9 Chapter 7: Another Near encounter with Death

It has already been several hours after the "stuck into a trunk" incident. After my enlightment regarding my New life in this alien world, I decided to Focus solely in my survival.

My First objective was to secure food and a safe place to sleep. Also, I can't forget to find a reliable water source. And my Second objective is to boost my growth, since I'm into a fantasy world, It means that I can evolve and get stronger If I kill more enemies. But...

So far, Nothing really happened. I didn't even managed to find a trace of a water source, Althrough I did find some wild life they were either too Quick for me to even approach them, or they were too big for me to even atempt to hurt them. And after hours and hours of walking around, I got hungry and tired.

The good news is that I can feed in plants and fruits. So I'm not obligated to acquire my energy on meat only. But I still can't find any water...

It is already night time, and acording from the documentaries that I watched on earth, Night means danger. Nocturnal predators Will wake up and as I'm only a slight bigger Insect, It Probaly means that almost anything here can kill me.

Sincerely, I thought that I would Be alarmed when I reached this conclusion. Actually, I'm perfectly calm, the only thing in my mind Right now is to survive.

Right Now, I should look for a safe place to rest, tomorrow I Will return to my routine of walking clueless...

This New body is more useful than I thought. I'm already walking for hours and I don't even feel pain or soreness.

I also noticed that I have two antenna at the top of my head, Yeah, It is quite stupid of me for not noticing before, Althrough they Probaly started to work only after my shedding. I actually relied on these antenna to find hidden fruits and searching for water sources. But the most useful part is that These antenna are helping me find my way in the dark.

I don't even need to touch things with them to perceive the surroundings. At First I thought that they worked Just like the antenna from Ants, But It is way too accurate and more detailed for them to be one.

They Probaly work like a bat's Sense of hearing, but they don't perceive sounds like the bat's ears, It is something else... But I don't know. Althrough this information would Be useful, I don't know How I Will acquire It...

While I was thinking about those things, I didn't stop my searchings neither I dropped my guard. My antenna were constantly moving and perceiving the surroundings while also checking for hidden dangers

There was some nocturnal predators here and there, but since I was only a small bug, they simply didn't bother with me, there was even some that completely ignored my presence. Well, this did made me slightly furious, but getting angry Will take me nowhere.

And after some minutes. I finally managed to find a suitable place to rest. Althrough I couldn't see anything, Using my touch and my antenna, I deduced that I'm into some rocky plains.

This place was one of the most suitable ones because It didn't contain almost any wildlife. So I deemed It as a safe zone for now. I dragged my now tired body into some rocks that created some sort of a small cavern.

I laid down in the hard Surface and slept in the most confortable way to me. And I still didn't leave my alertness, my antenna were up in High alert and I didn't even bother to close my eyes. I'm sleeping in a weird way, like I shuted off half of my brain...

Well, Good night for me... I guess...

Right Now it is finally Morning, the sun returned to his previous stance, bringing the light that iluminated the region and the light that made the plants survive. While also making the nocturnal predators return to their hiding places.

Inside a small rock cavern, stood the figure of a small cyan and white alien Spider. It simply stood there like It was dead. They antenna were carefully checking the surroundings, while It's six cyan eyes were open but unmovable, and they looked like lifeless, empty husks...

After some more minutes, the eyes finally returned to they former brightness... The brightness that only living beings can emmit.

So It's already morning...

Feeling that I wasn't tired anymore, I got up and walked towards the exit of the cavern. When I was close enough, I decided to stop and check the surroundings with my antenna, because It is always better be safe than sorry.

And of course, this simple action saved my life. I managed to catch a glimpse of an enormous alien bettle, Probaly with the same size of that alien crow. He had a dark Green exoskeleton and a big horn Just like a rhinoceros bettle, his see-through giant wings were buzzing with a annoying sound and at a speed that couldn't be seen by The naked eye. It launched it's tongue, that was Just like a chameleon's, towards another bug that was only slightly bigger than me. The speed of the tongue was so fast That I almost couldn't see It.

The small creature got trapped by The enormous bettle and got swalowed whole, his struggles were pointless... I simply stood there dumbfoundly staring at the scene.

Before the bettle even noticed, I quickly dashes towards the cavern without looking back.

When I finally reached the end, I turn my body in order for it to be in position, while maintaining my antenna and body prepared to face the upcoming threat. I'm certain this Monster noticed My presence before my atempt to hide, so I menacingly lift my razor Mantis arms and I tense my legs, giving them power...

Suddenly, My antenna twitches...

'Wooosh'

The tongue of doom came with godspeed... I didn't even needed to think, my body jumps to the side.

SPLAT!

DRIP DRIP

Ignoring the Sharp pain in my left cheek and the Green blood that was slowly driping out, I still maintained my attention while gazing at the strechted tongue with my back eyes.

SLIIIIIIPPP

The tongue, after failing It's objective, slowly gets dragged back towards the cavern's entrance while leaving a saliva trail...

Silence...

Even through It seemed safe, my antenna were still in High alert. Even if I couldn't sense what is happening outside, I was still with the same position as before.

And Then...

WOOOOSH

The tongue of Death came again! But I'm prepared! Predicting the trajectory, I dodge to the side...

The tongue misses It's target again, but before It could Go back, I crazily swinged my blades towards it.

SLASH!

SPLIT

SPLAT!

The tongue get's quickly retracted, but I didn't even bat an eye. I was simply staring at the piece that got cut out...

It simply stood there, sometimes twitching, sometimes not... It was there, spilling the Ruby-red coloured blood.

I was dumbly looking at It, like I was in some sort of trance...

That blood... That Meat... It looks...

(...)

Delicious...

BaBump...

Were the only thoughs that were running through my mind... Droll started droping out of my mounth as I slowly aproach It with my jaws...

My heart was also crazily beating hard..

Saliva was constantly falling at that piece of tongue, but I don't Care. I Just want to eat It...

I stabed It, and seeing all that blood getting out was making me even more excited. I used my razor arm as a fork, and slowly put It even closer towards my face...

The tongue, like It was feeling they demise, started to twitch, but I didn't even bother with It before taking a bite...

Whatever that was Inside my mounth easily crushed the piece of meat, and I felt heaven. The juicy blood driping out of my jaws and the pain that beetle was feeling made me Go even crazier...

CRUNCHH

MUNCH MUNCH

SPLAT

Done. It was done... But before I could do anything, I started to feel a slight pain inside my mounth.

It was simply annoying at first, but It started to get worse...

AAAARGGGHH

THIS HURTTTTS!!!! IT FEELS LIKE THE INSIDES OF MY MOUNTH ARE GETTING RIPED OFF!!!!

AAAAAAAAHHHH!!!

Ha... Haaa...

After this painful experience, I felt extremely tired, I could see chunks of meat and Green blood all over the place.

I tried to get up, but I was hit by a huge HeadAche that easily disrupted my thoughts.

Evolution...

Complete...

Wait, what does this means??!

But before I could understand. I felt an odd sensation inside my mounth, and I subconscionsly moved something inside of It...

A long, cyan colored tongue came out of my jaws... It looked just like the Beetle's...

What just happened?
