2 Shattered (2)

I continued to move my head while the symbol just keeps following my field of vision. I looked up the symbol goes up, sideways and it still the same result, it seems to be stuck forever in my peripheral vision. No matter what I do, even to the point of covering my own eyes it still stays there permanently.

I climbed up one of the huge trees and lied my back on it. I started to reorganize my thoughts.

Several minutes have passed and I think I have understood what is going on. I was from another world, I died and fortunately I was lucky enough to have traveled to this world. In the process of doing that, unfortunately, I lost my memories. I didn't just lose my memory, what blanks I had in the memories were filled with the memories of this body I was inhabiting.

Even when there is a temporary fix there were still blank spaces. What was my true name and the people who I held dear to me in the last world? What were my ambition and aspiration?

Strangely enough, I still remember my hobby and some other miscellaneous memories I learned throughout life. This includes my personality but it may have been mixed a bit with the personality of the body's previous owner. I also inherit a small percentage of their memory like languages but I don't know even have a clue to the topography to which I am on or anywhere exactly or what can exist in this world. I stared at the ruins of the flora, and I was clueless toward what has caused the destruction behind him.

It was like life has played a trick on little old me. A magic trick so phenomenal my death result in me being isekai'd into another world. I remember from my previous life that I didn't want to die yet.

I shifted my focus on the snake symbol in my vision. I was curious if I got a cheat after being reincarnated. This appeared unexpectedly and maybe knowing more about it could cause me to know of my origin. I did what any other web novel character would do and I try to focus my mind on the symbol. Well here goes nothing

"Open sesame!"

Woah I didn't really know I actually had cheats come with me toward this world too. I remember I always use to play the support role in MOBA and MMO and now I am still stuck with playing support. Well, beggars can't be chooser. It was not like I have the power to dictate what I got and have. Unlike a certain someone from a novel I read, I certainly did not get accused of sexual assault in this world. There could have been worse starts.

If this is a new world and a new body and since I have no recollection of names I guess I just have to make one. An alias perhaps, unknown threats lurk here and my true name could be used against me. In certain myths and entertainment material names can be used as a basis of a curse.

I shall call myself Lux. I derive it from the Latin word for support Auxilum. I haven't thought of a full name yet as I am terrible in naming.

I scanned my surroundings once again and felt hopeless to which direction should I be going in. Certainly, I was not going to walk towards the land of death behind me. I searched around for a large flat rock along with the bent stick. I laid the rock down and spin my stick. This was to emulate the spinning bottle game back in middle school.

Whichever direction the sharp end of the sticks point towards I was going in that direction. I considered myself a pretty lucky person. On the last day of a deadline at schools, I always have a period of time to finish my work. Whether it is during break or lunchtime or when the teacher was substituted for those days. This is one of the reasons why I nearly never missed overdue homework. This luck streak backfire on the last few days of school as I always seem to miss the end of the year party due to some mysterious high fever.

The stick kept spinning until it stops and points at the direction of the wasteland. I shook my head and convinced myself I must have made the wrong mistake. I spun the sticks again. This time it stopped on the same spot. I make an X symbol with my arms.

"No way, I don't have a death wish yet. There is no freaking way I'm entering and walking towards that direction!"

I threw the stick away and found a replacement. I did a praying motion for good luck and proceeded to spin the stick. It pointed toward the same direction.

"I must have used up all my luck so far to get these cheats, I was reminded that overconfidence is a slow and insidious killer."

I picked up the stick and snapped it in two.

I left the area alone and enter the dense forest continuing in a random direction I had chosen. The travel was interrupted by my grumbling stomach.

"Oh, I forgot I haven't eaten anything yet. The forest is full of food right!?"

As I asked that question the realization made me panic a little. It should be fine I guess. I needed to stay optimistic, if I lost hope than chances are that I will not achieve my goal. In a psychology studies shows that believing in a goal actually increases your chances of succeeding so I must believe!
