1 Where am I?

My eyes refused to open as I laid on the soft ground. The grass didn't bite at me like it usually does and instead caressed me as if it were a soft blanket. Birds chirped and the sky was clear. I could feel the world around me move as if I was one with it. I slowly got up my head foggy. I was a little dizzy as I tried to stand up and felt off.

Where am I?

This didn't look like the usual path home. I knew I stopped to take a break in the park but I don't remember it looking like this. If anything it was darker and not as... cheery as what I'm seeing now. The clearing I was in felt more alive then any place I've ever been in. It was like something was deep inside here that had great power. It felt exuberant as if it was happy to see me here.

That was very strange.

I went to run a hand through my hair when something felt off. This time it was about myself. I patted my hands all over my body and couldn't help but feel completely different.

This wasn't me.

I ran to the nearby pond that I woke up next to and leaned forward to look at my reflection. I let out a little Yelp at what I saw. I was definitely not myself. I had long hair. And the weirdest part was it was a natural pink. Not my usual iffy brown color. And I had short hair so to see it touch my legs was scary. My face was more round and smooth. And I have bright green eyes with gold flecks in them.

I lightly touched my face when I heard the snap of a branch behind me. I quickly looked around and felt my heart speed up.

Then it hit me.

I'm in a new place in a new body with nothing on me. Nothing but this loose white dress that was surprisingly clean for having woken up on the ground.

"H-hello?"

I mentally slapped myself for speaking. What if they didn't speak English? What if they had bad intentions? Or worse, what if it was like a bear or something.

I was scaring myself more. I couldn't move. I was stuck.

Then a man stepped out in odd clothing. He held a bow and with an arrow readied up pointing at me. His ears were pointy too.

Wait, pointy?

I leaned forward to try and get a better look but was soon yelled at.

"Don't move!"

Oh good. I understand him.

His voice was deep but as if it was still developing. With that information I assumed he was around my age.

He took a step closer.

Now let's hope he understands me.

"Um h-hello?"

"I didn't give you permission to speak!"

I jumped at him yelling at me yet again and almost fell into the pond behind me. He stayed in place as he looked at me up and down as if trying to figure me out.

"Who are you?"

"I-Isabelle..." I muttered out scared for my life. I could die here. And I wouldn't even know why.

He scrunched up his nose at my name.

"What are you doing here?"

I looked at him dumbfounded. How was I supposed to answer this? Sorry I woke up here? Oh, by the way, where exactly is here? Like he would believe me.

"Answer me!"

"I-I don't know!" I stuttered out feeling tears creeping into the corner of my eyes. I hate being yelled at. It freaks me out.

"What do you mean, you don't know? No one can wonder into the dark forest just like that."

Dark forest? It seems pretty bright to me.

I must have had a dumb look on my face when he rolled his eyes and lower his bow a little.

"This is my forest. Get out before I kill you."

"Oh wow scary."

Did I just say that out loud?

Anger burned in his eyes as he readied up the bow and looked as if he was about to shoot me.

Great. Just great.

He released without any warning and I felt the world around me slow down. I watched the arrow approach me like a lion approaching it's prey.

Instinctively I moved my arms up and closed my eyes tightly as of that would help the pain about to come to me.

But nothing came.
