17 Terms Of Service

Clavina dressed herself in clothing that was from earth, a smooth white undershirt with a blouse, and pants that are made out of cotton denim which the soldiers had no idea about what it was besides that it was made from cotton, she looked at herself in the mirror and admired the upgrade from the simple cloth dress she had been provided when she was resurrected and started to brush her hair the way she has been taught by some of the female personnel and hummed to herself a tune.

She contemplated her time here back on the world, the time she spent meditating near one of the ruined shrines to her and her sisters how everything was so silent and almost dead. There was a reason for it, the new church of the king placed warding spells around the area of the old shrines as she discovered when she activated an explosive ward on her way out. It inflicted damage on her legs but they healed slowly.

Healing, it was a ability of the gods that are powered by faith, they used to be almost invincible but the mass slaughter of their followers weakened them and eventually brought them their demise.

She stared at herself, locking in to her own dark brown eyes, she looked like a 12 year old but she was the resurrection of an ancient being that existed at the start of the Valecan civilization 3000 years ago. She doesn't remember all of the things about her previous self but she was given knowledge that 'all she needs to know' from her manifestation in the ethereal realm.

She doesn't know much about the ethereal realm besides that it is where her kind, the gods, come from no matter what religion or culture they are and it is the place where the souls of the dead come to as energy for new gods to assimilate according to legend.

She was broken out of her trance when a knock came from her door.

"Miss night? they are waiting for you." Anton's voice sounded.

Night, that what she picked as her last name after it caused some complications regarding paperwork. She chose that name in honor of her soon-to-be resurrected sisters.

She was probably resurrected first as she is the youngest and would take less ethereal energy to resurrect.... or maybe it was just blind chance, she doesn't know.

Standing up, she walked slowly to the door of her room and opened it, she was greeted by Anton who stood by the door.

After debriefing Clavina the brass assigned me and my team to guard her and be her general guide about the things and also her translator when she talks to other personnel who cant speak much Valecan.

Clavina stepped out of her room and looked at his service uniform and specifically these things they called 'ribbons' though they dont look anything like it.

"Lets go we wouldn't want to keep them waiting." I motioned down the hallway for her to follow me.

"M hm, what is that you're wearing? It looks so different from the rest of what I saw." Clavina asked.

"This is the army service uniform its usually used for formal occasions and ceremonies." Anton answered.

"And if I recall correctly there are five branches- an odd name to call it- in your military."

"Yes, the army, navy, marines and the coast guard."

"And the last one isn't considered a 'real' branch?"

This got out a chuckle from Anton.

"Ha, they're a real branch but they get bullied mercilessly because that's how brotherhood in the military is."

"M hm, reminds me, have you thought about our contract?"

"Oh you mean about being your champion?"

"Mhm."

"Well I can't just really agree to it without knowing what it is all about."

"Well, you don't have a choice anyway we had a deal remember?"

"Right, and I'm a man of my word."

"Good."

"But I still want to know what it's all about though before signing up."

"Ugh, fine." Clavina cleared her throat before she started explaining.

"Being a champion of a god grants you immortality and will enhance your speed, strength and so on as long as the god that you are the champion for is able to support you. And I've thought about you and your oath to your country so before you ask, no i wont have you break your oath but you will have to stay here and travel with me."

"It seems like I have to talk to the commander about giving me a permanent assignment here."

"You should, and I will talk to him himself if he refuses."

Anton looked thoughtful for a moment and then asked.

"Hm, I have a question."

"What is it?"

"In our world gods are usually portrayed as arrogant and filled with ego, usually due to their tremendous amount of power but you are different."

Clavina snorted. "You just described most of the Elven gods. Those pointed-eared gold-garmented princesses are the epitome of over swelling ego and arrogance."

"The elves from the eastern continent?"

"Yes, and to answer your other question I'm not acting the way you described me to be because that's just not me."

"Says the girl with a short temper." Anton teased.

She turned her head and pouted. "Fuck you as you earthlings say."

Anton chuckled.

"But seriously though, us gods have our own personalities like, If I remember correctly the elven equivalent of me and my sisters, Jenea, likes to blend in with mortals and gossip with them about court intrigue."

"And what's your personality?" Anton asked.

Clavina gave out a laugh. "That's for you to find out Anton!"

They reached the door to the lobby and before Anton opened the door he looked back at Clavina.

"Well maybe we could discuss the contract about me with the president further hm?"

Clavina smiled, he is considering it after all.
