15 Chapter 14

Alibaba P.O.V. 1st Person

We went ahead and set up in a small cave. Pulling out some of the food we brought. Aladdin quickly gorged himself on the goods. It was only as I started to bite into my second bread that I noticed he was already done, "There's more if you want!"

"Thanks, but I'm fine for now. I'm gonna take a nap." With that he fell asleep.

"Yeah, go ahead! Sleep!" I blurted, though he was already out. He must've been really exhausted. There were some things I still wanted to ask him.

"Hey.. Aladdin?" He was completely unconscious. "Did I.. push you too hard? You don't have to pretend to be alright. I mean.. we're friends, right?" I realized then that if another monster came to attack we'd be in deep trouble. I didn't have any kind of power to fight them. I wasn't anyone grand with any special abilities.

Unfortunately for me, it wouldn't be the type of monster I was expecting.

I glanced around us, trying to find a good place to set up camp. Getting to work I laid out a blanket and lay Aladdin on it. He was in such a deep sleep but the ceiling was leaking. I took another blanket and hung it over him to block the water flow. Packing our food and supplies away and setting up our lanterns, I finished up the last bit of work. I slipped my shoes off and sat down next to him before taking a deep gulp of water. Now I was starting to feel tired, but I needed to keep watch. 'We should be safe over here, the only entrance is that tunnel so as long as I watch it we should be fine. Figure it's the least I can do after all his help.' I didn't realize anyone had followed us in here either, but you never knew what a dungeon had in store.

I glanced back at Aladdin, he looked like a small child with a fever. I really hoped he'd be okay. I picked up his flute, maybe I could blow it? I could give power where he could not. I was still okay, so maybe I could lend it my strength to him.

I felt my heart race as I hesitated, finally gathering the courage to try it out. Nothing happened and no sound came out. "What? How come he can blow it, but I can't?" I mumbled before noticing a strange engraving on the flute. "What's this mark?" What language was this? I wondered where he was from and what his family was like. He was so young, and he hadn't said anything about his parents. Now that I think of it, I didn't know anything about him. But then I hadn't told him much about myself either. Your parents and your goals aren't something you blab to just anyone. But he'd done so much for me, so I should tell him about myself. 'I'll talk to him when he wakes up. I'm sure we'll both learn a lot of things about the other. You can't capture a dungeon alone after all.'

But soon I would also drift into sleep, forgetting about keeping watch. Because neither of us would have expected the monster looking for us.
