Chapter 39. The kobold kingdom

Three years after the establishment of the Dark dawn guild.

It was a busy morning with hundreds of students going to attend their free classes. One of these students was an acolyte named Karl, he was at rank 3 with grade 5 aptitude and a genius in the field of formations.

His sister, Hannah, was just a little less of a genius than him, but her relationship with her brother gave her a good enough reputation.

Entering the class, Karl's eyes darted around and soon stumbled upon a girl with curly hair and green eyes.

"Brother, you're late again today." Hannah reprimanded him as soon as she saw him. She thought he wouldn't come to the class today.

"Well, the lecture hasn't started yet." Karl said calmly as he sat beside Hannah.

"By the way, How long do you think you'd need to become an official magus?"

"I think I can become one within the 5-year time." He answered with conviction.

"I see." Hannah didn't say much in return as she sat down and looked at the puppet in front of the class.

It was an alchemical puppet created by the leader of the dark dawn guild. This puppet would become active by itself when it was the time of the lecture.

Although it could fill in for a professor, but since it was a puppet, it couldn't answer any questions the acolytes had. So, they needed to help each other on multiple occasions.

Within these three years, aside from the time when orphans were recruited from the secret plane, no new acolyte had entered the guild, which caused all of them to know more about each other.

Some older students even advanced to official magus rank, and got the second level of their corresponding meditation technique.

Now the dark dawn guild had become a peak small-scale guild and was on its way to become a mid-scale guild.

There were now a total of 40 official magi in the guild.

Although most of them didn't have any kind of friendship with each other, but at least everyone knew each other's names.

"The time of the lecture has started. In today's class, we will study hematology…" The alchemical puppet started giving the lecture and the class was filled with its heavy voice.

….

In the headquarters, the main hall.

Tirus was sitting comfortably on his chair.

"So, have you collected enough information about the kobold kingdom?"

"Yes, the kingdom is situated between the northern and eastern twilight zone. It is a small kingdom with a rank 3 kobold magi as their leader. But his power has been reduced quite a lot due to past injuries." Beth gave Tirus the information she had gathered in the past few months.

After he stabilized the situation of the guild, Tirus found out that there were actually kobolds existing in the twilight zone. At first, he was perplexed but then he remembered that he was reincarnated 3,000 years before the story of the canon started.

So it only made sense if some things were different in the current times.

"So, Tirus, are we going to attack the kingdom?" Beth asked with worry written all over her face.

"No, their leader is a rank 3 magi, there's no way I'd win. But we can secretly attack and capture a few hundred of them, that'd be enough." He replied.

No matter how strong one was in their rank, they couldn't just fight an enemy of higher rank and expect to win.

"What do you plan to do with them?" She asked, to which Tirus replied, "You will know when the time comes."

He kept looking at her and mentally said,

'A.I. chip, scan.'

[Beep]

[Name: Beth, occupation: rank 1 magus strength: 7.8, agility: 8.3, vitality: 13.2, spiritual force: 61.7, Elemental essence conversion rate: 52% (spiritual force is in sync with magic power)]

'Her cultivation sure hasn't made much progress, huh, perhaps I should give her some time alone for cultivation.'

….

In a small kingdom of Kobolds between the northern and eastern Twilight Zone.

There was a small kobold village in the kingdom, hundreds of kobolds lived in that village.

The kobolds are said to reach a height of 3 feet (0.91 m) (around 1 meter) upon maturity, and their outer appearance is characterized by a scaly skin which can range from a dark reddish-brown to a faded black. There are two taupe horns on the crowns of their heads, and their fiery red eyes possess infrared vision.

Furthermore, they can obtain spells through their bloodline and become an expert—similar to that of a Bloodline Warlock.

It was rumored that they were a subspecies of the dragon race and were related to the ancient red fiery dragons. A rank 5 creatures.

Tirus knew this because he had read the canon and, thus, wanted to extract the ancient bloodline from them. The bloodline he could get from these kobolds were of rank 5.

Extracting the ancient bloodline from just a few hundred kobolds was unrealistic, but he could store them in the secret plane and let their population grow as much as he wanted to, and then use them for experiments and creation of a rank 5 bloodline warlock.

"We are ready, master." Beth said in a low voice while holding an eyeball like crystal in her hands, he didn't come here personally, but had sent an artificial, magical eyeball which could be used to gather intel.

He was a rank 2 magi, forget about Twilight Zone, even if he went to the central continent right now, he would be considered a figure of importance.

"Good. Now, complete the mission, and avoid making a scene. Attack several villages, kidnap at least 800 kobolds. Be sure to capture equal amounts of male and female ones." Tirus instructed as he ended the transmission.

"... Attack!" Beth ordered the magi that came with her to attack the village soon after the voice transmission ended.

After a few hours, they completed the task without making a big scene and returned to the guild after making sure that they didn't leave any traces behind.

To be continued...
