Chapter 44: Rumor Has It
Dalton didn’t sleep that night.
He was too worked up and angry at Liam and what had happened.
Part of him was happy he got the better of his brother.
Maybe that would finally put him in his place, but Liam still had an ego that needed to be torn down.
He couldn’t risk Autumn going back to Liam or for Liam to seek revenge on Dalton and go after Autumn again.
She was too vulnerable and would give in.
Dalton couldn’t have that.
He knew what he had to do.
There needed to be another rumor and this one would be more believable than the first one he told and wouldn’t compromise Autumn’s reputation.
In Dalton’s eyes, it was a win-win.
Maybe after he gave his valuable information to Autumn, she would entrust him with her next plan on how she was going to go about finding the killer.
Once morning had come and gone and Dalton had calmed down enough to formulate his own plan, he felt peace.
He was done with the mask he had put on for everyone.
