spell, Cain dashed forward. Reaching in front of the beast as he floated, he pulled his right arm back and delivered a punch. It was heavy, however there was silence. Sound itself seemed to be absent in this space. His pitch black knuckles met the furry surface of the beast but all it did was dent it a little. The owlbear was pushed back some distance but glared at Cain.

'Such tough skin.' Cain thought. Even with his peak stage body covered in his projection ability, all it did was dent. One should know, this would have killed the beast he fought in the outer circle instantly.

The owlbear then immediately stretched its claws and swiped down at Cain's direction. Although Cain was away from the reach of the claws, he felt extreme danger.

Immediately, he used another of his original abilities as he activated [Black Hole] and aimed it at the space just above his head. It was instinctual but it was the right choice as he saw a bluish manifestation of the claw appearing over his head.

However, his black hole acted promptly and sucked it in, completely negating the attack. Once he was past that, Cain looked at the beast with a slight furrow.

'What was that? It's not a void or space related ability considering my spell is in effect.' his mind worked superfast as his supercomputing took effect.

However while thinking, he didn't waste any time and attacked as well, taking note of the beast's strange ability.

The beast however seemed a little furious as it missed its sneak attack and so it growled again — in silence — and tried to rush at Cain but its speed was drastically reduced. Realising its predicament, its body began to blend with the space itself but it was a tad too late as Cain was already above it; descending with a ruthless kick.

The kick landed on the left arm of the beast as it shielded its head. However, even the beast didn't expect its left arm to be separated into two. The top half fell soundlessly to the floor as bluish colored blood gushed down like a waterfall.

The beast opened its large hooked beak in a show of loud scream but no sound came out. Only silence prevailed. The beast suffered in pain as it looked at its arm and back at Cain with eyes filled with immense anger.

Cain however was happy with that kick, it was his [Dominion Combat: Second Movement - Shadow Kick]. His mind kept on thinking and calculating, using both his ultrascan and supercomputing abilities to figure out the powers of the beast.

But that didn't prevent him from attacking as he went forward again to capitalise on his earlier strike.

The beast glared at Cain, ignoring all the pain it was feeling as its body immediately became translucent and blended with the surrounding space. This time it was faster than before, all happening in a matter of seconds.

Cain saw this and was fast approaching, still he was prepared for it as he immediately activated his black hole. Inwardly however, he was still trying to figure out its ability. He couldn't see the creature but through the void, he felt its movements as he aimed at its direction.

The black hole sucked in the space at which Cain perceived the beast to be. But to his slight astonishment, the beast appeared just right in front of him in an imposing manner and slapped him away.

His body was immediately slammed to the ground. Although there was no sound, Cain felt his spine shatter from the impact, along with most of his ribs. However, it began to form almost immediately.

'Just what is its ability? It can blend with its surroundings and create an apparition of itself or its attacks, almost like a…' his thoughts paused for an instant. With raised brows, he had an epiphany, suddenly feeling stupid. 'Of course that's what it was, a mirror based ability which grants it powers of illusion and reflection.'

Coming to a conclusion of his thoughts which were in less than a second, he saw the beast descending its foot on him; with the intention of crushing his body completely.

Luckily, his spine had healed a little so he rolled swiftly to the side, avoiding the stomp. Now that he knew the ability of the beast, he could now use his second spell with confidence. However, he had to deactivate the current spell first.

He forced himself to stand up as he put some distance between the beast and himself. Although his speed was affected due to his healing spine, he was like a fish in water. This space was his home and playground.

Besides, he didn't want to be too close to the beast once he activated his second spell. The beast however gave chase and kept using its mirror ability to attack and draw closer to him. However Cain now knew its pattern of attack so it became easier for him to dodge.

He was now truly displaying the prowess of a mage as he dodged continuously, not allowing a single hit to land on him. Once he dodged another claw apparition and felt that he was a little safe, he deactivated the spell.

The beast rejoiced, thinking its efforts had paid off and rushed at Cain again, however his hands were faster as he casted the [Black Funeral] spell.

A large spell circle with many layers consisting of runic symbols and a pentagram within manifested in front of his palm. It was black in colour but the runes shone in an ominous blood red colour.

Just like his first spell, each layer rotated differently. The pentagram however rotated much slower than the rest, visible to the naked eye. The spell circle looked eerie and dark as a constriction could be felt surrounding the spell circle.

Before the beast could launch another attack at Cain, a towering black coffin materialised in the air in front of it. It had numerous red colored runic symbols scattered all over like chains on it. Its edges were bladed and had a silver shine to it.

The coffin opened right in front of the beast and captured it swiftly before it shut tight. There was a complete silence. About five seconds later, it opened again and dispersed like it was never there.

However, the beast wasn't in good shape. Its whole body was twisted strangely, from the head down to its legs. Its eyes were open but were a dead white, no life could be seen in them. With a loud thump, the beast landed on the ground. A most thorough death.

Cain saw this but was expressionless. It was his strongest spell and he knew its capabilities so it wasn't surprising to him. However right now, all he could think of was his blood element.

Looking at the large creature in front of him coupled with the other late stage monster and the two dead mages, he couldn't help but smile a little.

"Let's see what surprises this blood element has in store for me."

Hello readers. Had to explain the spell casting process in great detail to avoid doing so in future chapters.

Once again, thanks for reading.
