1 Guy Wilson

A young man had been patiently awaiting the arrival of his pod ever since he woke up this morning. He was average height, and his body was slightly muscular due to his diligent working out. He had short brown hair and wore glasses. He could have had his vision corrected at no cost, but he liked the way he looked with his glasses on.

Today was the official release of the game he had been waiting for, Infinite Universe. His friend Daniel had already recieved his 2 hours ago, and had already entered the world to get his unique magical formula. The game did not officially open until 10 o'clock tonight, to ensure that all individuals had the same beginnings, but a person could verify their settings and get their magical formula before that.

The magical formula looked like advanced mathematical algorithms, something that was not in the scope of a regular person to understand. Guy however was rather interested in these algorithms as he had a degree in engineering, not that he needed to use it much. He had went to college simply to pass the time until the game was released. It had taken him 3 years to get his bachelor's in engineering, having graduated a month ago.

The classes were actually rather easy, in this day and age everything was done virtually, basically noone had to leave their houses any more. He was able to build everything virtually, and then print it out using his 3d printer. For stuff toncomplicated for his home unit 3d printer it could be printed out elsewhere and delivered to him.

Food packets were delivered to a person, the taste was bland, but provided the basic necessities. These packets had come into play around 20 years ago, and had rid the world of not only hunger but also obesity. The bland food packets were also one of the reasons that VRMMOs were so popular. The food that was available online had taste. When you lived in a world without taste something like that became addicting.

As he was day dreaming a knock on the door came. "Finnally!" He shouted as he ran to the door, opening it wide to see 2 men in a black uniform dragging a large box on a dolly. "Mr Guy Wilson?" one of the man asked as he looked at the clipboard in his hands.

"That's me!" Guy said excitedly, "Follow me, my room is upstairs." He spoke as he was already guiding the men into his house. The man with the clipboard nodded as they followed, in his other hand he carried a tool bag.

Guy excitedly through open his room, beaming with pride at the various anime posters that lined his room. The posters were borderline hentai with how much skin was exposed, but Guy had no shame as his secret obsessions were laid bare to these men. "Why should I care if they see?" Guy thought to himself "It's not like I will ever see them again".

He lived alone, not because he didn't have a family. He was not a character from a Web Novel series. Rather he lived alone because his mother and father liked to stay unplugged. His father was rather old fashioned, and had still went to a physical job before he retired, even though they were far more rare these days. He was a scientist that worked for the space organization, 20 years ago he had been part of some big discovery though it had all been hush hush. He was forced into retirement after that.

His mother was a typical stay at home mom. Meaning she had a drinking problem and had the robotics take care of the house. She was a nice lady however, regardless of how much she drank.

The environment just had not been to his liking so he moved out a month ago when he had graduated. He was only 18, with his bachelor's in engineering you could say he had a bright future. However he was not like his father, and his dream was to support himself with video games. This new game would pay his expenses to play, as long as he stayed active and made contributions. He could even get rich if he did well. This kind of life suited him much more than working a 9-5 in a virtual job.

He sat on his bed as he watched the men install his Capsule. "The game comes equipped with food capsules that will keep you fed while you play. The game will kick you out in the morning. Infinite Universe is up and running from 10 pm to 10 A.M. time passes faster in the game, so that 12 hours will be equal to an entire day. It is recommended that you utilize the 12 hours a day you're not playing to take care of yourself physically. Get some exercise, shower, sleep, meet with some friends or family. If you don't there is a risk that you will get in to deep in the game. The game has parameters that won't let you in if you're not in a good mental state, so take care of yourself."

"It's only 2 o'clock, so the game will officially launch in 8 hours. You can enter the capsule to merge your conciousness and create you're character, but you will not be able to do anything else until 10 o'clock."

The two men had finished installing the game, the one with the clipboard was again the one to speak as he left. The other guy had not said a single word the entire time, only handing him a card that had the number for technical support. This really did not surprise Guy, more than likely this guy was a robotic companion used by the company to assist.

He showed the two out, then excitedly ran upstairs to his capsule. He still had 8 hours to play, but for now he couldn't hold back his excitement as he turned on the game. It was time to create his character!
