Ferine POV
"What the fuck is going on?" the goblin leader yelled.
He gasped.
On top of the wall stood an Elf with striking violet eyes and violet hair.
Despite the alarming amount of purple blood on parts of his face and clothing, for all present, only one word came to mind when looking at his bloody figure bathed in moonlight.
"Beautiful...Wait! A- A male Elf?" he said in shock.
The Soluume sneered.
"But how?... Who the fuck are -" the goblin leader said but stopped abruptly.
He clenched his fists as he stared at the Soluume, more specifically, what he held in his hands.
Hanging from a vine, four large heads dripped purple liquid onto the wall as they swayed side to side.
"WHAT THE FUCK DID YOU DO?" the goblin leader became hysterical.
The Soluume smirked then tossed the severed heads towards the goblin leader.
"Here, why don't you ask them" he suggested.
The heads bounced off the ground multiple times before rolling and coming to a stop at the feet of their master.
The Soluume snickered.
"They acted like lost little lambs without you, well, you only have yourself to blame for that right?" he said mockingly.
The goblin leader stared at the heads of the goblin champions and trembled with rage.
"I WILL KILL YOU!" he roared and charged towards the wall.
The Soluume smirked.
Midway through his charge, the Soluume disappeared.
The goblin leader stopped abruptly, then turned around. Before he could stabilise his footing, a giant rock fist approached his face.
-BOOM!
-CRASH!
The force generated by the punch sent him hurtling towards the double-layered wall, destroying both on impact.
His momentum was not stopped by impacting the walls, he bounced off the ground and slid until he reached the edge of the village.
I used the <Farsight > spell to allow me to see beyond the wall, I did not want to miss the opportunity to witness the end of this war with my own eyes.
The goblin leader got to his feet and proceeded to brush the dirt off his clothing.
He surveyed the area where his elite forces should have been waiting.
I could not see his expression, however, when he noticed the decimated corpses of the goblin shamans, the riders and wolves farther in the distance, his body trembled.
"My children...my army... I'm going to rip you to pieces! Do you hear me!" his enraged voice reverberated around the village boundary.
-RUMBLE!
The ground shook as his body began emitting an ominous red aura.
The Soluume appeared behind him with his sword in a slashing position.
"Haaaah!"
A powerful blast of aura sent the Soluume tumbling backwards.
The goblin leader's body changed rapidly, growing exponentially in both height and muscle mass.
The colour of his skin changed to a sickly dark green, and the colour of his eyes turned bright yellow.
The Soluume's expression darkened as the goblin leader's transformation ended.
His towering figure stood three meters tall with a hulking physique. He had a long-pointed nose, with equally long pointed ears.
The Soluume appeared to be looking above his head, then cursed as the colour drained from his face.
"This explains a lot, but still... A fucking Goblin Lord?..." the Solume said.
A big smile appeared on the goblins face, revealing his razor-sharp teeth.
***
I have never been this confused in my life.
'How is this possible?'
The confidence and momentum that I built by slaughtering his army started to shake.
It did not make any sense for him to be one, after all, he was human right?
At the very least, he was a human from Earth, well...originally.
'It's not like he became a slime in this world or anything...'
A certain possibility flashed in my mind, however, I had no way to confirm it.
'Also, how the fuck did his tracksuit pants and boots survive the transformation? Was it custom made to grow with him?'
I checked SEV for a second time, hoping for a different result.
[Goblin Lord]
[Threat level: Extremely High]
I shuddered reflexively. The danger level skipped "Very High" and went all the way to the Extreme.
To make matters worse, the Integration System notified me that the quest was ninety percent complete.
Meaning the Goblin Lord encompassed an entire ten percent all by himself, and potentially, was the true reason for the SS-ranking of the quest.
[Notice!]
'What now?'
[Active effects]
[Fruit of the Elder Tree]
[Time remaining: 10 Minutes]
"Shit!"
(You insignificant worm. Do you know how long it took to create an army of that size?) the Goblin Lord asked, his voice sounding deeper and more bestial than before.
I smirked.
I could not help myself; it felt too damn good.
I single-handedly annihilated his entire army...with the Elder Tree's assistance, but they were slaughtered none the less.
He was the last one, the boss monster if you will.
