1 Inhuman

We strode across hills and hills,

Reaching the outskirts of the city,

Our city.

We were on the edge,

The edge of society,

Our society.

Yet it wasn't ours.

We laid down,

Cushioned by maple leaves,

The picturesque city in view,

Our picturesque city.

Yet it wasn't ours,

It wasn't ours.

We watched,

Watched as they walked humanity's grounds,

How society belonged to them,

Not us.

It wasn't our society.

We were nothing,

Nothing but inhuman creatures,

Dragged onto the edge,

The outskirts,

The margins

Of society.

It just wasn't ours.

Inhuman was what we were,

Nothing but inhuman,

Nothing but aliens to the world,

Nothing but spectres who always go unnoticed.

Why?

Because it wasn't our society,

It wasn't our world,

It never was.
