1 Only For a Moment

(AN: Please Point Out Any Word Mistakes)

'The world, a term that I no longer realize anymore. What world are we talking about, Earth? Or are we talking about the millions of other theoretical worlds out there. I no longer believe in just one world as I know there is another. I have seen it, no not only seen it, I have lived it. Pain, torture, loneliness, a life I would only wish upon my worst enemy.

I, Alexander Thatcher, am merely a normal human on Earth. However, in Gaia, I am strong and powerful. Despite my power, I was not strong enough to stop the devastation that will be wrought upon the world.

I was a hero in that life, alongside many others. At least I was supposed to be. Just because I was awarded with a class not of humanity, I was kept on a short leash. I was more of a prisoner than I was a hero but I guess we all were.'

"Alexander, since you have been so attentive in my class. Why don't you come up to the board and answer the problem."

Alexander, now pulled from his thoughts, returns to reality to see almost everyone in class staring at him. Most had bored faces, some had faces of mockery, and others just didn't care enough to look. Alexander didn't care for most of these people as to him they were still children unaware of the incoming despair all of them will face.

"Alexander, anytime now."

The teacher said, prompting Alex to get up and walk to the board. The teacher had a childish smirk on his face which disgusted Alex as it reminded him of a face he wished he could forget. In fact many faces within the class were faces Alex wished he could forget but he held himself back as his memory wasn't clear yet.

Alex removed all unwanted emotion and focused on the math problem. The problem was easy to solve for a man who had lived a life before. His success in the problem didn't amuse the teacher nor the select few students in class that wanted to watch Alex fail.

"Ok, just return to your seat."

The teacher said with a sigh trying to keep his professional attitude. Alex, of course, heeded the instruction and returned to his seat with his always emotionless face.

"Wow, you actually answered that. I didn't even have a clue to what the answer was."

The girl sitting next to Alex whispered.

Alex, like always, just looked over and gave the girl a nod which would always make her pout. Alex tried his best to keep out of relationships in fear of the future. His whole life was wasted waiting for a future he had no idea would come or not. He had to believe though. He had to believe Gaia was real or he would have wasted his youth preparing for an illusion.

The teacher continued teaching about a subject that was just as boring as Alex. Almost all of the students were on the brink of falling asleep but their fear of getting in trouble made them keep their heads up. Alex returned his gaze outside the class. Looking towards the sunny sky and the beauty of nature. Alex had no purpose in doing this nor did he know why he did it. He just did.

The day continued and the teachers changed. Alex remained the same at least on the outside. Inside he was panicking. A feeling that turned his stomach and caused his head to ache started as soon as one of the teachers came into the classroom. A sense of worry radiated throughout Alex's body and he had no idea where this feeling was coming from.

Nevertheless he stayed still and gradually the worry turned into an indescribable feeling. The only thing Alex could relate it to was happiness. It was this feeling that told Alex what was going to happen. It was this feeling that told Alex that he only had a few minutes left before his life would change.

All of the sudden the beauty outside the window wasn't so pointless. The feelings Alex had held back forever poured through his mind. His regret for ignoring his parents which caused them to blame themselves. His anger for the many people he hated in his class and outside school. He felt love for the many people who helped him and tried to stay by his side even when he pushed them away.

In the midst of these feelings the air started to change. The classroom began to be sealed off from the rest of Earth. A large symbol appeared on the ceiling of the classroom. This symbol then transformed into a giant black hole that exerted a pulling force.

Alex heard screams and yelling as he kept his eyes on the outside window. Tears streamed down his eyes and his emotionless smile threatened to crack. Eventually it was finally his turn to be pulled into the infinite darkness. He did not struggle nor flinch as he was getting pulled away. His sight remained on the outside as he was getting pulled.

His sight once filled with the beauty of nature was replaced with darkness and the Alexander that finally realized his mistakes was no more, replaced by another, rather he was replaced by the original.