The quest was nearly over, and I had not quenched my rage.
Goblin Lord or not, Final Boss or not, I would make him pay for everything that he did and thought about doing to the Nasu Elves.
There was no room for mistakes.
I had ten minutes left; I could not waste a second.
During his transformation he forced me back with a pulse of his aura, which in hindsight, should have alerted me to his extreme threat level.
Ten meters of soaked earth separated us.
I stabbed my sword into the ground.
'Earth Magic: Rock Gauntlets'
The Goblin Lord watched with an amused expression as rocks swirled around my arms to form two giant fists.
<Accelerate >
I ran towards him, crossing the ten-meter distance nearly instantaneously.
Stopping beside his tree trunk sized leg, I clenched my fist and flexed all the muscles in my arm.
My goal was simple, punch the side of his knee as hard as I could, then move to his face when his balance crumbled.
Just as I prepared to release my fully charged punch, a large shadow approached my unguarded side.
I got that gut feeling once again, warning me that I should not receive the impact directly.
It happened too fast, the only thing that came to mind was to block the strike.
I formed a cross with my arms and braced for impact.
-Bang!
-Crack!
The moment his knee struck my arms, deep cracks formed all over the rock fists.
I slid backwards, digging deep trenches into the ground with my heels.
My attention lingered on the cracks for far too long, I failed to notice his massive green fist in time.
-BANG!
-Crumble
The thunderous impact of the punch destroyed the rock fists and sent me flying like a rocket.
'I can't feel my arms.'
I barely had time to process the lack of sensation when the Goblin Lord appeared in front of me with his fist drawn back.
'Shit! I can't lift my arms to block!'
The rock fists saved me the first time. I would receive critical damage from a direct hit, of that I was certain
'I have to obstruct him while my arms recover.'
'Earth Magic: Rock Wall'
-Rumble.
-Bang!
-Crumble
-Rumble
Several double-layered walls appeared between the Goblin Lord and me, unfortunately, the walls were destroyed the moment they appeared.
-Bang!
-Crumble
The Goblin Lord broke through the last double-layered wall with a predatory grin.
He leaned forward in preparation to unleash another punch.
'Earth Magic: Rock Pillar'
An enormous pillar rose beneath the Goblin Lord while his attention was focused on me.
-BANG!
The pillar struck his exposed torso with a loud crash, sending him hundreds of meters into the air.
Although the walls only delayed him for a few seconds, the time was sufficient for the recovery enchantment on the waistcoat to return blood flow to my arms.
'Earth Magic: Rock Gauntlets'
I focused all the rocks onto my right fist, nearly tripling its original size.
'Fire Magic: Raging Flames'
The bright yellow flame in my right hand super-heated the rocks, while the flame in my left engulfed the entire fist.
<Boundless >
I appeared above the flailing Goblin Lord and punched him in the face with all my might.
-BOOOOM!
Multiple cone-shaped shock waves appeared as the Goblin Lord plummeted to the ground like a meteor.
-CRASH!
He impacted the ground violently, creating a huge crater.
<Boundless >
I arrived on the edge of the crater and waited for the dust to settle.
'That must be it right? He can't-'
I stopped myself from raising a death flag, despite earnestly hoping that it was over.
The dust inside of the crater swirled unnaturally.
The next moment, a large rock flew towards me at lightning speed.
I felt the temptation to deflect it with my rock fist, but my gut told me that I had to dodge it at all costs.
I jumped to the right, barely avoiding the rock as it grazed my shoulder.
-BANG!
-Crack!
A massive fist slammed into my chest the next moment, crushing my ribs and lifting my feet off the ground.
I took off into the air while losing strength in my limbs.
He leaped towards me and grabbed my ankle before I left his reach.
He spun around and swung me vigorously as though I were a club, then released my ankle.
I spun uncontrollably, destroying any tree that was unfortunate enough to be rooted in my path.
After leaving a trail of destruction in my wake, I came to a stop at the base of a giant tree.
-Cough! -Cough!
A fountain of blood left my mouth.
'I can't breathe'
I gasped trying to compose my breathing.
I poured copious amounts of magic power into the waistcoat to accelerate the regeneration enchantment.
-Thud -Thud
The sound of heavy footsteps resounded in the distance.
'Shit! I need more time.'
