7 Episode 4 - The Cost

Previously: Reuniting with his family, Rick and Lori spent their first night back together. Ed was abusing Carol, and Shane separated them after Sophia almost died, Carol gained the courage to break up with Ed. Rick, Glenn, Allen, and Morales were returning to the city for the duffel bag.

Dale sits on a small fishing boat with Andrea and Amy. Dale looks up as Andrea reels in a fish. Dale smiles "nice catch!" Andrea looks at Dale "thanks". Amy goes "this is so boring, I'd rather be getting a lecture by my professor" Andrea laughs "how about a lecture from dad?" Amy smiles. Andrea sits up and she goes "do you think about him and mom?" Amy starts to tear up "there are days where I wonder if they made it out alive, but...then I see the world, and I just...I don't think they did" Andrea turns around and she smiles at Amy "you've still got me" Amy smiles at her. Dale looks at them "I had a wife, she was called Irma, she died about a month before this whole thing started" Andrea looks at Dale. Dale looks at her and he slightly smiles "at the time, I was heartbroken, but now...I'm glad she got to leave this planet, whilst it was still. Just beautiful". Amy looks at Dale "I'm sure she's watching over you, keeping you safe" Dale nods "me too".

Inside the truck, Rick sits beside Glenn. Rick goes "so, you're the brains of this city, what are your thoughts about how we're gonna get his bag back?" Glenn goes "I'd say we should probably park outside the city and walk the rest of the way in, we don't want to get the truck swarmed" Rick looks at him and he nods "alright, I'll park up here" Glenn looks at Atlanta. Morales and Allen climb out of the truck and Morales goes "what're we doing?" Rick looks at him "we're gonna do this safe" Allen smiles "okay then" Rick pulls out his revolver "let's get my guns back". Rick leads the group into the city, and as they walk down a street, Glenn goes "this doesn't feel right". Morales holds his baseball bat and he goes "where are all the walkers?". Morales walks over to a car that's in the middle of the street and he sees something inside the car "oh, cool!". Allen looks at Rick "so, this is good then?" Rick goes "but where have they all gone?" Glenn nods. Morales then goes "guys, check this shit out!" Morales swings a baseball bat near Glenn's head that's covered in barbed wire. Glenn goes "jeez, watch out" Morales goes "I found some wire in the car, pretty cool right?" Rick looks at the tank that he was hiding in. Glenn goes "Rick, that's your car right?" Rick nods as he looks at his cop car "we'll take it back on the way home".

Down at the Quarry, Lori stands watching Carl, Sophia, Billy, Ben, Louis, and Eliza playing together. Donna stands beside Lori. Donna goes "how are you feeling?" Lori goes "Rick was always going to go, that's just the kinda man he is, he's always thinking about the people he cares about, he's the least selfish person I know, that's why I love him, I can't fault him for that". Donna nods at Lori until she sees Shane walking over. Donna goes "well, Lori...I'll keep an eye on the kids" Lori looks at Shane and then back at Donna "thanks" Donna nods and she walks away.

Lori and Shane walk together slowly as they walk back to the camp. Shane goes "can we talk?" Lori goes "there's nothing to talk about, Rick's back now, and-" Shane goes "what about us?" Lori scoffs "us? Shane, my husband is back, he is alive, what we had, I thank you for, but we both thought he was dead, he's not, we need to forget about everything that we did, it is over Shane!".

Jacqui and Jim walk together out of the tent. Jim looks at Jacqui "thank you, for taking care of me" Jacqui smiles at him "we're all a family here, and I lost my husband to this world" Jim looks at her "you're a strong lady" Jacqui smiles at him "I know, you don't have to remind me that". Carol walks in the camp holding firewood. T-Dog goes "here, put that down here, and then we just need to light it now" Carol places the firewood down and she smiles "it's nice to do something". Ed walks over "hey, can we talk?" Carol stares at him "um, sure". Carol and Ed walk together. Ed looks at Carol "this bullshit is over now, you and Sophia are coming back tonight!" Carol looks at Ed "I'm sorry Ed, but no" Ed grabs Carol's arm "Ed, you are hurting me" Ed glares at her "if you're not back in our tent tonight, I'll do more than just fucking hurt your arm! Got it?".

Rick walks passed the cafe, and Glenn goes "the alleyway is around here". Rick sees the duffel bag on the ground and he picks it "we got it-" a walker jumps out from the alleyway and grabs Rick's arm. Rick kicks the walker off, and Morales swings his baseball bat around the walkers head. Allen goes "I still don't get where the walkers have gone" Rick goes, "Shane thought they were moving, what if...what if they're moving-" Glenn stares in shock "towards the camp".

