Entrance Exam

[ALERT!]

[ERROR!][

ERROR!]

Trying to allocate his stat points into his strength, Kadori was met with an error notification. This was something he hadn't seen before.

'Is it perhaps too much to add all at once?'

Assuming it was because he was attempting to allocate all 13 points at once, resulting in the [ERROR], Kadori decided to split it and allocate 5 first.

[ERROR]

However, the same red notification popped up again.

'So I can't increase my stats during these two days of punishment?'

Kadori pondered. Having his entire stats halved wasn't punishment enough; the system still denied him the ability to increase any stats while serving his penalty for failing the quest.

Kadori viewed this as a setback. He had planned to return to the crafter shop to retrieve his brand-new blade and pay with the two Grandmaster's energy Zen he acquired while hunting.

Once he obtained the blade, he would embark on another hunting mission to gain more stat points and raise his level and rank.

Kadori knew he would be leaving for the Terminator Academy soon, as he had already agreed with Yukiko to join.

If he needed to join the Terminators, then he'd have to be as strong as possible to prove to the authorities that he was capable of handling dangerous missions.

But now, with everything halved, Kadori's plans were shattered.

'I just hope the entrance exam is still far...'

The entrance door swung open, snapping Kadori out of his thoughts. He shifted his gaze to the door and saw a beautiful lady with long white hair enter, carrying a tray filled with food.

"Yukiko?"Yukiko approached Kadori, placing the food tray on the bed.

"I know you haven't eaten anything since you came here," Yukiko said. "Eat up."

Kadori glanced at the food, his mouth watering and his eyes widening. Kadori couldn't remember the last time he had seen such a meal.

After the apocalypse, the villagers only cooked the huge mushrooms around the village with some other plants.

No one ever enjoyed eating such disgusting mushrooms, but they had to eat it to avoid dying of hunger.

The Runners often brought back food supplies whenever they returned from a Run, but the Seven Barons greedily shared it among themselves and gave the villagers leftovers.

Kadori didn't bother picking up the small spoon beside the food tray. He instantly dug in with his hand and tore out a large piece of turkey.

"Chomp... chomp... chomp..."

The whole of Kadori's mouth was filled with meat and rice. The meat sauce dripped all over the white bedsheet and onto his clothes.

A few seconds later, the tray was empty but Kadori still looked the same. Yukiko glanced at Kadori's stomach and found it still flat like before.

"Who would have thought you were a monster?" Yukiko shook her head before clearing the bed and placing the tray on the table.

"That felt good," Kadori uttered, rubbing his stomach with content. "It's been a while since I ate something like this."

"Hope you enjoyed it? Because that's never happening again," Yukiko stated. "Hurry up and get dressed. We will be leaving for the Terminator Academy immediately."

Kadori almost cursed Yukiko out loud after hearing those words. Out of all the times the exam could take place, it had to be now? Now that he was weaker than the word weak?

"Err... What do you mean? Am I going to enroll today?" Kadori asked in disbelief.

"The entrance exam is today," Yukiko replied. "They are recruiting new students."

"But can't they wait for a much brighter day? I mean, look outside, everywhere is pitch black," Kadori remarked.

If the entrance exam was going to happen on a sunny day, then he would have regained his strength since this planet has three days of darkness and they are already in the beginning of the second day.

"I'm sorry, I don't make the rules, K.K. The Enhanced leaders do," Yukiko replied. "If you have a change of heart towards joining, it's fine. You can always join the farmers and businessmen."

Kadori clenched his fist after hearing the word farm. Everyone in his entire life has always tried to keep him away from the war front by making him join the farmers.

Kadori hated the way everyone treated him like he was weak and would be better off if he established a stupid farm and sat home comfortably.

The only reason he needed to join the Terminators was to vanquish every single infected creature, both on Earth and Planet Edom, for taking his beloved mother.

Kadori couldn't let this setback hinder his main goal.

"Let's go then," Kadori responded, standing up from the bed and stepping out of the room with Yukiko by his side.

The planet was still in its dark time, but the streets were illuminated with glowing Energy Zen.

Some lower-graded beasts' Energy Zen couldn't be used to craft any weapons, so they repurposed them into light bulbs and streetlights.

The streets were filled with tall buildings and numerous shops, with both adults and children going about their business.

Seeing the whole thing now made Kadori wonder if they managed to build everything in just six years after the apocalypse.

The planet looked like a country that had been existing for decades, not built in six years.

"You see, this planet has been existing for centuries now," Yukiko spoke.

Kadori quickly shifted his gaze to Yukiko, wondering if she could actually read his thoughts.

"This planet existed way before the apocalypse. It was first discovered by the first Enhanced after he died on Earth and got transmigrated here," Yukiko explained.

"Since then, he began to build and build until it became like this."

"So, how come there are so many people here now?" Kadori questioned.

"The man managed to build a machine that transported him back to Earth. He informed the authorities about this newfound planet, but no one believed him."

"The only few who believed him followed him back here to start a new life. And then the disease broke out, forcing mankind to call upon him for help," Yukiko explained as they walked through the beautiful street.

A few hours later, they arrived at what looked like a fighting arena that was now crowded with people who seemed to be enjoying a show in the middle of the arena.

Yukiko and Kadori managed to squeeze their way through the noisy crowd until they finally arrived in front and could see what everyone was cheering at.

Inside a cage placed in the middle of the arena, two teenagers could be seen engaged in an intense battle with each other.

"What's going on here?" Kadori asked

"All you have to do is defeat the opponent you are given. If you do, then you pass the exam."
