5 {Arc 1} Part 4: Main Leads Confronting
"So, how old are you, Xie Ye?" Gu Sha asked.
"I will be 17 soon." Xin Ying replied. If the way time flows here is the same as it does back in his home world, then yes, he would be 17 soon...
"Wow! What a coincident! I'm 21 and my birthday's coming up soon as well!" Gu Sha happily chatted with him.
Xin Ying nodded his head in acknowledgement. Despite the fact that he was expressionless, that action make him seem quite cute and innocent. (After all, as the MC of a novel like this, his looks are definitely good—look at this tiny fourth wall break...uwu)
Gu Sha smiled even more brilliantly and her chatter increased as well. He's...so cute! Her heart went: (>w<)
Jin Fei smiled softly as she watch them interact. She joined their conversation for a while before leaving to go down to the public area where the others are.
The soft smile quickly dissolved when she turned around after closing the door to the three's shared room.
It was Lei Ziyuan. He was waiting in front of their room door.
The three teams that met outside are not the only ones in the hotel, but they are the most organized ones. The other people are mostly guests that stayed in the hotel before the first day, but there are some that came here for refuge from the zombies.
The hotel has five floors. The 1st floor (ground floor) is where the main lobby and dining area are at. The 2nd floor is occupied by Lei Ziyuan's team and some other guests. The 3rd floor is occupied by Jin Fei, Gu Sha, Xin Ying, Peng Jiren, Shen Yu, and the other members of their team. The 4th floor doesn't have any residents, since it is currently used to store the hotel's supplies.
According to the lady at the front counter, the 4th floor used to be opened for guests, but they closed it off when they heard about the apocalypse and quickly took half the supplies from the hotel's warehouse and put them on the fourth floor.
The hotel has stairs and elevators, their room is right in the middle of the floor while the stairs and elevators are at the side. That means Lei Ziyuan is definitely not just passing by...
"What do you want?" Jin Fei asked, her eyes darkened as she notice that Lei Ziyuan has a bag in his back. He could have weapons, so she must be careful. She had left her bag in the room, but going back in there right now is not a good choice.
"Relax~ How could I bear doing anything to a beauty like you?" Charming smile, warm eyes. If it was any other person who don't know any better, they would have fallen for his tricks!
Jin Fei is a cautious woman, and while her current strength is not exactly up to par with Lei Ziyuan, she's confident in getting out of this situation...but the problem is that Lei Ziyuan may become hostile and harm Gu Sha and Xie Ye...it is best to not cause a commotion, there are too many risks.
"Spill, I have places to be." Jin Fei decided to play along—for now that is.
"I have an offer." He's sly like a fox, but hiding it with that gentleman smile.
It's not like she'll ever fall for it, but Jin Fei feel disgusted by that. Just who is this man? Could he be...or is she just thinking too much? Thoughts run wild in her head. "What?"
"Why don't both of our groups team up?" Jin Fei was about to retort, but Lei Ziyuan spoke again, his voice lacing with even more charm. "Now, now, you probably want to reject my offer like Miss Xie did, but think about it. It's the beginning of a zombie apocalypse, most dangers are still unknown right now. You don't have to decided immediately, but let me know your response when the time comes."
He quickly placed a hand on her waist and before she come to her senses, Lei Ziyuan spin her around a few times. The man then let go of her just as fast as he had held onto her, bowed, and then walked away silently, his steps even and calm. He even gave a wink as he turn to leave.
This...
This man is a total scum.
Jin Fei only came back to her senses when the man had let go of her. Although she didn't chase after him when he walked away, she did continue to glare cautiously at him.
'That man...is dangerous...maybe my suspicions were right...he is the target. The description fits him, not 100%, but at least 88%. He...is skilled. And quite...no...very professional. Eliminating him will be...a bit difficult. But it's not impossible.'
She just have to do it at the right time.
The ones to be cautious of aren't the ones who openly show their true nature, it's the ones who can hide their inner self that are dangerous.
And Lei Ziyuan... while he is not exactly a wolf in sheep clothing, he act like a well mannered gentleman. Someone who seem intelligent and has morals. It's a fitting disguise for someone like him.
Jin Fei shook away those thoughts and went down to lobby.
Jin Fei is a young, but skilled, assassin.
And she's an assassin that has her own morale codes and conditions to carry out assassinations. She had never failed any of her assassination, other than the few that does not match with her conditions. Jin Fei may be cold most of the time, but under that facade is a caring heart.
Lei Ziyuan may seem to be a gentleman, but he's far from what he appears to be.
If Jin Fei's suspicions are correct, then that means...he's a monster.
Her target this time is a serial killer who had killed quite a number of people. She had studied the documents from her client, and from what she saw, this target is intelligent and careful....and also have questioning morals and mentality.
The killer even gave himself an alias...LEZ.
Jin Fei would not hesitate to kill Lei Ziyuan. Even if it turns out that he is not her target, the fact that he is more than 80% similar to LEZ is already a big red flag.
Xin Ying watched the two main leads' confrontation from the system panel. Gu Sha already went to sleep, she and Jin Fei had traveled for quite a while to get to this place. The two had traveled from their college, which was miles away, all the way to this hotel. The sun was quite scorching earlier too, so it's not a surprise that she's tired enough to rest so soon despite how lively she is usually. Jin Fei is the abnormal one who still had the energy to walk around at this hour.
Lei Ziyuan is indeed Jin Fei's target.
Lei Ziyuan can be pretty much placed in the 'psychopath' category. That was partly why Xin Lin had trouble dealing with him...he had seen through the player's tricks and motives...so defeating him to get the betrayal ending was really a challenge for her. Oh, and about the other endings...well, they weren't exactly simple to get either. According to the "Varieties Of Scenarios" players' forum, the most common ending people got for this world is the default "Just Dead" ending.
'Well, it doesn't seem like anything else will be happening today. I might as well go off to dreamland as well.' Xin Ying thought and went to brush his teeth before tucking in for the night like Gu Sha.

"What a beautiful world~" A dark purple haired Loli lamented cheerfully, her bright starry blue eyes staring dreamingly at the stars.
"Hey? Are you fine in the head right now?" A messy haired man wearing military clothes asked her, flicking her forehead.
"Hey! You didn't have to do that! And ah yes, why my of course I am~" The Loli scowled before switching back to her previous mood.
"I don't think so, but, whatever you say." The man grunted before looking up at the sky decorated with glowing stars as well.
"Heh heh..." The Loli giggled, then continue to look at everything around her.
'It really is real...haha....amazing!'