The moon shines onto the campfire as Lori, Shane, Carl, Andrea, Dale, Amy, Donna, T-Dog, Jacqui, Jim, Miranda, Louis, Eliza, Billy, Ben, and Sophia all sit around it. Carol goes "Sophia, come on, we gotta get back to your dad" Shane looks at her "Carol, you don't have too" Carol looks at him "for Sophia's safety, I have too". Sophia stands up and the two of them walk off. Carol and Sophia walk into the tent and Ed stands in there "I knew you'd come back, weak bitch" Carol looks at Sophia "let's get you to bed". Sophia lays down and Carol smiles at Sophia in tears. Carol then whispers "cover your ears". Carol turns around and sees Ed glaring at her.

Andrea bites into a bit of meat and she goes "how's the food? I and Dale caught a pretty nice deer earlier" Miranda smiles "it's lovely, makes a change from fish" Carl smiles "I like fish". Everyone laughs as they eat, Amy looks at Dale "tell us one of your inspirational stories" Dale thinks for a moment until he smiles "I like what the father said to the son when he gave him a watch that had been handed down through generations. He said, I give you a mausoleum of all hope and desire which will fit your individual needs, no better than it did mine and my father before me. I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you may forget it. For a moment, now and then, and not spend all of your breath trying to conquer it". Amy stares at him "okay, that's actually pretty lame" Amy stands up and Andrea goes "where are you going?" Amy sighs "I'm gonna pee, Jesus, can never be discreet around here". Billy and Ben laugh at her. Andrea watches Amy walking into the RV. Jim looks at Jacqui and he stands up "I just wanted to make a toast to Jacqui, she may not be a trained nurse, but she's done so much for us, and I wanted to say thank you" Jacqui smiles "thank you". Jim goes "I actually wanted to confess something, I told you my family were killed, but I didn't tell you have I survived. The walkers came out of nowhere. There were dozens of 'em. The dead, they just pulled 'em right out of my hands. You know, the only reason I got away was 'cause the dead were too busy eating my family". Lori looks at Jim. Jacqui puts her hand on Jim's back "I'm so sorry, Jim" Jim nods.

Rick speeds down a road in the truck whilst Glenn, Allen, and Morales are in the truck. Glenn pulls a handgun out of the duffle bag. Rick goes "come on, come on!" Glenn goes "Rick, we'll get back in time" Rick looks at the road and he breathes heavily, panicking about incoming horde.

Carol stares at Ed "please, Sophia is in here" Ed slaps Carol around the face "MAKING A SCENE, IN FRONT OF EVERYONE, PULLING YOUR RING OFF. DO YOU KNOW HOW HUMILIATED I FELT?!" Carol stares at him in tears "I'm so sorry" Ed grabs Carol by the hair and Carol screams "please". Sophia turns around "MOM!". All of a sudden, a hand grabs Ed's shoulder. Ed turns around "get the fu-" Ed sees a walker in front of him, and Carol kicks Ed into the walker and it bites his throat.

Andrea laughs as Miranda tells her something, Amy then walks out of the RV "guys, we're out of toilet roll, has anyone got any?" Andrea turns around to look at Amy, until a walker appears behind her and grabs her arm, biting into it. Amy screams as Andrea's face drops "NO! AMY!". Shane grabs his shotgun as more walkers start to appear from the forest around them. Lori screams "CARL!".

Andrea runs over to Amy and punches the walker. Amy looks at Andrea "my arm" Andrea and Amy run into the RV and Andrea shuts the door behind her. A walker grabs Jim and bites him on the neck. Jim screams "NO!" Jacqui turns around "JIM!" another walker grabs Jim and he falls to the floor being eaten. Donna stares in shock. A walker goes to grab Billy, but Donna grabs her fork and stabs the walker in the head "BOYS GET TO SHANE". Shane shoots a walker in the head. Dale aims his rifle and he shoots a walker in the head. T-Dog swings his crowbar around a walker's head and he goes "everyone get to the RV!" Shane then shouts "EVERYONE TO THE RV! KEEP THE KIDS TOGETHER!" Lori stands behind Shane guarding Carl.

Inside the truck, Rick pulls up at the camp seeing loads of walkers inside and he stares in shock. The four of them run out of the truck with the bag of guns and holding guns. Morales hits a walker in the head with his bat. Allen and Glenn shoot walkers. Rick aims his revolver and shoots another in the head. Rick watches as loads of walkers start to surround Shane and the survivors.

Next Time - Bites - With Amy bitten, and infected, Andrea, spends the final moments with her. Rick gathers everyone up and realises they need to move on, and Rick thinks the CDC could be a place they need to go too. Shane hates the idea of it. Shane blames Rick for the deaths at the camp.
