7 Young Master

"Oh? Second Class? That's pretty nice." Daniel whistled in appreciation. Being a second class student meant that Han was no ordinary man.

"Nice, huh?" Han chuckled. "It's great. I get to start the new year in a higher class. That's wonderful, especially since it's just my second year here." He laughed out loud. It seemed that despite his rather intense first impression, Han was someone who was easy to get along with.

"Oh?" Daniel pursed his lips. He studied Han for a couple of seconds. In just a single glance, he was able to tell that Han possessed a strong mind and will. Indeed, he was someone who had the potential and drive to go far in life. No one who was in ranked as second class would be weak willed.

"What about you? You surely could not have gotten into the Sect if you were simple." Han turned to face Daniel with a critical gaze. "But, the thing is, I do not feel any strong force of will radiating from you. In fact, when I try to narrow down on your presence, it is like you are hardly there." Han's eyes narrowed.

Daniel's smile faltered. It seemed he had judged too soon. His housemate might be a bit nosy, if cool.

"It's a personal trait. One I do not like to talk about." Daniel smoothly evaded the question by pinning it on a personal matter. Basically, he just tacitly pointed out that it would be rude and unethical for Han to continue to try and find out.

"But, even if it seems like I'm an ordinary student, I'm actually a second class student as well." Daniel proudly puffed out his chest. Han remained quiet for some time before simply nodding.

"I see. I will retire to my room to rest. I'm quite tired after my workout. See you later." Han left the kitchen, walking into his room with the cup of water. Daniel simply stared after him as he left, confused. Had he hurt Han's feelings by boasting about being a second class student despite it only being his first year here?

Daniel shrugged, before walking through the living area, and out of the small home. He stood outside the room, resting against one of the wooden pillars that held up the roof that extended a small distance above him. The sun shone down from above, illuminating the courtyard of the boys' quarters. After studying the area for a moment, Daniel decided to make his way to the pond in the center of the compound.

He sat on one of the benches, admiring the way the water reflected everything that was above it. Soft ripples shook its surface as a few small fishes swam about, poking their heads up from underneath to catch an insect, every once in a while. It was quiet and peaceful.

At least, for the moment.

"Hey, who's that?" A gruff voice broke the silence of that enveloped Daniel. He sighed silently and closed his eyes for a moment before opening them again.

Turning, he could see the group of three walking towards him. The one in front was a large boy who was most likely younger than Daniel than more than just a couple years. Behind him, flanking him from both sides, two other young boys around the same age hurried after the leading boy.

They arrived before Daniel, blocking out the sun that was keeping him warmed up.

"Er, um, he looks like a new student, Young Master. I can not recall ever seeing him around here before." Lackey One, as Daniel had chosen to refer to one of the two idiots who seemed to answer to the 'Young Master' before him, spoke up.

"Yes, yes. I have never seen him before." Lackey two seconded, backing up his fellow lackey.

The burly boy eyed Daniel for a couple of seconds before scoffing.

"Useless." He muttered as he eyed Daniel. I can see that you lack home training, but I am willing to put that aside."

'Ha! It is you wh lacks home training, stupid! How can you just walk up to someone and start insulting them? Indeed, you fit the typical stereotype of all those 'Young Masters'.' Daniel mentally rolled his eyes and scoffed internally. On the outside, he retained a passive face.

"Despite your obvious lack of manners, I cam willing to put that aside and take you under my wing!" The 'Young Master' raised his voice, speaking in a righteous manner.

Daniel coughed out loud, barely managing to cover up his laughter. He had nearly exploded from holding it back for so long!

"Forgive me... Young master, but allow me to kindly refuse your offer. I do not need any sort of protection that you might be willing to provide.

"Then, I will kindly take- What?! What did you say?" As the 'Young Master' had not expected refusal, he carried on with his script, before his brain registered that he had been rejected!
