Transmigrated

Everything was pitch black. I tried to move my body. Suddenly I experienced a feeling of falling followed by a blunt pain.

I blinked a few times, but the surroundings stayed dark. I slowly stood up, using the wall as a support.

"Who turned off the light?" I asked myself out loud.

"Day mode on" a robotic female voice replied.

I jumped up in surprise. Something strange was going on.

"Good morning, Elijah," the robotic voice continued.

The lights slowly became brighter giving my eyes enough time to adjust.

I was standing in a small room with gray metal walls that were giving off a futuristic feel. The room was illuminated by a few windows. Behind the windows was endless whiteness. Looking into the distance through the windows made me feel a weird sense of alienation. I glanced around the room. The room contained no furniture apart from the bed that was extended out of the wall.

I stepped away from the wall and watched with a surprised expression on my face as the bed disappeared by merging with the lusterless metal wall.

I glanced around the room again and approached one of the windows. I tapped the window with my index finger. The window felt cold and metallic, completely unlike glass.

"Do you want to change the view?" the robotic voice asked.

"Can you make it a mirror?" I asked.

The window rippled and turned into a mirror, reflecting my figure.

I gasped in shock.

The person in the mirror clearly wasn't me. It was an average-looking boy with black hair and obsidian black eyes. His complexion was unusually pale. The boy looked so average that you would forget his face the moment you turned away. He was dressed in a red nightgown, his hair was messy, and a surprised expression was painting his face.

"Who am I?" I asked myself.

A searing pain invaded my head, giving me the answer to my question. I could feel foreign memories flowing into my head. The headache was so bad that I screamed in pain and tears streaked from my eyes.

"Damn, why does this have to hurt so much."

I fell on my knees while holding my head in my hands.

After about a minute the pain subsided. I had just had just experienced my entire life in a minute or more precisely Elijah's life.

"Do you need help?" the AI assistant asked.

"What is going on? Why do I possess memories that aren't mine?" I mumbled, ignoring the robotic voice.

Did I perhaps transmigrate? That would explain the headache and the memories. But how and more importantly why?

I had lived an unremarkable life as a high school student before this. I spent my days reading novels and playing video games. My grades were average, and I didn't have any siblings or many friends. I don't remember provoking any god or encountering anything supernatural.

Now that I remember my previous life, I realize that I have very little attachment to my previous world. I shouldn't be able to get over this so quickly but to be completely honest I was sick of that life. I should be able to start anew here.

First I should check where the hell I ended up.

The last memory I have is me replaying a sci-fi open-world RPG game. The game revolved around a main character who lost his parents in the previous planetary war. He made a vow to kill all the aliens and take revenge for his parents' death.

I stepped towards one of the walls and tapped twice in a certain spot. The wall opened revealing a pile of clothes and other necessities. I rummaged through the clothes until I found what I was looking for.

I pulled out an inconspicuous-looking tablet and pressed my finger onto it. The tablet displayed a line of blue characters on a black background.

"Scanning."

"System online."

I swiped up and observed the words that were displayed.

Name: Elijah Royale

Race: Human

Age: 16

Physique: Iron II (Potential: Platinum)

Aether Core: Iron III (Potential: Gold)

Mental fortitude: Gold

Status: Healthy

"This confirms it. I was transmigrated into that game and not as any of the main characters but as an unrecorded extra. At least my name didn't change."

I am not exactly happy about this. The game has a horrible ending no matter what choices you pick and pretty much the whole cast dies by the end.

"What horrible luck. Just what did I do to deserve this? I thought I'd get to live an easy life for once. "

I thought back to my last moments before transmigration. I remember playing the game until I couldn't force my eyes to stay open anymore. I was searching for the last hidden piece because the game studio offered a reward for the person who first gets the hidden ending and I thought that collecting all the easter eggs and hidden pieces would lead me to the secret ending.

Well, it's not like I have any degree of control over the situation. I should just accept my new reality. I am a calm and laid-back person and not everything about this situation is bad.

I was transmigrated into the body of Elijah Royale. A noble from a house on the verge of bankruptcy. Despite being an only child and an heir, his parents never pushed their frustrations onto him. He was born with mediocre talent, but his parents didn't seem to care. They decided to give him the best possible chance for success in life, regardless of the family's financial situation. His parents used the last of their funds to pay his tuition so that he was able to enter the Athera Military Academy where the first part of the story takes place.

The Athera Military Academy was an academy meant for the rich and nobles. It was the most prestigious institution on the planet. The cadets that graduated there had the highest survival rate of any soldier and would usually become generals or special ops commanders.

In this world, everyone with an Aether core potential of Silver or higher was required to enlist in the United Army for a year after finishing general education. This was because humanity was under the threat of extinction by aliens that arrived on this planet years ago. In the game, there are multiple routes you can take toward your goal of defeating the alien race that is besieging humanity's corner of the galaxy.

The aliens call themselves Slarians. The day they arrived was known as A-day. Suddenly hundreds of spaceships appeared on the planet and thousands of people died in the bombardment that preceded the invasion and millions more in the actual invasion.

The aliens managed to conquer most of the planet. However, most of the land they conquered was now filled with scorched nuclear wastelands that were the result of a century of fighting. Blue planet-03 turned into a warzone.

"The issue of how I am going to survive this story's ending is still unresolved. However, that event is still years ahead. Right now, I should focus on surviving the first part of the story."

"Should I maybe steal a cheat or two from the main character?" I asked myself.

"I mean, he is going to die either way, so I don't see any problem with exploiting my knowledge as much as possible. Any butterfly effects that happen as a result should be mostly positive."

At that moment I heard the doorbell ring.

I had a visitor.
